Chapter 35: I challenge you.

[AUTHOR NOTE]:ATTENTION! This fanfic was slightly rewritten in every chapter. Because I noticed that when I passed it on to a colleague to translate for me, he changed some sentences and phrases that had little or nothing to do with what I had written. So I myself rewrote everything and updated all the chapters. It didn't change a lot of things but now most things should make sense now.

Hiruzen was deeply contemplating what the ninja in front of him was requesting. There were many pros and cons due to his sudden request.

"Hmmm... What led you to make such a sudden request?"

There was a reason the Third Hokage was hesitant about Namikaze Minato's request. The new batch of genin would soon be formed, and Minato would receive two of them, completing the team with his only and current pupil: Hatake Kakashi

.

"I understand that my request may be a bit sudden. Currently, Konoha doesn't exactly need my active services in the field since I'm training and supervising my genin. And I know the new batch is coming out in a few days."

Minato looked at the desk where there were two sheets of paper with the names and evaluations of two academy students who would join his Team 7.

Nohara Rin: 004936

Evaluation: A 12-year-old student with high chakra control for her age and life perspective. She doesn't belong to any ninja clan or country and comes from a humble civilian family. She has above-average intelligence and knowledge and has a relatively calm temperament, the best in the class.

Uchiha Obito: 004937

Evaluation: A 12-year-old student with below-average chakra control and terrible time management, always arriving late. The worst student in the class. Currently, he can barely perform simple and basic jutsus. The worst in the class. He has an explosive temper and easily gets enraged.

Minato didn't mind which students he received. But he was intrigued by the choices of both students for his team. Konoha was adopting a new system, choosing the best and worst students from each class and putting them together in the same team.

"Interesting choice."

"I have already talked and requested that Hatake Sakumo could train the new recruits for a short period of time during my absence. With this arrangement, I believe there won't be any problems during my absence."

Sarutobi Hiruzen closed his eyes as his fingers tapped and resonated through the room in a uniform rhythm. As Minato played all his cards flawlessly, there was no way Hiruzen could really stop the man in front of him.

"I understand, I permit it. But only for 2 months; that's the maximum time I can allow you to be out of Konoha with an imminent war happening. You know that. But before you leave, I will properly introduce them."

Accepting the request and resolving the matter, Hiruzen leaned back in his chair and asked with a calm and disinterested voice. Due to Jiraiya's strange high evaluation, it raised Hiruzen's radar.

"What do you think of Hatake Eiji?"

****

A few days later.

Currently, Eiji was becoming increasingly interested in and practicing a rather 'obscure' art.

Genjutsu.

The second pillar of shinobi arts. It was the most underestimated and obscure of the three. There were various definitions, explanations, and applications. He liked the simplest one made by some Uchiha, 'It was the method of altering reality perception.'

Genjutsu was difficult because for an average shinobi, it required very good chakra control—not on the level of medical ninjutsu, but still very good control. The exact mechanism was still debatable, but according to him, it used a small amount of chakra to disrupt the neural circuits in a person's brain, altering their perception of reality.

For an ordinary person to project a convincing perception onto someone else, it required acute attention to detail. And that's what had been happening for some time. He hadn't sensed the strange chakra at first, but as his suspicion grew, he was able to sense and isolate it.

"Kai," he said, illuminating his body with his chakra. Everything the other had done dissolved in an instant.

"Your genjutsu is interesting. People in this world use it in an extravagant way and don't explore its hidden potential."

Eiji was very satisfied with his progress. Due to him abusing the Shadow Clone Jutsu, his progress had grown by leaps and bounds because there was always a clone lurking around.

"Nii-san, Minato-sensei is here."

As their father had gone to buy groceries, only the two of them were left at home. Sakumo was rich enough to last at least a decade with his current wealth. Due to his modesty and humility, he never spent the rewards from missions and accumulated them over the years.

Since then, Sakumo had always been present for his children and never did anything beyond that.

"It's too early. What is he doing here?" Eiji grumbled.

Kakashi just ignored his incorrigible brother; he never learned to keep his mouth shut and didn't hide his annoyance with Minato. Sometimes it made the atmosphere relatively uncomfortable.

Opening the door, Kakashi blinked his eyes once. Twice. Thrice.

"This can't be happening!"

Then he rubbed his eyes and saw that he wasn't having illusions and was horrified. Now he had teammates! And he was even more horrified and annoyed because one of them was Uchiha Obito!

In his eyes, Obito was a deadweight!

"Sometimes karma bites you in a funny way, huh?" Eiji laughed and teased Kakashi, who would have to put up with the current Obito, who was nothing but an annoying weakling.

Pretending not to have heard what both of them said, Minato clapped his hands, grabbing the attention of the two troublemakers, and smiled.

"Kakashi-kun, it's a bit early. But as the schedule is tight, I had to speed things up a bit. These will be your two new allies and teammates of Team 7."

Minato gestured towards the children beside him and asked them to introduce themselves, one by one. The girl was slightly faster.

"Hello, Hatake-san. I am Nohara Rin, and it's a pleasure to meet you." She bowed politely and smiled. In this life, she only knew Kakashi in brief moments. Obito was always getting into trouble with him and always interrupting. There was never any contact or conversation beyond that.

Minato noticed that Obito was standing there making a face while pointing his finger, which was trembling with hatred? Probably? and suddenly shouted.

"It's you, you bastard! Baka-Kashi! Kussoooooo, I challenge you!"
