Chapter 1: Chapter 1
"So the equation will be E=mc^2 and----" the bell rang. "Don't forget to bring your homework tomorrow" Mr. Charles said as he packed his stuff.
Saved by the bell! Am I right? "Physics class is so boring" a brunette drooled as she followed a blonde. You know the whole saying that every blonde needs a brunette? Yeah! That was definitely what was going on with Brittany and her best friend Matilda.
Brittany Copper. The school's typical queen bee. Blonde, mean, arrogant, snobbish, rich, full blown hair and makeup, dating the school's football captain and quarterback, Jake. Then her bestfriend, Matilda Benson but everyone called her Maddie. Brunette, also rich, snobbish (Most people thinks she's just putting on act for Brittany and that she's really nice), dating the school's quarterback's bestfriend, Ken.
The both of them have been friends since they were babies. Their mothers were best friends but their dads hated each other. Here's the thing, Maddie's dad liked Brittany's mom but she married Brittany's dad. So Brittany's dad hates Maddie's dad cos he thinks he still likes his wife and Maddie's dad hates Brittany's dad cos he's still mad that Brittany's mom picked him over him.
Brittany sat at a table with some girls. She's the queen bee, of course she would have her own posse. "Maddie, I love your top. It's cut----" "Ew Maddie! That top is so last year" Brittany said and Maddie fiddled with her pink crop top that had some strings. "We're going shopping after school" she said and sipped her apple juice. The girls squealed excitedly and clapped for Brittany.
"Brittany!" someone cried out and they turned and saw Jake in his football blazer and Levi's. All the girls in the cafeteria started to fix their hair. Everyone wanted to be noticed by The Jake Styles. But something was wrong. Jake was crying.
"Brittany please, come back to me" he begged as soon as he got to their table. Ken came and held his shoulder while Maddie gave him that what-happened kind of look and he shrugged. "No need to communicate with your eyes" Brittany said and stood up, "Can I have everyone's attention?" she said and some people still talked. She rolled her eyes and sighed, "Everyone in this cafeteria, shut up!" she shouted and everyone shut up. She was not the queen of Disnee High School for nothing.
"Now that I have your attention, listen up! Jake Styles and I are not together anymore. We broke up this morning. So you can try and win him over, I really don't care anymore" she said and sat down. Everywhere was quiet for sometime but then, little squeals started coming from corners.
Both girls and boys were happy. Jake and Brittany were no longer together, which means they had a chance to date the king and queen of Disnee High School.
Jake cried. Everyone knew how he liked Brittany. He literally followed her everywhere like a puppy. "Brittany, please" he sobbed "Jake, you're so annoying and it's disturbing my meal, can you go now?" she said and he begged again. "That was an order, not a request!" she said and he got up and left.
Ken held Maddie's shoulder, "Please talk to her, you know how Jake is crazy over her" he whispered and she nodded then he kissed her cheek and left. Ken and Maddie really liked each other and it was evident.
After the cafeteria had settled down, Maddie turned to Brittany, "What gives Brittany?" "What gives what?" Brittany asked as she looked at her nails. "Why did you break up with Jake? Did he do anything?" "No! There's nothing wrong with him" "So why did you do it?" Maddie asked and Brittany sighed, "I got tired and bored". "What?!" Maddie whisper-shouted "Also, we would have not lasted. Opposites attracts" Brittany said "What?" "Maddie, darling, girls like me are meant to date a nerd and not a jock. Have you read any story where the popular girl ends up with a jock?" "I----" "No, right? I'm just following the universe. Opposites attracts and that's what I'm going to do. Date a nerd and live my perfect fairytale life".
Maddie sighed. There was no way she could convince Brittany. "Also, I don't want to see you talking to Ken again" Brittany said and Maddie's heart dropped, "What do you mean?" "I just broke up with Jake, you're meant to be on my side. A best friend supports her best friend. Jake is now the enemy, so I don't want to see you with Ken" Brittany said as she filed her nails. "Are you saying I should break up with Ken?" "Would you look at that? You are thinking the way I'm thinking" Brittany said and continued filing her nails.
Maddie didn't want to do it. Ken was the only guy she had ever liked and he liked her back. They made each other happy. But she had to do it. Afterall, Brittany had done so much for her. She had to repay her back. "All done! Isn't it cute Maddie?" Brittany asked as she showed her well manicured nails to Maddie but Maddie didn't answer. She was thinking how she was going to make Ken understand why she was breaking up with him.
Suddenly, Brittany let out a blood curdling scream that jolted Maddie from her thoughts. "My nail, it's... it's... it's broken!" Brittany said and began crying. Yup! She was also dramatic. "I can't breathe. I feel like I'm going to die" she said and got up then her girls carried her bag and her lunch while Maddie just followed suit.
They were almost out of the cafeteria when the tragedy, according to Brittany happened. A boy in suspenders and huge glasses, accidentally tripped and his lunch, which was mac and cheese fell on Brittany.
The whole cafeteria oohed as the cheese rolled down Brittany's perfect blonde hair. "I'm so sorry!" the boy said and Brittany clenched her fists in anger. Maddie knew what was coming. "You disgusting jerk! How dare you!" Brittany screamed "I'm sorry, some kids tripped me and----" "Do you know how much I spent to get my hair done and now it's ruined!" "I'm sorry!" the boy said again. "I don't need your pity! If your four eyes isn't enough, maybe, you should get a fifth one!" she said and screamed, "Worst day ever!" and she ran out of the cafeteria with her posse behind her.

"Einstein thought it was a good idea to make our lives miserable with formulas and laws" Mr. McKay joked and everyone laughed. "Maybe we should find his grave and burn it" he said and there was more laughter but then everyone stopped as soon as they saw Seth Williams.
"Mr. Williams, so glad that you could join us" Mr. McKay said and Seth rolled his eyes and went to sit at the back. His best bud, Zed was already there, "You got into trouble again?" he asked and Seth scoffed, "It was just a little fight!" he said and a purple-haired girl sitting in front of him turned and smiled, "Hey Seth" "Hi Sam!" he said obviously uninterested in having a conversation with her.
Seth was the school's bad boy. Never dated but always got the girl he wanted. Most them threw theirselves at him, and who was he to refuse them? But Samantha always got in his way. She went around telling all the girls that she was his. Yeah! He might have dated Samantha in tenth grade but they broke up and now, he just wanted to be free. Live high school the way he wanted and the way he wanted was the normal bad boy way.
"Hey! You seen Taylor?" Zed asked and Seth rolled his eyes. Zed and Taylor, always breaking up and making up. It was really annoying. But Seth loved them. They were his best friends. A girl with a dark wolfcut, jumped threw the window stealthily and sat down before Mr. McKay could notice. "Taylor!" Zed said and she hit Seth's head, "Bastard! Why didn't you wait for me?" she whispered but Seth didn't answer her.
He heard voices and squealed from outside the window and he looked outside. He saw a girl crying while her friends tried to remove whatever was stuck in her hair. The girl waved her hands to stop them then she entered her car and drove off.
"Are you checking out Brittany?" Taylor asked and Seth looked at her, "Who's Brittany?" he asked. "She's the queen of the school across. Rich, snobbish, full blown hair and makeup" "She sounds like a bitch!" Samantha said as she turned around "Hey Sam!" Taylor said sarcastically and Sam gave her a sarcastic smile.
Taylor and Sam had huge beef between them. It started when Sam tried to make a pass at Zed when Taylor and Zed were having a break. Although they were on a break, Zed still belonged to Taylor.
"So, who are you guys talking about?" Sam asked but Taylor and Seth did not answer her. "Brittany, she's a student from across" Zed said and Taylor glared at him. He was the only one nice to Sam. "Oh! She's your new toy?" she asked Seth who sighed and looked at her, "If she was my new toy, would you threaten her to leave me?" he asked and she leaned closer, "Of course, you belong to me sweetheart" she said and pecked his lips.
"Seth and Samantha, I think you guys can finish whatever it is you started in detention" Mr. McKay said and Seth rolled his eyes. He just wanted to be free and get laid. Why was it so hard?

Brittany stormed into her house and screamed, "Daddy!" "Brittany Hope Copper, I have told you times without numbers to stop screaming" a tall man in a grey suit said as he walked down the stairs. "And why are you here? Are you not meant to be in class?" "Some geek poured his lunch on me and it was mac and cheese. Mac and cheese". "That still doesn't give you the right to leave school when it's not over". "But----" "You would wash your hair immediately and leave for school else no allowance!" he said and tears formed in her eyes, "I hate you! I wish mom was here!" she said and ran to her room.
"Sir, I think that was too harsh" the maid, Lisa said and Scott looked at her, "She needs to know that life is not all about dresses, hair and makeup" he said and went back upstairs.
Brittany removed her hair extensions and fell on her bed and cried into her pillow. She once had long blonde hair that her mom loved brushing everytime before she went to bed, but, after her mom passed away, everything changed. She cut her hair, her dad's attitude towards her changed and the mansion had become so quiet. Now, she just used hair extensions.
Brittany took a picture from her bedside table and smiled at it. It was a picture of her, her mom and dad. Her dad was carrying her on his shoulders while her mom held her leg. They were smiling but now, her dad hardly smiled. "I miss you mom" she sobbed.

Brittany came out of her room at exactly 9:30pm. She looked left and right and when she didn't see anyone, she made for the door. As she was running to the door, she saw Lisa coming. She quickly hid behind a pillar and covered her mouth with her hand. After Lisa was gone, she ran outside and got into her car and drove off.

She sat on some rocks close to a lake. "I just don't understand him mom. He acts like I irritate him. Sometimes, I feel he doesn't love me" she said as she threw a stone into the lake. She could never make it skip.
She sighed and looked around. It was pretty dark but she could make out the trees surrounding the lake. The moon also gave out light. But without the moon, she could still make out which way to go because this place was her safety place. Her mom had loved the lake that she took her there almost everyday, so when she had died, it became the place Brittany could steal away to. Her comfort zone. It was the only place she could be herself.
She was suddenly jolted out of her thoughts by the crunching sound of someone stepping on some dried leaves. Her dad knew about her comfort zone and had warned her never to go there late at night but she was stubborn and never listened. But now, she wished she had listened.
Her shaky hands grabbed a branch that had fallen from a tree, as a weapon. The crunching sound came closer and she tightly gripped the branch. As soon as she saw a silhouette of the person, she swung the branch aggressively.
She heard a thud. The person had fallen down. It was time for her escape. But as she was about to run, the person held her ankle and dragged her down. This was it. The end.
"Shit!" the person said and she looked at him. It was a boy about her age. She couldn't make out his face as he was in a place where the moon could not reach. "Who are you?" she asked and he chuckled, "I could ask you the same thing".
