Chapter 34: Hybrid vs Demon Junior

"What are you?" Mumbled Max in a low tone but that didn't escape the ears of the girl who began to chuckle.

"Are you surprised? Kuku Kuku..." The girl kept chuckling for some time then all of a sudden, she stopped laughing and wore a serious face. "What did I tell you?... Stay away from me, didn't I warn you to not cross paths with me?" She asked in a cold tone while approaching Max who began to move backwards. "You are alone this time and wounded as well but I won't let you leave here alive! I warned you before but because you are too strong-headed, you refused to mind your business. Tell me why you are adamant about saving this school?" The girl stopped walking, she glared at Max waiting for him to speak but he didn't say a word. "Nothing to say?"

"You are a demon!" Max said to the surprise of the girl. She furrowed her brows while glaring intently at Max, no one knew about her real identity so how come he knows?!

"Since you are aware of who I am, why don't you join me? I have no desire to kill you because I find you interesting, what do you say?" The girl spoke. Since he already knew about who she is, there was no need to pretend or try to deny it. She would be glad if he joins her, that way she would make him her servant.

"That will be over my dead body!" Max said and spat out causing the girl to turn red with anger.

"Idiot! I'll teach you a lesson today! Do you think you can fight me? I am a demon junior on the peak of becoming a demon senior, a hundred lesser demons can't stand a chance to defeat me! You! A mere human has insulted me and I will deal with you!" The girl roared as her eyes turned white. Black smoke began to rise from her body and soon she was floating in the air. "When I'm done with you, I'll make your stupid friend my slave! haha hahaha.." She laughed as those black smokes kept fluttering around her palm. She stretched her palm out facing Max and then the smokes rushed at him and circled his neck, gripping him hard.

Max tried pulling the smokes out of his neck but his attempts were useless against them, his eyes were slowly turning red and his breathing was becoming uneasy.

"Master, Do you need my help? You have already been exhausted from the first fight," Boone said through mind-link.

"No! Don't! I don't need your help, I will show her that I am her grandpa!" Max replied between gritted teeth.

"I can decide to let you go, only if you become my servant, what do you say?" The girl asked with a smirk on her face. She watched as Max's struggle began to get weak and she knew that he would not be able to keep up, yet, she didn't want to kill him.

"I'll rather make you my servant!" Max mumbled while glaring at her. "Shadow claws!" He whispered and immediately, dark fogs gathered and formed a shadow claw. The girl didn't see it because it was only a shadow. The shadow claw crept up behind her and held her head, with one push, she was sent flying to a wall.

The grip on Max's neck lessened as the smoke dispelled gradually until all was gone. He rubbed his neck as he let out a relieved sigh. "That was close!" He mumbled and looked in the direction where the girl had fallen. To his surprise, she was no longer there. He didn't know when she disappeared but before he could do anything, he received a blow at his back. "Ahh!...." He yelled as he slammed into a wall.

"Do you think you can defeat me so easily? Tsk! What an idiot!" The girl asked in disdain and began to walk towards where Max had fallen.

Max hearing her footsteps, pushed himself up with great difficulty. The fight with the three monsters weakened him greatly, he didn't know how long he would last but he needed to defeat the demon-junior. "Shadow claw," he said and the shadow claw appeared again. He waited for the girl to get close enough to him and when she did, the shadow clawed her from behind and came out through the front.

"Ahhhhh!" The girl yelled as she looked down, she saw the blood gushing out from the open wound and pains began to surge through her veins. "Wh-what have you done to me?" Though the pain was eating her, she could not believe her eyes, she could not believe that a human could defeat her.

"I just took your heart!" Max replied calmly. The bloody heart fell on his palm right before the girl's eyes. "You will die soon, the only way you can live is by becoming my slave. What do you say?" There was a sly smile on his face as he spoke.

"You! Argh....!" The girl tried to talk but the pain stopped her from talking. She was enraged by the outcome of the whole thing, this wasn't what she had planned, she planned to either kill him or make him her servant. Unfortunately, she failed and instead got hurt.

"You have no choice! I'll count to ten, make the choice hastily or I'll crush it and once it's done, you will be dead," Max warned and tightened his grip on the heart.

While he kept counting with a grin on his face, the girl could not help but feel angry the more. She had never imagined that a day would come when she will be put in a situation like this, if she had known, she would have killed him right from the beginning. What was she going to tell her fellow demon juniors?..... That she became a slave to a human, a kid for that matter. Wouldn't be a shame on her path? But... if she dies, wouldn't it be the worst? At a time like this, she needed to put pride aside and do the needful. Which is.....

"I give up!"

"9...." Max upon hearing what she said paused and smiled. His smile was charming yet it didn't charm the girl. "What did you say?" He asked just to be sure he heard it right.

"I said I give up!" The girl said while clenching her fist.

"Heh! Then let's start the process!"
