Chapter 42: The Day of Challenge: Part 1
Maria updated me on the events that has happened so far. First was the rise of a new religion of different deities and one almighty deity. Different villages migrated here after hearing that gods and goddesses resides in that village, multiple village relocated and the result is a small town. Next is that those that have participated in the training course had already graduated and they are now the defense forces of the town. Manasa wrote a book about her knowledge of medicines and passed it to a few women and she is now worshipped as the deity of snakes. The other elders of my sects are also being worshipped as deities that protects the town, the townsmen would gather offerings as tributes for them.
I went back to the academy after being updated about the village. The next morning came, multiple families were on their way to watch their children display their skills in an actual battle. I greeted the parents that entered and escorted them to their seats. The students were getting nervous as this will be their first time to be thrown in a danger zone without guards nor anybody to protect them. There are two games, the first is a one vs one duel and the second would be a battle royale in the forest. In the battle royale, they would be given an artifact that coats the user with a barrier with a certain amount of durability and once the barrier has been broken, the bracelet will teleport them back in the academy waiting room.
"Everybody, don't be nervous and just do your best, do not hold back just because your enemies are your own friends or classmates, give your all in this event!", I shout to give them confidence.
"Don't worry teacher, we'll be taking the top spots in this competition.", Delia North confidently says.
"Don't underestimate your enemies just because you've gotten a little stronger, you don't know what kind of tricks they are hiding.", I say.
They've certainly gotten stronger but they shouldn't let their guard down, I haven't fully met all of the lower class students so it'll best if they are careful.
The trumpets sounded, and the students went on to the arena. Now that I can see them properly, I'll see how strong they are compared to my students. The duels began, the fierce battle between students was able to shake the ground and their projectile magic could hit the noble audience, the headmaster installed a large barrier between the seats and the arena just in case projectiles were to hit them.
Delia North froze her enemy, Ahren Von Ascania used the magic 'blind' to temporary blind his enemy and used the magic that I used to shut him up. Lyla on the other hand, she's... dual casting!? Dual casting is a hard feat since you'll need amazing control at your magic that's why mages usually stay with one magic at a time and only use dual casting as a last resort against powerful monsters, her talent is amazing.
It seems they've successfully won including the dark mage students, for the last event, a battle between mages and monsters will occur. I wonder how will this conclude, an event where a teacher cannot interfere in, a forest filled with monsters and with a built in labyrinth to give the students more difficulty in winning.
