Chapter 32: Catastrophe: Fall into Darkness Part 2

"Come on! Don't be shy, let it go!" Marissa shouts. I looked around me and tried my best to avoid them. I just feel so unconscious with these people around me.

"I think…" I pull my violin and hugged it before it could fall down the floor. "I am better on staying on the side." I nod at her. She stopped dancing and tilt her head. I just walk off from the dance floor straight back to the table and took back my drink. Someone offered to refill it. "Thanks." I look up at him and see Patrick who had already refill my glass. He tight a smile and gave it to me.

"Seems you are not a party girl, like my girl there." He noted.

"I am not a loud person, and a party girl as you say." I murmur and sipped on my drink.

"Isn't it too boring if you just stay on the corner while others are dancing for their lives? Look around you, they are enjoying the music." I did look around me. Yes, most of them are enjoying the night like it was their last day in the world. But as I can see at those people who are on the side, they just seemed lonely. Some of them are lonely, sad, terrified, overwhelmed, conscious, over-thinking, waiting…there are lots of people who don't care about danceable music.

"Not all of them are enjoying." I looked at the Head Mistress who enters the room. She was smiling from ear to ear, looking so beautifully demure on her white glimmering gown. But as I looked and dig into her eyes, she wasn't that happy about the biggest important event of the school. She was anxious and worried about something. Now I wonder what's her fear might be.

The music stops and the Head Mistress went on the stage and everyone pay their attention to the Head Mistress. I twist my body a little to face the stage and gently sipped on my punch.

"Good evening, students. Tonight, we are celebrating the 145th Foundation week of Mystical Academy. Tonight was the most awaited night for the opening of our event. Over the years, our ancestors built this castle for people like us. We are no compare to cruel humans. Some used us as their weapon for their own sake. But we, peculiars are no weapon. We are weapons on our own. We won't let anyone fall us into pieces."

Her words make everyone applause and cheers. That's a big credit for the students. I didn't bother clapping my hands because I was too handed, besides, I don't clap my hand to anyone.

"Years passed, these rogues tried to enter our castle, to kill us and make us slaves for the thought that they knew our weakness. They thought that we are evils, demons, and daughters and sons of Satan. But we are no evil. We are made to protect nature and innocent lives. Tonight, let's raise our glasses and cheer for the growing success of our school." There is another applause and they all took their glasses, looking like blood. One of the students gave me one, so I have to put my other glass to the table. "Everyone, let's pledge our loyalty in our society." Leona started. They raise their glasses and I followed them. They started the pledge with me and their names. "…pledge my soul, my heart, my blood as a gifted powerful demi-God that is made by our creator. I will never betray our ancestors for an exchange of evil…"

I didn't pledge along with them. It was just so ironic. I wanted to laugh out loud. Demi-Gods? We aren't Gods. We are just some weird people who can do supernatural things. We aren't even immortals. We are just humans who were born with extraordinary gifts. Science might explain it. But I doubt that we are half-gods.

After the pledge, they drank into the glass. But before I even touched my lips on the goblet, I heard a voice warning on my ear. It's like talking into my ear. Don't drink! Don't drink! It said all over again. I just stealthily acted on drinking it. It seemed that Patrick noticed what I did. He nods at me like he's on my side.

The loud music started again and they get crazy. I got startled when someone snatched my goblet. It was Nicholas and he put it on the table. The disco stopped again and Mrs. Patterson owned the stage and present few performances. Everybody loves the rock band, and the hip-hop dancing and so on. Then, it is my turn to tell my story again.

I walk straight towards the stage. I stood in front of them with a spotlight in front of me almost blinded me to see everyone. I positioned my violin on my shoulder and my bow. I looked at everyone with fierce. I closed my eyes and gently rubbed the bowstrings to the strings of my violin. This is part two of the truth.

How Adhiti found out things that she shouldn't know. A secret that only those people who are evil know. I don't know the person behind but I know a few who took my almost perfect life. Adhiti's almost perfect life. She was lying on the cold ground on her blood. Her blood was draining… She thought that she saw the light. The light that will lead her to the world that has no envy, insecurity, anger, hatred, pain, anxiety, fear… it was all happiness. But it turned out to be catastrophic. She has to destroy half of herself for survival.

When I open my eyes, the first person I had to meet my eyes with is Patrick. Now, I just realized that he's been reading me. He's been reading and listening to my story at that moment. Know, he knew the secret that Catastrophe is hiding. The loud applause was all I hear. I exited the stage and went to Patrick whose eyes are on mine. He wanted to move towards me but something is stopping him.

"Hey, that was awesome!" Eliza said with a wide grin and hugged me. I looked at Patrick who is still staring at me. Eliza pushed me a little and looked at me. I smile a little but wasn't genuine.

"Thanks." That's all I said. She went back to her friends and dance with them. I didn't expect that she would make out with some guys. Or should I say, to Flame? I decided to go out of the hall to relax my mind from the wild, energetic music. I suddenly feel relieved that it has been seconds that I am holding my breath. My heart started palpitating. Is it a panic attack or anxiousness?

I lean my hand on the wall and I decided to lean my back against it. I close my eyes and when I open it, I feel like it was dilated. But all I saw is darkness… Darkness… Please, not darkness. Light, please, light. I had seen a light through my peripheral vision. Am I dreaming? I hold on the wall as my nails scratch it. There's a pair of red eyes… I gasped when it attacks me.

But I wake up finding myself falling my buttocks on the cold floor. I hold my chest and catch my breathing. My heart is so fast like I had run in a kilometer. I found myself standing up, and running out the hall. I don't know where my feet are taking me. But something is pulling me towards the dark forest near the oak tree.

"No." I murmur when I saw a pure white wolf lying on the ground. The brightness of her fur has blood. It got a big bite on the neck and it is barely breathing. I run to it and hold her and tried to heal her. "Don't die, don't die…" I keep on murmuring. I close my eyes and concentrate. I feel a warm-cold sensation running into my veins towards the tips of my hand. I tried to bring it back, but I was too weak to heal her.

"Stop it!" I didn't listen to the voice. I felt his arm pulled me away from the dead wolf. I just realized that my whole body is shaking. I got bruises on my arms. "She's dead." He told me. He told it to me all over again. I was just too, emotionless, but tears are falling from my eyes without permission.

Both of us stopped when we heard a low growl.
