Chapter 3: Chapter 3: Red Awakening

After their meeting was done, Prue met Brian outside the field. The field was full of many boys. To be honest, there wasn't one guy in the whole school who liked Brian. Sure, they wanted to be his friend, but only for his status and popularity. Prue was the same. When they were in elementary school, which was also at the academy, they had many friends. Prue had three friends, who are still at the academy today. Their names are Rebecka, Brittany, and Natalie. Prue would invite them over to her house all the time, for two reasons. One because she liked them and two because if they were there, her father couldn't hurt her or Brian. Those days were the best, being as free as they were wasn't common. Brian brought over his best friend Kyle. Kyle would go over to Brian's house and play basketball or football in the backyard. Prue would stay inside the house playing with dolls or house with her friends. Sadly, their friendship didn't last long. Prue's three friends began to use her for her money not long after meeting. At the time, their mother was alive so the mother would tell Prue to be careful. Prue loved her other and took her words to heart. Their mother meant so much to Prue and Brian. Before her death, Mother told Brian to take care of Prue. Prue has been inseparable since they are stuck like glue. They have never disagreed on anything and would have each other's back no matter what. Prue soon dumped her friends after her mother's death. Her friends didn't care, to them, Prue was just a pawn in their small scheme to use her money. Brian knew about her friends but never said anything. He loves Prue and wants her to get through certain situations on her own. He thought it would be best to let her settle it herself. Prue hasn't talked to them since.

Today, they are the three bullies of the school. Brian's friend, Kyle, is still his friend. Kyle knows about his father and feels bad, that's why he doesn't get too close. They will say hi in the halls, but that's about it. Brian and Prue stopped making contact with anyone once they got into middle school. Their father was an alcoholic for a while, then he stopped. He no longer drinks, but he still beats them recklessly.

It is June third and another normal day for Prue. She woke up to her alarm. It made a buzzing sound which annoyed her to the point where she would throw it. Her room was decorated modern like. Their father likes things to be perfect so every room in the house looks the same. The chairs, tables, and walls were lined with metal and looked very modern. Most mornings their driver takes them to school, others their father. She slipped out of bed to the annoying buzz of her alarm. As she got dressed, she could hear Brian leave his room. Sighing, he applies her makeup over her bruises. She only put on foundation and lip gloss, it was all she needed to cover bruises. When putting on her uniform, she looked into the mirror. What was wrong with her?! She is doing this on a daily basis! Why isn't she confronting the police or anyone else?! Is she really ok or is she in her own prison? These thoughts ran through her head wanting to escape as she stared at her reflection. Invisible tears ran down her cheeks, she wished she could cry, but it's too late for that now.

She snapped out of her thoughts as Brian knocked on her door. Walking to the door, she felt slightly safe. Brian was the only person in the whole world who would ever understand, her best friend. She wanted to, but couldn't smile as she opened the door. Her heart dropped as Brian leaned against the door with blood streaming down his face. Blood stained his uniform and his head was covered in the dark red substance. He was breathing heavily as the blood covered the floor he was standing over. She quickly grabbed him and pulled him into the room before he dropped to the floor.
