Chapter 9: Chapter 8 Part 2 A Favor As A Discount.

(Okay so this is the part-2, do read part 1 ... And like always hope you enjoy the read.)

And so, the awaited day arrived.

"There are no absences today. It appears everyone is present," Chabashira-sensei announced, her confident stride echoing through the classroom. A bold smile adorned her face as she continued, "That's the first hurdle for you leftovers. Are there any questions?"

"We've diligently studied these past few weeks. I don't anticipate anyone failing," Hirata remarked, his smile mirroring the teacher's confidence.

"Oh my. You sound quite confident, Hirata," she replied with a hint of amusement.

With precision, she began distributing the Social Studies papers. Among all our subjects, Social Studies seemed like one where securing marks qwas practically guaranteed.

Switching to E-mode, I shifted my focus entirely to the tests. It was time to transition from the lighthearted persona to the focused individual ready to conquer the battlefield of exams. Though I set it to the lowest level, I knew acing the test would be a breeze.

"Well then, if anyone fails this test, they might just be one of the unluckiest ones. Once it's over, you'll be rewarded with a solitary summer vacation on a deserted island," Chabashira-sensei revealed, injecting a note of dread into our anticipated summer break.

"A vacation?" Ike's surprised voice broke the tense atmosphere.

"That's right. A dream vacation on an island surrounded by the brilliant blue sea," Chabashira-sensei confirmed, her tone almost mocking.

I ignored their antics about swimsuits and focused on the task at hand. When the papers were handed out, I resolved to showcase my abilities.

...

Finally, the exams concluded. However, it seemed one student might be in trouble-Sudo Ken. Despite knowing I could intervene, I refrained, allowing the plot I had devised to unfold naturally. The discount phase would be crucial to my plan.

Setting aside my scheming, Sudo admitted to not revising his English papers, putting him at risk.

...

Results Day arrived with palpable tension in the air as Chabashira-sensei entered the classroom, her gaze sweeping over the students. Everyone awaited the announcement with bated breath.

"Sensei, we were told the results would be announced today, but when?" Hirata, our class hero, voiced the question on everyone's mind.

"There's no need to get so worked up, Hirata. You should have passed quite easily," she reassured him, acknowledging his excellence before delivering the news that pierced everyone else's hearts.

"So, when will the results be released?" Hirata inquired further.

"Well, if you'd like, now is as good a time as any. If we waited until after class, we wouldn't have enough time for other procedures," she replied, fulfilling my preconceived prophecy.

Other procedures.

Meaning he didn't make the cut.

"Can you please elaborate, Sensei?" Hirata redirected, asking a question different from his canon self due to his enhanced knowledge. Sadly, it wouldn't be enough.

"Despite what I just said, you don't seem scared at all, eh? Anyway, here are your results, Class-D," she announced, affixing the results on a chart paper to the whiteboard with magnets.

"Honestly, I'm impressed. I didn't think you'd score so well. Many students achieved perfect scores in mathematics, Japanese, and social studies. More than eleven of you, actually," she declared. The mention of eleven brought a subtle smile to my lips. Despite my altered E-mode, I couldn't help but feel remorseful for using Sudo in this endeavor. However, it was a necessary move for my plan.

Some of the students erupted in joy and delight upon seeing the perfect 100s lined up on the results sheet. However, not everyone shared in the jubilation. Sudou's English score was the only grade that truly mattered.

Then-

We observed Sudou's test scores. He had achieved sixty points in four of the five main subjects, which was quite impressive. However, in English, he had only managed thirty-nine points.

"Yes!" Sudou leapt up, his joy reverberating in the room. Ike and Yamauchi joined in, cheering loudly. Notably, there was no red line marking failure next to Sudou's name. Horikita didn't display any outward signs of celebration, but a sense of relief was evident in her demeanor.

"We showed you, sensei! When we really put in the effort, we can accomplish anything!" Ike boasted, wearing a self-assured grin.

"Yes, I acknowledge that. You all performed admirably. However-" Chabashira-sensei paused, holding a red pen in her hand.

Sudou involuntarily exclaimed, "Huh?"

She drew a red line above Sudou's name. "Wh-what is that? What does that mean?" Fear crept into Sudou's voice.

"You failed, Sudou," she declared bluntly.

"Huh? You're lying, right? Don't give me that crap! Why did I fail?" His voice shook with disbelief.

"Sudou, you failed the English exam. That's all," she stated coldly.

"Don't screw with me! I got thirty-nine points! I passed!" He protested vehemently.

"When did anyone say that thirty-nine points was a passing grade?" She revealed another harsh truth.

"No, no. You said so, sensei! Right, everyone?" Ike shouted in support.

"Say whatever you want, but it won't change the outcome. This is the undeniable truth. You needed at least forty points to pass the midterm exam. In other words, you were just one point short. You were so close," she explained, revealing crucial information.

"F-forty?! You never told us about this! I won't accept it!" Sudou protested adamantly.

"Should I explain how we determine the passing grade?" She issued the challenge, proceeding to do so.

Chabashira-sensei wrote a simple formula on the blackboard: 79.6 divided by 2 equals 39.8.

"We set a passing grade for each individual class, just as we did for the last test. We calculated that number by dividing the average score by two. That's how we arrived at our answer," she clarified.

Clang!

Hirata suddenly rose from his seat, the sound drawing the attention of the entire class. Horikita followed suit, standing beside him.

Observing their actions, Sensei glanced at both of them. "Okay, now what do you have to say? Hmm? Horikita and Hirata."

They exchanged nods before Horikita spoke up with determination. "Sensei, can you inform us of the private points required to nullify Sudo's expulsion?" Despite her resolve, I knew it wouldn't be enough.

After all, I couldn't request such a favor as a public discount in front of the entire class.

"20 million. If you can gather it now, I can intervene immediately," she replied, her gaze fixed on both of them.

Silence.

It blanketed the classroom for the next several seconds.

Suddenly, the two heroes concocted a plan to save Sudo, but even their efforts fell short. It swept in like a breeze and departed like a gust.

"What!?"

"So, if we had 20 million private points, we could actually save him?"

"That's just so close."

Soon, various murmurs rippled through the class, signaling that many students had grasped the mindset I aimed to instill - the importance of saving private points for future contingencies, a pivotal part of my plan.

With that, Chabashira exited the class, casting a fleeting glance in my direction.

Clang!

As I rose from my desk, it emitted a faint sound, catching the attention of a few observant classmates.

"Where are you headed, Ayanokouji-kun?" queried one of them.

"To the washroom," I replied simply, deliberately catching the eyes of the two students, conveying a silent message.

'Ayanokouji-kun hasn't given up,' their thoughts seemed to echo as they followed me out.

"So, what's your next move, Ayanokouji?" Horikita inquired, her curiosity evident as her tension dissipated. It seemed I had earned a considerable degree of trust from her.

"Yeah, although I think you should have addressed it in class," remarked Hirata, his optimism still lingering.

"Don't worry, Hirata. Resolving it this way might turn out better in the end. Besides, I stumbled upon another intriguing loophole, though it should have been addressed within the class," I reassured them, aware of their differing perspectives.

Hirata might welcome the recognition of my capabilities, while Horikita would likely scrutinize my true intentions.

And soon, we arrived at our destination.

As usual, one student faced expulsion, a significant loss to the class despite his intellectual contributions. Meanwhile, Chabashira nonchalantly smoked a cigarette, unperturbed by the gravity of the situation.

"Horikita, Hirata, and Ayanokouji, hmm. Did you manage to gather the required points?" she inquired, a glimmer of hope flickering in her eyes, though I sensed it wasn't for what she implied.

"Unfortunately, no. We're here to discuss something deeper and personal. Two things, actually," I replied, getting straight to business. Her gaze met mine, and for a moment, I let the darkness within me surface, causing even her to flinch. Fortunately, my facade remained intact, shielded by the obliviousness of those behind me.

"Go on," she urged.

"Do you believe Japanese society is truly equitable? And is it wise to cling to a thread of hope when in dire need?" I queried, returning to my usual demeanor, the transition akin to switching E-modes.

"No, I find it hard to believe in the equity of Japanese society. And hoping without the requisite ability seldom yields the desired outcome," she answered, a sentiment I couldn't help but agree with, reminiscing about my past shortcomings.

"Yeah, I agree," I concurred, lost in thought for a moment, reflecting on days gone by.

"Sigh! As much as you dwell on it, Sudo's expulsion remains irreversible," she stated, dropping the final clue for the two individuals behind me.

"Then there's a chance to overturn it at some point, correct?" I sought confirmation, though I knew the answer.

"Sensei!" Horikita interjected suddenly, her tone betraying a newfound revelation.

"If so, could we purchase the single point needed for Sudo's English test?" she asked, determination etched on her face, surprising both Hirata and me.

"Yes, that's a possibility. Just procure 100,000 private points, and the deal is sealed," Chabashira-sensei confirmed, her satisfaction evident. Besides me, another student had managed to navigate the S system to her advantage.

"Also, could I request a small discount?" I interjected.

"But Ayanokouji, aside from your inquiries, you haven't contributed," she countered, a fair assessment. However, I had anticipated such trivialities, a hallmark of being myself.

"Read this," I said, offering her a piece of paper containing a few sentences: "Horikita will devise another strategy to aid Sudo, specifically purchasing the necessary mark."

"So you had predicted this much, huh," she remarked, acknowledging my foresight.

"Yeah, unless Doraemon or Whis would help me, I would have no way of obtaining it," I replied, attempting to inject a bit of humor into the situation.

"I see. So what's your little discount?" she inquired.

"But first, let's purchase Sudo's marks," I suggested, leading the way as we transferred our private points to her account. "Alright, with this, you can inform the class that he no longer faces expulsion," I instructed, glancing at them.

"So you're not going to let us hear it, huh," she remarked, to which I simply nodded. "Besides, you already know most of it."

"I see," she acknowledged as she and Hirata departed, the latter expressing gratitude before leaving.

"Now, are you planning to tell me?" she asked, curious about the discount I intended to request.

"Call that man to this school," I stated, my tone serious and unwavering.

I noticed her eyes widen in surprise. "And why would I need to do that for you?" she retorted, her irritation palpable.

"Let's make a deal. Two conditions. First, I will never leave this class. Second, if our class fails to reach Class-C after our vacation on the deserted island, I may face expulsion or you may reveal my abilities to my friends. I'll admit everything. How does that sound?" I proposed, presenting two seemingly random conditions that had materialized in my mind.

She pondered my proposition before finally agreeing, sealing our agreement.

With this, my plans shall commence - plans to reshape this entire world eventually.

(What is E-mode? It is the emotional state of Mc. Basically his personality... He can turn from a light, normal and joking teen to a badass guy who shows no mercy. And yes lastly do say the parts that needs improvements in the story.)
