Today was finally the day of when the Silver Conference battles would start. The gang were in the Pokémon center, and they were looking at a big chart which should what trainer will be facing who in the semi-finals.
Ashlyn was in group H and her two opponents were a girl, with reddish brown hair, and a boy with light brown hair. Ashlyn remembered that her name was Macey, a Fire Type Pokémon Trainer.
"Don't forget Ashlyn, you have to earn 3 or more points to win the round-robin tournaments." Brock reminded her.
Ashlyn hadn't forgotten that and she couldn't wait to start battling.

Once they gang were outside the Pokémon center, they ran into one of Ashlyn's opponents. It was Macey from Mahogany Town.
"I know you are my first opponent Ashlyn," Macey said, "and let me tell you, my fire Pokémon and I will beat you in a flash."
"So that means you are a Fire Pokémon trainer then?" Ashlyn asked.
"That's right." Macey replied.
Macey started talking about how she loved fire Pokémon and how cool they were; just like how Misty does with water Pokémon.
Misty thought that Macey was annoying, Brock and Volkner saw Misty's face and sweat dropped at it. However, Flint really admired Macey for her love of Fire Pokémon.
"I'll see you in our battle, Ashlyn." Macey said and she took off.

A few hours before it was Ashlyn's time to battle Macey, the gang were in their room. Brock was using the computer to look up Macey. She was a Fire Pokémon trainer all right; she had a Vulpix, Quilava, Slugma, a Flareon and a Houndoom. And, to the gang's surprise, she had an Electabuzz.
"She obviously uses Electabuzz to battle Water type Pokémon," Misty stated, "So what Pokémon are you going to use, Ashlyn?"
"Chomper, Coraline, and Tesla." Ashlyn replied.
"Those are good choices." Brock commented.
Ashlyn nodded, "Yup."

Later that day, it was time for Ashlyn's match against Macey. It was held in stadium B. The referee explained that substitutes were allowed during the match; that was different with the Indigo League, because substituting Pokémon cost the trainer a point. But this time the trainers wouldn't lose a point.
Volkner, Flint, Misty and Brock were seating on the bench behind Ashlyn.
Macey sent out her first Pokémon; a Slugma.
"Slug!" It said as it appeared on the field.
Ashlyn sent out her first Pokémon; Coraline the Shiny Corsola.
"Corsola!" Coraline said as she appeared on the field.
"Good choice in choosing Coraline." Misty commented.
"Yeah. Fire is weak against Rock and Water." Brock agreed.
"Coraline, use Bubble Beam!" Ashlyn ordered.
"Slugma, use Ember!" Macey countered.
Both attacks slammed into each other, causing smoke to cover the area.
"Now use Blizzard!" Ashlyn commanded.
Coraline opened her mouth and a blizzard is released. Slugma flinched at the drop temperature in front of it. Ice started to form around its lower part.
"Quick Slugma, use Overheat!" Macey called out.
Slugma used Overheat to melt the ice around itself.
"Okay Slugma let's use Double Team." Slugma made multiple copies of itself, but Coraline remained calm.
"Alright Coraline use Surf." Coraline summoned a huge tidal wave and rode on it. The surf attack crashed down on Slugma, destroying the copies and then Slugma fainted.
"Oh no Slugma!" Macey shouted.
"Way to go, Coraline!" Ashlyn cheered.
Coraline smiled, "La!"
Macey returned Slugma and let out her second Pokémon: Electabuzz.
"Buzz!" It said as it appeared on the field.
Ashlyn returned Coraline and turned to Tesla, "Tesla, want to go?"
Tesla nodded, "Raichu!"
Then she got onto the field in front of her trainer.
"Electabuzz, use your Dynamic Punch!" Electabuzz's right hand glowed white.
"Tesla, dodge, then use Rock Smash." Tesla dodged the punch, then her arm glowed and she punched Electabuzz in the stomach, making it slide back.
"No Electabuzz!" Macey gasped, "How strong is her Raichu? Electabuzz, use Brick Break." Electabuzz charged in at Tesla with a Brick Break attack.
"Tesla dodge and then Rock Smash again." Tesla dodged the Brick Break attack and then punched Electabuzz again with a more powerful Rock Smash attack.
Electabuzz fainted with swirls in its eyes.
"No Electabuzz!" Macey shouted.
"Great job, Tesla." Ashlyn smiled.
Tesla turned around and smiled as she gave a peace sign.
Macey returned Electabuzz and let out her last Pokémon: Quilava.
"Lava!" Quilava said as it appeared on the field.
"Tesla, come back." Ashlyn ordered.
Tesla nodded and went back to her trainer's side and onto her shoulder. Ashlyn petted her head.
"You really did great." Ashlyn smiled.
"Rai!" Tesla smiled back.
Ashlyn let out her last Pokémon: Chomper.
"Feraligatr!" Chomper roared as he appeared on the field.
"Quilava, use Swift!" Quilava summoned a bunch of stars and threw them towards Chomper.
"Protect and then Mud-Slap!" Chomper projected a green colored barrier in front of himself, making the stars bounced off the barrier. Then he spat out globs of mud from his mouth which hit Quilava in the face, slightly blinding it.
"Quilava!" Macey called out as Quilava was trying to get the mud out of its eyes.
"Now Hydro Pump!" Chomper's red spikes on his head started to glow light red and he released a powerful blast of water from his mouth at Quilava.
The Volcano Pokémon cried out in pain from the water attack which sent it tumbling across the field. When it stopped, it showed Quilava with swirling eyes, it fainted.
"Quilava is unable to battle!" The referee announced, "This match goes to Ashlyn Ketchum!"
"Alright Chomper!" Ashlyn cheered.
"Gatr!" Chomper roared happily.
So, Ashlyn won her first round-robin tournament; earning her three points and Macey none.
Ashlyn and Macey congratulated each other and shook hands. Volkner, Misty, Brock, and Flint congratulated her as well.
"You were great out there, Ashlyn." Volkner said.
"Yeah, Tesla, Coraline, and Chomper sure have gotten stronger." Misty added.
"I agree." Flint agreed.
"So Ashlyn, you only need to win your next round-robin battle and then you can qualify for the final battles." Brock said.
Ashlyn couldn't wait for her next challenge.
