<div id="i4c-draggable-container" style="position: fixed; z-index: 1499; width: 0px; height: 0px;"><div data-reactroot="" class="resolved" style="all: initial;"></div></div>I can't believe this is happening. "Kiera? Are you okay? You look nervous."

Honestly, I didn't know. I hate to admit but I've thought about this day for the longest time now.

"Kiki? Are you ready for this?"

I don't know what to say.

"Want me to go in first?"

"No. I'm good, let's just do this." I'm tough, I know I am. I can do this. Why should I feel bad about this, he should have made more of an effort to see me, to see his granddaughter, but he didn't. I have every right to be mad, why should I feel nervous about this, he should be the one who's nervous, not me. I got out the car then helped Sammy out and started walking towards the front door. The front door that looked more expensive than my whole apartment. The front door I've never seen because he never cared to see me. The front door I'd secretly dreamed of seeing.

"Mommy where are we?"

"We're home."

-

As we walked up the concrete walkway I couldn't help but notice Kiera, she seemed… off, dare I say, vulnerable? She had this look in her eyes, like she was scared, or nervous, something I wasn't used to seeing oh my best friend's face. She always looked so confident, so sure of herself. I could tell this was a tough moment for her but she was so much tougher, she could do this. Once we got to the door she paused for a moment, I was about to say something until she knocked on the door. We waited for about a minute then she knocked again. Kiera was starting to looked pissed, we waited another 30 seconds maybe then she turned around and started to walk away.

"Kiera, wait, maybe we should wait a little longer, maybe he's just a little busy." I tried pleading with her, where would we go now?

"This is just what he does June. Can't rely on him for anything. He's just a self centered assh-"

"Kiera? Is that you?" she didn't say anything at first, hadn't even looked at him yet, me neither, up to this point. I'd never really seen any pictures of Kiera's dad, she said she didn't have any when I asked one time. I couldn't help but wonder about my dad now.

"I know you heard me Kiera."

"We were just about to leave." she still hadn't turned around.

"Sorry, I-I didn't think you'd be here so soon. I don't even think I have food in the fridge. I was just about to go out and get some. You can come… if you want"

"I'll pass." I could hear the shakiness in his voice when he asked her this.

"You must be be Samantha, it's nice to meet you" he extended his hand out to her but she just hid behind her mom's legs

"She gets gets nervous around strangers." I could tell she said this to hurt him, but it was true, sammy had never met her grandfather, he was just a stranger to her.

"And you're June, I'm Mike, Kiera's dad."

"Nice to meet you." I shook his hand and smiled.

"Well I should uh… I should get going then need to get some groceries for you guys, can't have you starving while you're here." he walked a bit closer to us, then handed something to Kiera.

"Here's some money, if you need. You can get pizza or something while I'm gone, I shouldn't be too too late, gotta do some uh, business." Kiera just gave the money back to him and walked away closer to the house. He handed the money to me instead.

"Thank you." I told him

"Make yourselves at home." He started walking toward his car.

"Bye Samantha, bye Kiera, Bye June." he waved to us then got in his car and drove off. We walked up to the front door again, then opened it and stepped inside.

"Wow."
