Chapter 2: Home (not)sweet home

As the car moved, she talked to Mr. Zen to avoid the sadness which may overwhelm her.

"Uncle Zen, it's been a long time. How are you?"

"Miss Williams, I've been well. Thank you for your concern." He replied politely.

"Uncle Zen, how many times have I told you to call me Shanell?"

"I will keep that in my mind Miss Williams." He replied to her like every time.

She rolled her eyes and looked back to her school and the place where the dorm is, which brought moist in her eyes. She turned towards the front and closed her eyes and began to think about her past few years in the school. The days she spent with her friends with no worries about family business and the studies, the time Shanell and her friends prank their classmates etc. came to her mind. She tried hard to not cry.

When she opened her eyes she saw a big mansion, there were not many people around because it was 11 pm. Bright lights from the building made it look like a real palace. Yes it is her home before she could regain the thought about 'home'; she was already in front of her home.

Car stopped moving, she opened the door and got down from it then went to see her parents to let them know that she is back home. She waited at the door to her parents' room and let out a sigh. Then she knocked on the door and asked.

"Dad, may I come in."

Instead of her dad, her mom replied. And she walked into her parent's room.

It was a big room with an open balcony, the room was big but there were only some accessories in it. There was a wardrobe with a walk in closet, a couch at one corner, some expensive paintings on the wall, a king-size bed with feather mattress and a big family portrait of them on the wall beside the bed.

Her dad was sitting on the bed and her mom was standing near wardrobe. From the look itself she understood that her mom just had a shower, and she's going to change. So she decided to go to her dad's side. She stood in front of her dad and greeted him.

"Dad, can I know, why you wanted me to come home today itself? I could have spent one more night there and come home tomorrow." I asked him.

Her dad looked very serious; her mom's expression is also similar. So a cold shiver went through her spine. She tried to think hard that if she has done something which she was not supposed to do. Then her mom spoke.

"What's with the tone, Shan? Are you trying to question your parents?"

"No mom, I am so sorry." I said and thought about the only reason for them to not let me stay for one more night.

"I know why I had to come today itself. I am tired, so I am going to rest." She said then left the room.

When she reached the living room, she saw the wall with the portraits of their family from her childhood to teenage.

She went to her brother's room to check on him. She saw it was locked from inside, so she thought to herself that he is asleep. It was late; she didn't want to disturb her brother, so she went to her room.

Her room was not like a girly room. It was not in pink color. It does not have any Barbie dolls or any 'princessy' items.

She was like a princess but more like an actual princess. Her childhood was filled with duties she had to finish, responsibilities she had to fulfill, until her brother was born.

Before her brother's birth she was treated like the heiress of the business world that her father owned but after her brother's birth things started to change slightly.

She became more like "something" which can collaborate with another strong business world. She was trained hard to become a wife of some random rich guy. She knew the fact that she didn't like this idea. But she had no choice at all.

When her parents treated her like a possession which can bring them a good fortune, her brother treated her like a person who should be loved and taken care of.

On her every birthday her parents throw a party to be in touch with every business tycoons and powerful officials which she hated, her brother always tried to surprise her by taking care of her tender feelings. He always brought a gift, not the expensive ones, and make birthday cake by himself just to make her happy.

Actually she was the one started these surprising celebrations for him so that he will never have to feel what she felt. Then he started to follow the same for her. Both of them continued this for years and it has become an obvious thing on their birthdays. They waited for their birthdays just to have the small gifts they get for each other and the cakes they made which are filled with love they have for each other in the past 13 years. It made them happy and now she will be turning 18 in a few months, and she had a gut feeling that what she scared is going to happen.

By princessy I meant a girl who is waiting for a prince charming and a happily ever after. No offences please..
