Chapter 44: Chapter 43

No one had ever escaped any of his antics before... No one!.

This had taken him by surprise. He hadn't expected such a thing to happen.

Actually he couldn't believe it.

This was not normal. Of course, how could it be normal when the boy's eyes were glowing purple in color?.

"You're a druid? No wonder you're after the star. I should have known that you're a supernatural being just like me!". Ferlio exclaimed.

'Of course I am. I got that from my Mother's side'. Lucky thought with a small smile realising that his eyes which had never glowed before, were what had sold him out. It's not like he intended to keep his "druid powers" from the phoenix, but as long as they came out in handy in defense, then there was no problem.

This was one goal for Lucky. He had a lot in store for the older phoenix. This was his advantage, he knew about the creature but the creature knew nothing about him.

How could Ferlio have been stupid not to realize that the boy was actually not just any human?. It was now that he decided to take in the scent of the boy, Ferlio had a powerful sense of smell that hadn't failed him over the years he had been locked up under the Mountain Channel so he would be able to smell the boy even with the distance between them.

The boy smelt funny. Ferlio almost sneezed with the way his nose felt squeezed at the edge. His nostrils flared a little with the tingling sensation.

There was the scent of magic and.. and something else. Something he couldn't quite place his finger on. Perhaps it was the star's magic in him that was emitting that other smell that he couldn't understand.

But wouldn't the star's scent be that of magic?. It was just a mass of gas, energy and magic. Therefore, the star shouldn't smell so different from the magic in the lad.

Moreover, if it wasn't the star's scent, it was something else.

Obviously, if he had failed to realise of the boy's status before, it was the star enhancing the boy's powers now making it known of what the boy was.

"You and I have one thing in common then". Ferlio added realising that he needed another plan so as to get that star.

Lucky gave out a small smirk, "No. You got it wrong Ferly, you and I? have nothing in common".

'Did this kid just shorten out his name? Whom did he think he was?'. Ferlio thought, 'This boy truly had the guts to dare him out'. Lucky read it all.

At last, it felt good to finally get his abilities back since he had felt useless before by not being able to read the bird's mind.

At a point, Lucky wondered what Ferlio's human form looked like hundreds of years ago and the full abilities that he had that threatened the supernatural council and the Phoenix clans to have him locked up.

"Yes we do. You're magical and I am as well". Ferlio replied trying to ignore the boy's remark about his name. He had decided to fight the boy instead so as to teach him a lesson.

Otherwise, how would he prove that actions were louder than words?.

"You're greedy and I'm not". Lucky remarked. This was getting better. He was very confident that he would defeat the phoenix in front of him.

This boy was clearly teasing him.

"You think so?". Ferlio questioned, his eyes narrowed at Lucky.

With the same smirk on his face, he replied, "No, I know so".

It had dawned on him that Ferlio wasn't as powerful as the scroll had implied. Or he was powerful just that his powers hadn't fully recovered back in his body which meant that Ferlio needed a lot of training so as to get back in shape but in the mean time, Lucky would be able to beat Ferlio.

"Let's stop playing dumb with each other here. We're not kids". Ferlio started eyeing the boy in front of him up and down.

'Oh so he wants us to negotiate'. Lucky thought.

"True. We're not kids. So?". Lucky questioned.

"We both want the star. You're a druid and I'm a powerful phoenix. Together we can rule over the whole world side by side. Give me the star and we shall build the dynasty together". Ferlio offered.

Lucky's smirk widened. As much as the offer was tempting, he was not interested in ruling over the world even the thought of ruling over the FireWing clan as the next chief was pretty exhausting.

Now ruling over the world? Wouldn't he die!?.

In addition to that, he would never make a deal with wicked and greedy beings like Ferlio.

"Not interested". Lucky said letting out a sigh of exhaustion. He felt worn out and standing like this in the middle of the air was adding to the exhaustion he felt.

If the boy wasn't interested in making a deal with him, Ferlio would kill him then.

"Oh?". Was Ferlio's response looking at Lucky as if he was belittling him.

Deciding to surprise the boy with his next attack, Ferlio decided to use the little magic he had learnt years ago. If he couldn't create a fireball, then, he could use his little magic to create what he wanted so as to kill the boy.

Lucky knew what Ferlio was planning. He had to prepare himself for what was coming. It was either he used his druid powers for defense or the crossbow which he had a tight hold of at the moment if he didn't want to be killed.

He had to prepared for everything and anything.

Roma and Mirida kowtowed to show their respect. The Jade Being stood in front of them, hands at the back and the long clock he had worn blew a little due to the small present wind.

"Arise". He instructed and they obeyed.

"We- we weren't expecting you to come here my lord". Roma said with a small bow.

The Jade Being turned so that he was now looking at the maroon phoenix and the boy floating in the air taunting each other.

"He's weak and injured. This is the best moment for Lucky to finish him off". Jade Being said before tilting his head to the side and looked at the woman laying unconscious on the forest floor.

He raised a brow in question which Mirida was quick to answer, "She is Lucky's mother. We gave her a new identity and body my lord".

"I know this was not part of the plan formerly but we had no other way to get close to the boy". Roma added, falling down on her knees again though the Jade Being's back was facing her, "My apologies my lord".

Mirida seeing her sister on her knees, she also did the same. The Jade Being was no ordinary being and no one dared to offend him in any way. Respect was the number one rule while obedience followed, discreetness was another which no one dared to defile.

"I see. At least she didn't come in between my plans and that's all that matters". Jade Being replied, eyeing the woman again before turning to look at Lucky and Ferlio.

'That was odd. He ought to be in a good mood today'. Roma thought.

"We accept punishment". Roma and Mirida said in unison. Head bowed down though the Jade Being wasn't even looking at them.

He needed them to go away from here even though they also wanted to witness the fall of the great bird.

"Go take care of your fellow witch. Stay away from Lucky for now until I tell you otherwise". The Jade Being ordered.

"Yes my lord". Roma and Mirida replied before standing up as quickly as they could and rushing to where Akaya was before disappearing in thin air.

'Even in their old age, they're fast enough to win a marathon'. Jade Being thought as he looked at where the witches had disappeared from before turning his head to look at Lucky.

It would be a lie if he said that he didn't admire the boy. Not everyone survived the Star of Salvation's hit. Most people died immediately causing the star's magic to fade away which he thought as wastage of power and energy.

Another thing that baffled him was the fact that Roma and Mirida had not told Akaya more about the star.

It's arrival in earth caused the reborn of two beings; a powerful witch which Akaya had now become and an undefeated warrior which he greatly wished to be Lucky.

Jade Being knew Ferlio was aware of this. If not, why did he want to negotiate with the boy? If Ferlio became the warrior and Lucky the powerful druid, the world would become a small place for both of them.

Lucky was prone to greatness while Ferlio was prone to pain or even worse, death.

Jade Being was determined, he'd do anything possible to squeeze out the life out of Ferlio while he'd shape out the warrior out of Lucky.

Lucky was simply not only going to be his weapon against chaos but also his gateway to greatness that no man could imagine.
