Deep underground where no light could reach was a cramped sealed-off room. In the center lies a small curled-up bundle, lazily sleeping the day away.
"Oi, brat! It's time for your last session. Get up!" A gruff and annoyed voice said calling through the cell bars. Inside the cell, the walls were decorated with a variety of sealing arrays, specifically made to restrain its kind. Five chains jutting out of the walls all aimed at the center, restraining whatever it was attached to.
The bundle shifted around slightly upon hearing the man's voice but didn't appear to make any further attempts to rise.
"Nyaa~? Five more minute, please. Yoru still sleepy." Following a cute if not slightly confused cat-like yawn was a soft and lazy childish voice.
"Tsk!" Annoyed the man wasted no more time and immediately put his hands in the snake seal and pushed a little chakra through them to quickly activate one of the seals lining the glorified cage.
"NYAAAGH!!" Yoru screamed out in pain as the chains tied around her arms, legs, and neck were suddenly flooded with lightning chakra. In reality, she had long gone numb to such pains but it still hurt even if she could tolerate it. The screaming mostly came from being unprepared.
After about a minute of that, the warden finally stopped supplying the seals with chakra. He appeared to be slightly winded but it did nothing to hide the sinister smile on his face. He nearly wasted half of his chakra just now but he thought it was more than worth it to hear the little bi*ch scream.
He hated the jinchuriki with all his being, especially the two tails, ever since the bakeneko killed his brother in cold blood. Now, not only does he have to look after the next little monster but also the previous one's brat! He didn't know if he should be thankful or curse his idol, the Ichi clan head, who gave him this job.
"Yoru no like zap zap…" She pouted while trying to shake off the feeling of being electrocuted that she had grown so used to over the past 3 years.
While the warden was trying to recover some of his recently spent chakra, Yoru slowly rose from the ground, letting her thin blanket fall to the side on the cold ground, exposing her nude body for all to see. [A/N: No FBI pls, this really isn't meant to be lewd, though it is the precursor to one of her habits when she's older]
The man scoffed seeing the three-year-old's form. He was sure that even if he was interested in children, she wouldn't have been able to do it for him. To call her malnourished was the understatement of the year. She was more bone than skin. Her dark skin looked sickly and was littered with scars and dirt. Her formerly pitch-black hair had begun to turn the Ichi clan's signature purple in places from the special poison resistance training they employed.
He knew the only reason she was still alive was due to the tailed beasts' chakra providing as much nourishment as possible, but it seems the clan head miscalculated. Compared to the eight tails they usually did this method with, the girl really was only barely alive. He was no expert but he figured the two tails wasn't enough to completely keep the child functioning as the eight tails could for its host.
Of course, reporting that to the clan head should have been his job, but he figured if the runt killed over no one would be too upset. They still had the other one after all. Plus he was practically doing the brat a favor. He thought it was disgusting and would sooner kill himself than have to rely on that fowl chakra to live. He was sure she agreed with him and would thank him when she finally kicked the bucket.
But the thing that disgusted him the most had to be her eyes. The same slitted gold with that playful twinkle as her bi*ch of a mother. Even if he hated her, one thing he had to respect the brat for was her willpower. Even after everything she'd been through from birth, she never broke. He just chalked it up to another perk of housing a demon. Runt probably stopped being human since the day she was born.
"Hmph, you should hurry up and roll over already. Do the world and more importantly, me, a favor." He scoffed as he did the hand signs necessary to unrestrain her. She wouldn't be coming back to the cell for some time so aside from the collar the rest were unnecessary.
Freed from her chains, Yoru got down on all fours and did a small cat stretch before making her way towards her warden. She moved neither too fast nor too slow, knowing that doing either would just get her another zap zap.
The warden was pleased at what he saw even if disgusted. It was his job to train the beast to be a loyal pet for the village and he had to say he did a pretty good job. It was only this past year that he started getting more physical with her punishments but it seems it paid off rather quickly. Pain tolerance and poison resistance were always the easiest courses to get through but they were also the ones that broke the most brats so he was inwardly pleased she hadn't wasted his time at least.
"Move it. Let's get this over with so I can get reassigned." He kicked her in front of him and had her lead the way. She had already been to the room plenty of times to get there, and if she did so happen to forget how to get there, it was simple enough to activate her collar again as punishment. He was sure she would thank him later for her excellent sense of direction.
Yoru stumbled forward slightly before quickly regaining her balance. One of the perks that came with being the two-tailed jinchuuriki was a near-perfect sense of balance and flexibility. Ignoring the slight pain in her backside she just put on a small smile and made her way towards the purple room.
After a few twists and turns, they made it there with little trouble and no surprise zaps! Yoru was proud of herself and knew they made it because she was a good girl that learned from her mistakes.
The room, much like Yoru's nickname for it, had completely purple walls and was lined with shelf after shelf of different jars and vials. In the center was a pool of liquid, a nauseating purple in color that showed its poisonous nature. Trotting over and jumping up to the cold metal operating table in the center above the pool, Yoru lied down while trying to keep her calm.
In truth, she hated this place very much. She wasn't sure why but she knew she hated poison down to her very soul. She wasn't really afraid of it or anything like that. She just plain and simply hated the stuff. Like it was a person that had stolen her last cup of water for the week!
"It really is a shame you aren't really a brat from the Ichi clan. Even for a stupid cat, your poison resistance is pretty abnormal. You might have even been able to learn the clan head's secret technique like his daughter, Lady Serenity." The warden said with no small amount of admiration in his voice as he used his chakra to walk across the poison as if it were solid ground, though none of it was directed at her.
He practically worshiped the ground the clan head walked on. The Ichi clan was one of the few clans in the shinobi world that specializes so heavily in poison, and few had come close to his level of expertise. Even that poison witch, Chiyo of the sand, had recognized his skills. He was sure the man's daughter would carry on his legacy and bring honor to their clan. That's why although he wouldn't help the little bi*ch, he wouldn't outright kill her either.
Very few knew about the competition between the Ichi and Nii clans and he was one of them. He knew this little runt would be responsible for bringing his clan even more prestige in the future, not that he thought they needed it. But as it was a mission assigned by his idol, he would at least try the bare minimum to accomplish it. It was tough battling between his hatred for the cat and his admiration for his clan head. This dichotomy left his actions oftentimes conflicting when it came to Yoru.
Yoru tried to stay as still as she possibly could while the warden strapped her down to the table. One of the reasons she never wore clothes was simply because most would end up dissolving in the poisonous pit and be rendered useless after their daily sessions. Luckily this was supposed to be their last session before she began her real training! She was really looking forward to it since Warden promised it would be fun!
Yoru was so caught up in her thoughts that she almost didn't notice she was already strapped down. She only barely managed to take in a large breath before she was quickly lowered down into the pit of poison.
Yoru could only grunt slightly as she felt the poison try to corrode her body by the second. It was extremely painful, but it was something she had grown used to over the years. She soon felt that familiar rush of energy fills her and she gave a small thanks inside her head to where she hoped the cat monster could hear her. She had never met it before but Warden had explained it to her enough by now that she knew it was there.
She had always felt that energy fill her when she really needed it. Like when her tummy growled a little too much or like when her punishments were a little tougher than normal.
She had been instructed to try and pull at that energy and make it her own but she didn't really want to take anything from the nice monster that had helped her so much until now. Yoru was a good girl after all! And good girls shouldn't take what isn't there's. Warden said so, so it must be true.
She was sure it was another one of his tests so she inwardly felt smug knowing she would pass with flying colors. Every day she could feel her body getting more and more familiar with the energy and she was sure she was doing the right thing. She felt she only needed a slight push to reach a breakthrough.
Outside the pool, the warden frowned seeing the brat still kicking even now. He truly had hoped somewhere in his heart that she would have died by now but that damn cat always barely kept her alive somehow. That's when he got a sinister idea. It technically wouldn't go against his mission and in fact pretty much aligned with it perfectly.
He moseyed on over to one of the shelves and picked up one of the vials with several warnings written all over it. This particular poison was one the clan head made himself that attacked the nerves where it was applied, causing near intolerable levels of pain. It was supposed to be used in interrogations but it was deemed a little too potent since each victim practically tried to kill themselves to just be rid of the pain.
So of course he looked back and dumped the whole bottle in the pit while also activating the seal that heated the entire thing up to near-boiling.
Ahh, he could finally hear the little devil screaming again, It was music to his ears. He felt like he could get lost in the sound, so much so that he didn't even notice when his head fell from his shoulders and the vicious cat-like hiss that followed.

[A/N: Oof, I didn't like writing this chapter. Little Yoru is too sweet for this world. I don't like bad things happening to her. Luckily most of the suffering is over now at least the physical kind. If anyone is wondering about the timeline it should become a little clear in the next few chapters when Yoru goes on her first mission.
Anyway thanks for reading. I'll be putting out 2 PoC's (Proof of Concepts) in the next few days but I wouldn't expect them to get updated very often. Just getting some ideas that have been on my mind out there so I can stop thinking about them so much. I'll probably just add them to a singular story titled "my ideas or something" or something. It'll basically be just two prologue chapters for different stories that I'll come back to one day if I get bored of my other stories.
Like I said in my profile, I get bored easily and my train of thought jumps around quite frequently. I'll try to stick with one or two stories for a while but I may lose interest somewhere along the way if something else really speaks to me. Anyway, see you next chapter hopefully!]
Creation is hard, cheer me up!
