Chapter 54: Epilogue: My Reincarnation Is As Abnormal As I Expected

He has black hair that is combed neatly to the side, and it looks glossy due to the hair wax. His eyes contain so much melanin, they look like his hair—black. An angular, manly face with a bright skin tone—with eyes filled with dread he looks at me.

I can see it—I can see it in his eyes. Hikigaya Hachiman, who is currently inhabiting my previous body, is embarrassed.

"Why?!" You might ask, but it is really simple. Remember what he said just a few moments ago? 'Our meeting is just the inception. When you are closing to the conclusion, make a right choice.'

No matter how I look at it, and judging by what is actually happening, our meeting should be concluded after he said that, and I would get up from the "dream." In other words, that word supposed to be his farewell.

Unfortunately for Hachiman, he has failed to act cool; it's been a minute since he said that, but he hasn't disappeared yet, and I am still here. So now, we are looking at each other like two handsome, straight guys that would eventually turn gay in Yaoi Manga.

Of course, none of us are staring heatedly at each other, since that kind of shit will never happen to us.

"Chūni bastard, you can never act cool in front of me." I give Hachiman a smirk that is tainted with a little bit of ridicule.

Hachiman sighs in helplessness. "You are really annoying, aren't you?" He stops staring at me, and returns to his seat. "Anyway, I have explained pretty much everything to you. So, let's chat a little bit."

"Dude, you explained anything but everything. You still keep most of the thing to yourself!" I look at Hachiman weirdly.

Hachiman mildly waved his hand. "As long as you know the reason behind your reincarnation, and what you should do from now on, it's enough to be everything."

"Tsk. Then, I want you to answer some of my questions."

"Shoot me."

"I don't have a gun."

"Should I speak Japanese to you, so you can understand me better?"

"Bitch, I can speak in 14 languages, and my English is better than yours."

Hachiman puts his hands up in a placating gesture, then smiles. "You seem annoyed. I thought that you would be able to control your emotion well."

"I could, but I don't like secrets." I stare at Hachiman seriously, and he merely hums to himself. "Something is going on, and I feel like I'm the only one who is unaware of it."

"Something is indeed going on, Chris, and you will be aware of it when you wake up ... You are just confused."

I sigh in exasperation, and scratch my head. "Ah, fuck it! Just—just answer these questions. Is meeting you the reason why I was summoned here?"

"Yes."

"Is our meeting caused by the meteor that I saw before coming here?"

"Oh, that wasn't a meteor. That was the universe's defense mechanism—yes."

I am glad Hachiman is a sensible person; he immediately got to the point upon noticing my gaze. Don't get me wrong. I am actually interested in what he was talking about, but I don't want to know about it now; I only need to know about the things I ask him.

"Like me, did you also die before living as me?"

"Sharp intuition." Hachiman nods his head. "Yeah, I died due to aneurysm, and woke up as a 13 year old Chris Sasaki."

"Yukinoshita Yukino—does she inhabit Christine's body?"

"Y-Yeah." Hachiman nods his head rigidly. "We are happily married."

At that, I take my butt off chair-chan, and look at him seriously. "I didn't ask that but..." I don't know why, but I just feel the need to congratulate this bastard in front of me. "Bastard, you did it! You fuck your own sister!"

"Calm down, Chris." Hachiman puts his hands up. "Firstly, the Christine I know is originally Yukino. Secondly, we were not genetically related in the first place."

"Well, that doesn't change the fact that she is your sister." I shrug, then sit myself down once again. "So, do you know that Christine is an Agent?"

Hachiman quirks his eyebrow. "Agent? Do you mean Hunter? Yes, I know she is one. I am one too; we are a partner."

"I see..." I am not going to lie, that is enviable—the honesty between the two, that is. "Are you two killing people together for living?"

Instead of immediately answering me, Hachiman stares at me silently. "You... You didn't know what being a Hunter means, do you?"

"How could I know?" I shrug with a smile that I don't know what it conveys.

"So, that's the case..." Judging by his tone, Hachiman seems to have somehow figured out the unresolved feud between me and Christine.

"In your timeline, Christine decided to fight alone, huh?" Hachiman muses to himself as if I am not there. "They really are alike, aren't they?"

"I don't know what you are talking about. Just tell me what is a Hunter."

Hachiman lightly shrugs. "It's just as its name suggests: Hunters are people who hunt a certain individual to earn money. In our case though, we hunted people for our safety. We hunted those powerful people, who were targeting our lives."

Hachiman puts his hand on his chest. "This body is wanted by many individuals—it's our father's masterpiece."

"Are you talking about the genetic modification?"

"Yeah... It doesn't matter anymore though." Hachiman shakes his head. "Being a Hunter wasn't as hard as facing 'them.' Still, you should thank Christine someday. It's not easy living as a Hunter."

"Yeah, I can see it. She lost her mind because of it."

Hachiman doesn't say anything anymore, and I am still occupied with my own thought. No matter how many times I see it, I still feel there is something that I should know of but I am not told about.

It's funny hearing it coming from myself, but I feel like the world is purposely hiding something from me—something that everyone knows of.

"Chris, you are overthinking."

"I avoided death 6 times because of my intuition; I am not overthinking."

"Just the fact that you counted it is already awesome. Anyway, just what kind of life you were living? Weren't you not a Hunter?"

"None of your business," I answer curtly.

Hachiman sighs, then drags his chair closer to me. "Listen, being not in the know, in your case, doesn't make you ignorant. You are bound to find about it right after you wake up."

"I am not thinking about what is about to happen from now on, Hachiman." By the time I realized it, I am already speaking coldly to Hachiman. "I am thinking about the thing you hide from me—what follows after the event."

Contrary to my expectation however, Hachiman immediately answers me. "Many things will follow, but to simply answer it, you will have a peaceful time ... Of course, what matters is the process. As long as you manage to pass it, you will get what you want."

"Is this some kind of Holy Grail shit?"

"No, it's not fantasy..." Upon realizing what he said, Hachiman clears his throat. "Kuhum! That didn't feel right. Anyway, like I said, you will find about everything along the way, so you don't have to be afraid of being 'left alone'—you won't."

"That's not my concern though..." To not be able to properly control the course of my life due to the things I am not aware of, is what I am concerned about. "Now that I think about it, what did that meteor do to me other than summoning me here?"

"Oh, that? It didn't do much to you, really. Just enjoy the surprise when you wake up." I am about to protest, but Hachiman quickly adds with a wink, "A surprise won't be a surprise if you already know it, right?"

I lightly snort at it, and lean on chair-chan. I can see that Hachiman will always dodge my question, and that means I don't have anything to say anymore.

Hachiman also seems to be the same, and we keep silently staring at each other for a couple of minutes, until he opens his mouth.

"There isn't actually a good choice, because if it does, you won't have to make a choice in the very first place ... What matters in making a choice is to choose the one that is better for you; there is no choice that is better than the other choice."

"What are you on about?"

Hachiman laughs emptily. "Well, I'm just talking about my experience." Smiling at me faintly, he stares at me right in my eyes. "Therefore, when you want to make a choice, don't feel, but think what is better for you."

"I know that; I don't feel much anyway." I shrug.

"Well, that's good to hear." Hachiman stretches his hands, and stands up. "Very well then, Chris. Keep being yourself, and make the right choice." He smiles at me.

He said the same cliché shit again, and I am ready to ridicule him, but his body starts fading and the surrounding also starts melting in the next moment. Only then did I realize my body is being pulled upwards.

Unlike the process of coming here, it happens so fast, by the time I know it, I am already sitting on the couch near the window of our bedroom, and staring at my phone on the ground. In short, I am already awaken from the dream.

"Okay... If not for the fact that I know I am not schizophrenic, I would've thought that didn't happen." I sigh, and massage my forehead lightly.

"Damn it! What have I gotten myself into?" Of course, I have made sure to curse lowly to not bother the peacefully sleeping Shizuka.

"Papa, are you alright?"

"Yeah, I am just tired."

"Do you want some milk?"

"No, I am fine."

"What about a massage?"

"No, thanks. I am really fine..."

It is only at this moment that I realized something is not quite right. 'Have I accidentally impregnated Shizuka, and now we have a daughter?' So many things have happened in the span of an hour, I don't even question the absurdity of the situation.

As I look up from the ground to the owner of the childishly cute voice, I feel like slapping the shit out of anyone who acts as the god of this world.

There is a little girl with a long, light brown hair, whose entire existence screams, 'I am cute,' standing in front of me. What attracts my attention though, is not the fact that she is just a little girl or that she is fully naked.

She has two cat ears on her head, and a cute little tail behind her!

"Raphtalia, go back to being cat!"

I expected to see something weird upon waking up, but never did I anticipate to receive this as a surprise.

Countless of thoughts immediately run in my head, as I try to think of a way to explain Raphtalia's existence to Shizuka. 'Fuck! My reincarnation is as abnormal as I expected!'

End of Volume 2!

Yahoo, Minna! It's been two weeks. I was so caught up in my study, I didn't have the time to write a single chapter ... Well, I honestly did, but I had always been already spent by that time.

It's slightly unfortunate to tell you this, but this unclear update schedule will continue until my new novel reaches chapter 50—I've also been ignoring it lately—so you have to have a great patience.
