Chapter 15: Flawless Strategy

The next morning arrived as warm rays of sunlight trickled through the curtains, beading down on his face as his eyelids slowly parted.

Just as his eyes opened, the system greeted him with a prompt that made him jump out as he sent the bedsheets flying off of his body.

"What–?!"

BA-DUMP. BA-DUMP. BA-DUMP.

Though it was an outcome he theorized, seeing it bloom into reality was something else entirely; even at that, any expectations he had were completely subverted:

[Level Up!]

[Level 20!] [150/800]

[ATK: 25 | DEF: 25 | MAG: 35]

[New Skill(s) Acquired: Quick Summon | Temporary Summon – Time Extended | Void Inventory]

[New Summon Banner(s) Available! | Standard Weapon Summon | Standard Familiar Summon | Standard Ability Summon: Magic | Standard Ability Summon: Skills | Standard Item Summon]

[New Item Obtained !!! | x1 [SR] Select!]

It was a flood of information from his system that surpassed any splendid joy of a Christmas morning.

'Finally, new banners to summon on…! These new skills, too! What's that? A select ticket?! SR?!' He thought, overwhelmed.

While Edsith went down to the lobby of the inn to retrieve breakfast, he went through everything he had earned throughout the night, thanks to the diligent work of his familiars, one-by-one.

"Rookie Familiar Summon, one," he casually ordered.

The skill, [Quick Summon], seemed incredibly handy; without needing to hold the coins in his hand, it automatically used the copper that was kept close to him in order to manifest the desired summon.

In front of him, a voluptuous woman with silken, blonde hair was summoned, wearing a maid uniform and a gentle smile.

[New Familiar Obtained! | (N) Dutiful Maid Laura | Special Traits: Boing!]

"…Oh," he reacted in surprise at the sight of the curvy woman.

The maid bowed, "Good to meet you, Master. I am at your service."

"Yeah, nice to meet you…" He averted his gaze, finding his eyes wandering to her chest too often.

It became clear to him now that some familiars weren't designated for battle, leaving him with two separate categories to keep in mind: fighters and servants.

'Laura won't do me any good in a fight. I'll have to avoid summoning her in combat,' he thought.

Continuing to explore his new skills, he checked them while the maid picked up the scattered clothes and weapons left in the room.

[Temporary Summon - Time Extended] was self-explanatory to him; it would allow temporary results to last longer.

What was truly useful to him was [Void Inventory], testing it with the dull sword he had just summoned as he held it in his hand:

"Void Inventory, deposit," he commanded.

A small pocket of darkness opened around his hand, swallowing the sword and storing it in a personal pocket dimension that acted as his own storage space.

'This changes everything. I think it works with familiars too–though it seems kind of cruel to keep them stored away,' he thought.

Next, he was curious what the rates were on the new banners, which were unmistakably a step-up from the rookie summons.

"System, give me the deets' on the standard banners," he requested.

[Information: "N" (Normal) rarity = 60% | "R" (Rare) rarity = 30% | "SR" (Super Rare) rarity = 10%] [Each summon will cost [10] copper.]

It was a fair upgrade, he knew that with his vast experience with gacha games, especially with how it would prove to streamline his summoning process entirely.

Though the mention of [Super Rare] class summons brought his attention to the item he was gifted for reaching [Level 20]: the illustrious [SR Select Ticket]

It was a concept he was more than familiar with in the realm of mobile gachas; an item that stood as the holy grail of items to be obtained, usually gifted by developers during major celebrations, most of the time only once per year.

'This select ticket…It'll allow me to choose any Super Rare. Luck doesn't play a single damn part in it–this is too precious to use mindlessly. I'll hold onto it,' he decided.

All-in-all, Jett Levine started that day as a new person; it was decided then and there in his mind as he put his gear on:

'This Gacha System is without a doubt, a cheat system!' He decided, 'And I plan on exploiting it to the max!'

Before meeting with his other two familiars, he looked over at Laura, "Is it fine with you if you stay hidden for now? Sorry, but stuff can get pretty dangerous. I'll summon you when I need you."

"Of course," Laura bowed her head.

With that, he took his leave from the room. He met Gunter and Edith down at the Merdlum Inn lobby, sitting at a table while the two had already begun eating without him.

"Apologies, Master…I was going to wait for you, but Gunter, well…" Edith furrowed her eyebrows towards the mannerless warrior.

Gunter looked up with his cheeks full of food, "--Hrm?"

"It's alright," he laughed.

For a moment, Edith looked at him before smiling, "It seems it was a success. I can tell just by looking at you; you've grown into an entirely new class of  adventurer, Master."

"You think so? Well, I can't deny that," he bashfully rubbed his own head.

It was after a hearty breakfast that he went out into town, going to the outskirts of Merdlum where he had informed his familiars to meet up with him at that time. Still, what he found was unexpected, yet unsurprising once he considered what it was that he asked.

There were some that did not make it back from their designated quests, in total those that returned were: Jiao (SR), Juru (R), Alex (R), Khan (R), and the singular slime (B).

"What happened?" He asked.

While the success rate of the goblins was certainly questionable, he found himself shocked that an adamant warrior like the lizard man failed to return.

The fiery-haired warrior, Jiao, handed him the four completed quest documents, "Sorry, Boss, but I couldn't help them in time. By the time I got around to it, they were already wiped out."

"...It's fine. This is my fault. I didn't put much consideration into what you all could handle–I stretched the group out too thin," he said.

The stealthily-dressed figure, Khan, stepped forward, "Eh, don't worry about that. If they couldn't handle a simple task, they were weak. The weak get culled; that's the natural way of this world."

"That's way too cold-hearted!" The demonkin boy retorted.

"Maybe, but that's reality for ya, kiddo," Khan said.

Things were certainly not without tension, though it wasn't surprising considering the colorful figures he had summoned.

After receiving the quests, he opted to test out the new ability he had gained, seeing it as necessary with how rowdy the bunch were:

"Thanks, that's all I need for now," he showed his gratitude before raising a single hand, "Void Inventory: Store."

A nebulous aura of violet energy manifested around his hand before suddenly engulfing each of the familiars he had previously sent out to complete quests, bringing them into the [Void Inventory] without a hitch.

It only took a second before they all vanished, properly placed into the sub-space realm as he looked at his hand.

"Convenient," he muttered.

There were certain reservations he had with simply flinging his familiars into the void, though it worked a bit different than he had feared: [Void Inventory] simply sent the familiars into a sort of "stasis" or deep slumber whilst they were kept in it.

'That settles that. I'll go turn in these quests now,' he thought.
