Chapter 4: contract with the goddess
As the Goddess began to recount the tale of a tragic love between a god and a mortal, the man listened with rapt attention, absorbing every word with a solemn reverence. As the tale reached its conclusion, a heavy silence settled between them, the weight of the narrative hanging in the air. Yet, despite the somber tone, a glimmer of understanding dawned in the man's eyes, his mood lifting as the reason behind the rule became clear.
With newfound clarity, he broke the silence with a hopeful inquiry, his gaze fixed earnestly upon the Goddess. "If I were to become immortal, would you then consider marrying me? And regarding your statement about lacking qualities to make you like me, tell me what traits you desire in a partner, and I will strive to fulfill them."
At his bold proposal, the Goddess's laughter rang out, her amusement evident as she regarded him with a soft smile. "You believe you can become immortal and win my affections? I admire your determination," she remarked, her tone laced with gentle teasing.
Her amusement quickly gave way to a proposition, her expression turning serious as she laid out her condition. "However, should you wish to proceed, you must agree to sign a soul contract with me. This contract will outline the terms I require in a partner, and you must fulfill them within the time frame specified. Failure to do so will result in you becoming my slave. Are you prepared to accept these terms?"
Without hesitation, he affirmed his acceptance of the contract, his resolve unwavering as he spoke the words aloud. As if in response, the soul contract materialized before them, two collars emerging to encircle their necks.
