Chapter 8: B-Rank Mission
*Thud* *Thud*
"Another one…" I murmur seeing all the kunai hit the target. It's been a few more months since Asuma left and I've been making the most progress I've ever had.
Who knew having a teacher to tell you the basics, and for you to constantly work on it helps? Kids my age probably don't have the coordination to do what I'm doing.
My skill with throwing both projectiles has grown. I'm able to hit the target without fail from the most common ranges.
The max range I could do is around 15m.
"Let's see if they've finished," I say with a glint in my eyes. After raking in some money I had to refurbish my restaurant.
It took around 750,000 Ryo (~$20,000 USD) but in the end will be worth the money. It makes my place more pleasing to the eye and more comfortable chairs damnit.
I sit on those things as well…
'Won't Pain blast all of this stuff to dust anyways?' I thought a bit alarmed. I'm sure future me can handle that headache later on.
Can we quote the "headache" and how it doesn't say "fight".
My limitless stamina growth has been slowing down, unfortunately. With my body only able to handle two hours and a half of constant jogging/running.
All things considered, I'm quite satisfied with these arrangements.
After packing up my stuff I grabbed them and readied to head out. Before I could go a sudden noise hits my ear.
*Rustle*
"What's that?"
Turning around after hearing that noise, I spot an elder man with a brown cloak and grey scarf. He seemed to be heading this way.
Looking at the guy he had some sort of triangular goatee and a particular grey v-shaped hair.
'That's Hiruzen isn't it.' I thought to myself without much of a reaction. Yeah, he's the Hokage and stuff but there's nothing to worry about or gain right now.
Itachi will probably take up most of his attention with the addition of the village being practically fumbled up by the Kyubi attack
'But I could get in his good graces.'
With this factor in my mind, I walked over to the guy. With my spear in my right hand and a box to my left, I confidently stood in front of him.
He had this warm aura about him which was weird. Some sort of calming effect I suppose.
"Hello, old man! What are you doing around these parts!" I shout with a sort of bratty voice. Talking like this will mask my more mature side and show "my" childish attitude. It's not like I'm trying to hide anything so why act suspicious?
Hiruzen hearing my shout looked at me with a curious look.
"Hello there young one, I should be asking you the same thing. I've never seen a civilian as young as you train here." He responds with a chuckle. Getting a grumpy face I point towards my box.
"I need to train to defeat any future threats to Konoha. So of course I'm training!"
Hiruzen hearing this just raised his eyebrows at my words. It seems like my words got his attention alright, it's just a matter of saying some more words and doing well in the academy.
The "threats to Konoha" part will score me points with Hiruzen as well.
"How would you achieve something like that?" He questions with a glint in his eyes to which I smiled.
"Well, I'll become a personal guard of the Hokage of course! A friend of mine said being in a higher rank means better resources." I say. "Say old man if you're here then you must be or used to be a shinobi right? Show me a ninjutsu please!"
Seeing my plead with teary eyes, the elder man chuckled before pointing at my box.
"Give me one of your shurikens, I'll show you a technique I've perfected." He says amused at my actions. Quickly opening the box and handing him a shuriken, he gently grabs it and adjusts his cloak. Without me noticing the shuriken was already in the air flying.
I didn't even get to see any movements in his hands.
*Swish*
While the shuriken was in mid-air Hiruzen did some hand signs. Unlike in the anime, the Shinobi here don't shout their attacks from what I've seen from Asuma and now Hiruzen.
*Poof* *Poof*
A load of pops could be heard as one by one hundreds of shuriken appeared. Looking on in amazement the hundreds of shuriken bombarded the poor stumps with every inch being hit.
*Thud*
After a few seconds Hiruzen did some kind of half-seal and the shurikens started to poof away. Leaving one single one left in the smack middle of the target.
But this didn't last long as it suddenly disappeared.
"Over here young man, what's your name?" Hiruzen says while fiddling with the disappearing shuriken. Taking the metal object and storing it in my box, I introduce myself.
"My name is Shin Tokura! Thanks for the show old man but I better get going. My chakra exercises are important."
Saying this I made my way home as the Hokage stared at my back. Who knew what ideas the man had but the gears in his brain were definitely turning.

"Damn that looks slick," I say with a shine in my eyes. Looking at the restaurant's front there were three glass windows which were connected to each other. A couple of inches to the right of it was a wooden door with pull door handles with the top of it having a small window as well.

The people who made the place designed it according to my drawings which helped with the making of this place.
In front of the place was a guy who I remember to be in charge of the renovations. Making my way to him the giddy feeling couldn't leave my body.
"Hello, sir! Is everything finished?"
"Yes, everything is finished. If you need anything else then contact my team, goodbye." He responds giving me the keys before heading off. Raising my eyebrows at the quick send off I don't question it and head inside.
…
"Alright, that's my chakra exercise for today," I murmur with my eyesight getting blurry. Rubbing my eyes I hopped off my bed.
*Creak*
My time increased to 45 seconds so my chakra concentration has been improving. Sadly I haven't tried using a leaf yet as I thought it would disturb my thinking.
When I first tried the exercise, my brain would keep on getting distracted and can't focus on the lead. But even when I empty my mind because the lead is touching me I get sidetracked.
So just doing normal chakra moving for a few more weeks till I reach a minute will be my goal.
'I should see if I'm able to do it.' I thought to myself looking at my desk. On it was a bank statement for 200,000 Ryo.
After my recent thoughts on loyalty back when Asuma left I wondered.
Would I need someone I know who will oblige to my every word?
The short is answer, yes/maybe.
To get far in a world like this you either need family or power, it's just that some people have both. So I thought that maybe I could find someone to live with me.
Of course, I'm earning enough to support two people easily seeing my bank account. So it wouldn't be much of a problem.
The problem I am facing though is who would be fit for this.
Taking the piece of paper I head outside in search of a particular building. It didn't take too long before I spotted my final destination.
A red mansion with three different parts. Each part had a circular design while the middle of the three was larger than the others.
This place was known as the Hokage's Mansion…
"Now that's impressive," I mumble out taking in the scene of the place. It was close to the academy and stuck out like a sore thumb so I couldn't miss it even if I wanted to.
Watching the citizens enter and leave the mansion, I went into the left building to register a mission. Following someone from behind, I just use them as an example to enter the building to not get lost.
After a while, I made it to the front desk which took me about 10 minutes to get to. The line was pretty trafficked which makes sense.
"Hello there sir I was wondering how much a mission like mine would cost. I'll need to explain what it is though." I say to the person at the front. The man with grey bags under his eyes just nods at my words.
"Alright kid, tell me."
"There's a girl I want to be brought to this village from some town."
The man hearing me started to rub his chin in thought. It's not every day you get a request from a child to retrieve another one I bet.
"Well that would depend on the information you have, this could be a simple mission with a quick goal. But if you make us search then we'll need more manpower." He explains taking my request seriously. Nodding at his words I tell him all the information I had on this girl.
"She has black hair, similar age to me-"
After telling them all I could like which town she was from. The guy eventually brought a pen and started to write some notes.
"So the mission will be estimated C to B-Rank. It's a basic retrieval mission with a set location. But the destination is too far for a C-Rank…" The guy murmurs as he wrote stuff down.
Listening to the guy it seems like he was noting everything down and making an estimate to what's needed. I guess people in his place who gave and took missions were incompetent, but he seems to know what he's doing.
"Alright take this. The mission is classified as a B-Rank with all the requirements said."
Seeing the notes being handed to me, I grab them and start to read the contents.

•Keep the girl knocked out the whole time.
•Is in a town in the land of water.
•Big chance for the mission to get to an A-rank because of the conflict in Kiri.
•Shouldn't take longer than a week and a half to complete.

"Alright, that's fine," I respond taking out my bank statement, in the end, I had to re-enter a number as the mission cost was lower due to my needing to make a deposit first.
So I pay one-half of the money and later on, when the mission is done, I pay the rest. The final cost was 100,00 Ryo (~$2,600 USD) which was cheaper than I thought.
My deposit would be 50,000 Ryo as I wasn't for her arrival.
"This mission would take a few days to be taken up plus the following week and a half to complete, is that fine?" He asks writing up the mission.
"That's alright, thanks for the help," I respond. After this, I left the building and started to head back home.
Hopefully, everything goes well for the person I'm trying to retrieve.
(A/N: Asuma wasn't meant to leave that early in canon. But I guess that's fine as you could consider it as a butterfly effect seeing how much MC has interfered with him.)
