Chapter 39: Planning
Honoka's face showed a goofy grin of happiness, causing her friends to notice that, and Umi was the first to question that. Since it looks weird for the dark blue-haired girl seeing her childhood friend making a face like that. Not weird in a good way, but the opposite, since Umi thought it was irritating to see.
"Honoka? What's wrong with you? Suddenly making a weird and dumb face like that."
This caused Honoka to scream in surprise and snap. She looks at Umi with her still goofy grin and scratches her cheeks, unsure what answer the orange-haired second-year girl would give to her best friend. She could find the right words to put in, which made Umi squint her eyes in suspicion and ask further before Honoka could answer it.
"Wait. Don't tell me…."
She left the sentence hanging like that while looking at Honoka, who was already in a panic and her cheeks beet red since her dark blue-haired friend figured it out quickly and wanted to stop her from revealing it. With her quick and flexible feet, Honoka shut Umi's mouth with her hands, preventing the girl from finishing what she said.
Seeing her childhood friends fooling around, Kotori then giggled and turned to the rest of the girls with a sweet and kind smile adorning her beautiful and cute face. Other than those three, the girls only see them with sweatdrops and awkwardness. Because it's something weird to see. Then, the costume-loving girl, Minami Kotori, spoke to everyone except Umi and Honoka.
"Alright, everyone. How about we talk about something else? After all, Honoka-chan asks Ayaka-chan and Hanayo-chan something private for them. As her childhood friends, Umi and I were sorry for it, Ayaka-chan, Hanayo-chan."
"It's okay, Kotori-senpai. Like what I told Umi-senpai, you have nothing to be sorry about. Right, Hana?"
Hanayo nodded and agreed with Ayaka's words as she spoke and replied to Kotori too.
"Y-Yes. It's nothing, Kotori-chan, but… I hope something like that won't happen again. I mean, it's Aya-chan and my business…."
"I understand that, Hanayo-chan! Umi-chan and I would make sure to tell Honoka-chan thoroughly about it! We will strictly teach her to not do something insensitive and be dense about her surrounding like that."
"… Isn't that too much?"
Maki asked with a sweatdrop seeing how Kotori was burning with passion, and there was fire lifted up within her eyes when she said it. Eli and Nico could only shake their head and let out a heavy, tired sigh seeing the passionate girl. Nozomi, Rin, and Ayaka only chuckle as they see it as amusing, while Hanayo panics and is concerned for Kotori, thinking that the greyish-brown-haired girl might overdo it.
"I think it does, but it doesn't look like Kotori could hear what you've said."
Eli replied while exhaling a heavy sigh as she gave the obvious answer to Maki. This something which always happens in μ's, and became a common occurrence that they would be roped in some troublesome matters, resulting in them being exhausted, both mentally and physically. While it was nice, the exhausting part was still within them.
Seeing Kotori going into her own delusion, Umi and Honoka still arguing with each other, Nozomi took the initiative to change it by speaking something to everyone. A smile that she usually wears casually appears on her face.
"Everyone, summer vacation is almost there; what do you think we should do? Should we go to the beach?"
Being struck by that question caused everyone, even Kotori, Umi, and Honoka, to ponder it. They gave some time to think, but then Rin casually answered it immediately with her cat expression shown on her face.
"Yes, yes! I want to go to the beach! It's summer, and the weather would get too hot, giving us a good thing when we're in there. How's that?"
"A beach, huh. That is a good choice. Does anyone have a different opinion?"
"Um… I think it shouldn't be limited to the beach. Since it's summer, we would have some festival, and we could go together there."
"That's great thinking, Hanayo-chan. We can go to festivals at night in a shrine and the like while wearing our yukatas. We also could enjoy the games offered by many stalls. But should we go to the public beach? Or…?"
Nozomi said that while her eyes looked at Maki, who groaned and was annoyed as she knew what the pigtail-haired girl meant by that look and words. She has no choice but to lend her family a private beach house again like before.
"…Alright, we will use my family beach house, again. Happy with it?"
"Fufufu, sorry for that, Maki-chan. After all, this is probably Ayachin's first time visiting your family's private beach house, isn't it?"
"It is! And thank you for that, Nishikino-san! I'll be sure to repay you with something!"
Ayaka says it with enthusiasm and a beaming smile on her face. The smile is beautiful and causes the girls, especially with Maki, who have been thanked and mentioned by Ayaka, to have a storm blush on her cheeks due to the excitement she feels and how happy she hears it.
She quickly looked away and tried to hide her blush with the usual reply she always used to her friends now to Ayaka.
"W-Whatever…! I don't have… any choice anyway… or they would be stubborn to force me."
"But I am still thankful that you would allows me to go to your family's private beach house, Nishikino-san. After all, this is my first time! Moreover, I will go with all of you; this is really a good thing and a wonderful moment for me."
"Then, we have to make sure Ayachin enjoys it thoroughly so she won't be disappointed during the summer vacation we would spend."
"Nozomi's right. This is important for your first time going together with us, and we will continuously have fun during this summer vacation. So, be prepared to be excited and don't worry about anything, Ayaka-san."
