Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Sitting amidst the dew-covered bluegrass next to a small burbling stream, Jiang Yucheng lay there patiently with a bamboo-carved fishing rod in hand. His eyes narrowed as he stared into the water, an aura of intense concentration around him.

He was a young healthy-looking teenager of about fourteen years of age, dressed in a clean grey robe with a design reminiscent of an ancient Chinese drama, baggy cloth pants the color of squid ink, and bamboo sandals on his feet.

His black hair was messy and explosive, coming down to his shoulders like a messy crow nest, with a stray long bang coming down the side of his light peach-colored face. He had amused coffee-brown eyes with long lashes, and was all in all quite handsome, with a slim nose, cheeky grin, and a small nick on his neck.

Jiang Yucheng sighed, eyes looking up into the clouds high above. It was still honestly quite hard to believe what had happened.

Like so many in those light novels he'd read, Jiang Yucheng had crossed over to another world. But this was no ordinary world, this was a world where an energy known as qi proliferated the world, seeping into its very core, mutating ordinary animals into divine monsters the size of mountains, creating heavenly opportunities filled with bounty unlike any other, and of course, it allowed for humans to break their mortal bounds and cultivate, giving them immense unimaginable power.

This was the Celestial Pine World.

Jiang Yucheng propped his fishing rod against the side of a nearby rock carefully, letting the line go slack as he crossed his feet, breathing in and out softly as he closed his eyes. A faint refreshing breeze blew over him as he found himself somewhere else in the depths of his mind.

Within the body of every living being in this world was a place so mysterious that even after countless millennia, the likes of Sages and Immortals were still attempting to find its secrets. This was the source of one's cultivation, the Spirit Sea.

Everyone had a slightly different Sea, it was said to be influenced by the person's bloodline along with their personality. Jiang Yucheng looked around his Spirit Sea. It was stormy and grey, the waves crashing about, spraying up in geysers of turbid water, stingy salt spray constantly in his face. In the near distance, one could make out the silhouettes of giant waterfalls, descending down from the cloudy dark sky above.

But what was most remarkable about his Spirit Sea was the giant vorpal sun sitting in the sky above. It was a void black, seeming to suck in one's soul when they looked at it. The sun was surrounded by a mane of azure blue rays swirled around it in a vortex.

Jiang Yucheng admired it for a second before looking down at his bare feet. He was standing upon the water as if it were a solid surface. Some really xianxia-style stuff to be honest.

He wasn't sure as to why he had that black vortex sun in his Spirit Sea. It looked pretty cool, but he hadn't really seen it do anything yet. It didn't impact his cultivation in any way, nor did it provide any other use. Jiang Yucheng wondered if something would change later on, when he reached a higher stage.

In the Celestial Pine World, there were countless levels of cultivation. With each level, not only would one grow stronger, but their lifespan would also increase. He was currently in the very first stage of cultivation, the Spirit Awakening Stage.

To achieve this stage, one had to awaken their Spirit Sea. It either happened through natural means, such as a life-threatening incident, or through constant patience and dedication. Jiang Yucheng had taken the constant patience and dedication option, going into deep meditation in the secluded forest.

There, he had attempted to achieve a sense of absolute zen, trying to reach out and activate the Spirit Sea that lay dormant within him. After five weeks of lonesomeness and some other crap, he'd managed to open the floodgates in a sense, stepping out onto the road of cultivation.

At the Spirit Awakening Stage, a mortal transcended the limits of humanity and became a cultivator. With this, they gained the strength to uproot giant boulders, sense danger before it arrived, and run faster than a horse. Most importantly was that they gained a semblance of control over qi, allowing them to absorb it into their Spirit Sea to cultivate, use it to create pills, enhance themselves, create constructs, etc.

It took a person with a decent cultivaion aptitude from five to six weeks to a month or two, to acheive the first Stage. Of course, their were the geniuses and prodigies who only took less than a day to reach this stage, and the most common, the people who simply just couldn't cultivate.

Sighing, he sat down within his Spirit Sea, amidst the turbid grey waters and immersed himself. Despie the constant chaos of the waves, not a single drop fell on Jiang Yucheng as he felt the outer world around him become a haze, strands of natural qi collecting into his body.

Before he even knew it, hours had passed as he immersed himself in this cultivation. As the minutes passed, Jiang Yucheng's thoughts began to wander off towards that black sun in his Spirit Sea. As strange as it was, the transmigrator also felt that their was a sense of famiiarity too it. He didn't know why, but Yucheng was always met with a tange of nostalgia every time he saw it.

As waves of water passed around him, Jiang Yucheng slowly looked up at the sun witin his Spirit Sea.

He racked his brain for an answer to this constant feeling of recognization. As qi gathered from around into the sea, a sudden random thought appeared in Jiang Yucheng's mind. Cats. What about cats? He did not kn-

Battle Cats. This black sun looked awfully like the sun that always sat their ominously in the backdrop of a Battle Cats level. This sun looked alot like the Cat God! Jiang Yucheng smirked in his head. How strange was it to think that this random astral body in his Spirit Sea looked so much like a character from a gacha game about cats conquering the world.

He shook his head. There was no way that they had anything to do with each other. Absolutely no way.

But as he did so, Jiang Yucheng suddenly noticed something happening. The black sun's blue rays began to swirl faster and faster, as the bleak cloudy sky above literally began to part way, clouds dispersing to show a starry galaxy above, planets and celestial bodies dotting a dark blue skyscape.

And then, the black sun opened its eyes. Out of nowhere, a pair of circular eyes glowing bright red appeared on its black surface, blinking slowly.

Jiang Yucheng was completely stunned at this point. Those red eyes… This was definitely the dormant state of the Cat God. There was no way this was something merely coincidental. That would be way too far-fetched.

Before his very eyes, Yucheng watched in utter fascination as the sun morphed into something else. Descending from the sky above with a billowing mane of azure blue hair, was a humanoid figure comparable to the size of the Statue Of Liberty. The figure was seemingly sculpted from marble, with rippling muscles that could make a Greek God blush. And of course, one could not forget to mention the humanoid figure's face. His head was circular and rounded, a pale shade of white that was a stark contrast to the rest of his humanoid body. He had two tiny black eyes that looked like beads, a posh feline nose and an open-fanged mouth.

There was no doubting it anymore. Jiang Yucheng stood in the presence of the Cat God.

As he stood on his Spirit Sea in wonder, a loud rather chill-sounding masculine voice broke out.

"You call me? I'm God." The Cat God said lazily, posing like he was a part of Michelangelo's 'The Creation Of Adam' with a flippant nonchalance.

"Y-you… Are God?" Jiang Yucheng's voice cracked in shock, still failing to comprehend his current situation.

"Yup. You don't have to copy me. Anyway, since I'm bored, I'll give you something." Cat God flexed his giant bicep, arm stretching out as he offhandedly pointed at Yucheng.

Jiang Yucheng turned in shock as a giant blossom of blue light exploded out of Cat God's index finger, blinding him completely.

Jiang Yucheng felt his consciousness return to the real world as he snapped forwards, sweat pooling down his face. A brief breeze blew through his hair and a stray sparrow flitted above.
