Chapter 3: running away

As the sun kissed the the watery sea, Lavender began to shift into her new wolf. Her wolf was pure white mixed with gold. "This is amazing!" Lavender said to Artemis who took over the body. Artemis nodded before slowly walking up the steps. Her ears were moving back and forth trying to hear if anyone was awake or near. When all she heard was even breathing she pushed the door open with her snout. As soon as the door opened Artemis rushed out of the hallway and out of the front door. She howled happily when she made it to the forest line. She darted through tree trunks and across the open fields. Her fur was blowing in the wind as soft splats of rain coated her fun. Artemis forgetting about pack territories jumped over the broken down fence and into the Blood Moon pack territory. Artemis's golden pawls hit the ground faster than light. She entered another territory. "A-artemis we should go back." Lavender said to which Artemis shook her head. "Lavender I am getting you away from here. Far enough away for you to reject him. He can't kill you if he can't get to you." She said through the mind link all Lavender could say was a quiet thank you. As Artemis sprinted through pack territories she had to stop for water and to hunt every so often. Once they were across country and further into the southern states. Virginia is where Artemis stopped at. She walked up to the tan three story building. Panting and sore she scratched at the door with her golden pawl. "What if they send us back?" Lavender asked Artemis. "They won't we have the mark of the goddess." Artemis said like it was normal. This left Lavender in deep confusion. "The golden fur, Lavender." Artemis answered the confused young adult. The white door opened and a gasp followed the sound of the creaky door. "You are Artemis, Goddess of the moon!" Artemis nodded and gently nuzzled the woman's leg. Artemis wiped her pawls before entering the pack house. "Shift." A strong demanding voice said. Artemis nodded before cracking of bones popping out of place filled the air. Lavender slipped on her clothes that were in Artemis's saddle bags. " My name is Lavender, I am looking for a new pack and Artemis brought me here." Lavender stated confidently. This shocked many people except for the man with the stern voice. His voice cut through the crowd who were all talking. "Why did you leave your pack, Artemis?" Artemis suddenly took over Lavender's mind. Lavender's eyes turned from her usual grey to a bright golden. "I left because our mate hurt us in many ways. The day he found out we were his mate, he purposely mated with a different women just to make us feel pain. He said if we reject him he would kill us." Artemis said honestly.                                                                     "My name is Chase Moon, but people call me Alpha around here. I have an offer for you Artemis." He said as he looked into Artemis's golden eyes. "What is your offer Alpha Moon." Artemis said while staring back into his eyes. "Beat me in a battle and you win the Alpha title along with the right to be on this territory. If you lose I tell your old Alpha where you are." He stuck out his hand which Artemis gladly excepted. "Deal, when is the battle?" She asked while she shook his hand "Noon today." He said while smirking. Artemis nodded and let go of his hand. Artemis took over my mind while she trained in the woods surround by trees and dead leaves.
