Chapter 28: Chapter 28: The fifth Hokage is.....
"Hokage-sama you have to be joking, we need you more than ever!!"
"Hokage-sama, you should think this through and don't make hastened decisions!"
"Hokage-sama, you should speak with us, your advisor before you make such a decision."
"Hokage-sama if this is because of Orochimaru's attack don't worry, we can find better ways to handle it next time."
Everyone started speaking and arguing.
"No, this is final. After today I won't wear this hat again..." Hiruzen spoke as everyone became silent.
"Then who have you decided to become the fifth Hokage?" Suddenly someone asked.
The Hokage looked around the room, seeing the tense atmosphere he decided to tell them.
"Oden Zaraki." He said, wanting to see their reaction.
Suddenly a hand slapped down on the table.
Everyone turned towards the one who did it and found Oden looking angry.
"I already declined." Oden simply stated, but there was anger in his tone.
'Declined?' Everyone thought. Who wouldn't want to be Hokage if they had the strength?
"Yes, sadly that is the answer, Oden-kun doesn't want to be your Hokage... so you'll have to find a new one, but for now... Oden will be acting Hokage until the new one becomes the fifth." The third Hokage said While looking around. He was pleasantly surprised that no one objected to Oden becoming Hokage... it seemed like Oden had received everyone's acceptance.
"No!" Oden spoke up again.
"This is my last command as the third Hokage, from now on, Oden Zakaraki will be acting Hokage until the fifth Hokage is appointed." The third Hokage spoke with finality.
He had wanted to do this with Jiraiya long ago, but he knew Jiraiya would escape the second he got the chance... but Oden couldn't, he had his whole clan here.
Hiruzen picked his Hokage hat off his head, walked towards Oden, and put it on his head before turning around and walking towards the door.
Before he could walk out someone stopped him and asked something.
"Who have you chosen as the fifth Hokage?" Someone asked.
"I haven't, I'll leave the decision to Oden as I trust his judgment. He'll have my full support no matter who he chooses." Hiruzen spoke as he walked out of the door, stopped, and then walked in.
"Hiruzen Saratobi, representative of the Saratobi clan has arrived." He spoke, then he walked towards the empty seat of the Saratobi clan head.
The rules were simple if the Hokage belonged to a clan, that clan couldn't have a representative sitting in on meetings, as the Hokage could be biased, or the representative could be biased.
So the Saratobi clan seat had been empty for a long time.
Everyone was just staring at Hiruzen Saratobi, as it hadn't even been 3 minutes since he declared his retirement, and now he was sitting in the Saratobi clan seat.
As for Hiruzen, he looked at Oden, conveying for him to go and sit on the Hokage's seat.
Oden looked very pissed off, in fact, his facial expression was similar to Danzo's whenever Danzo didn't get what he wanted.
Oden stood up and walked towards the Hokage seat...
As he arrived in front of it, he looked at it in unwillingness... He was certainly biased against this chair since it seemed to be cursed. whoever sat on it died.
'Maybe the fifth one to sit is the one to break the curse?... After all, Tsunade didn't die? No, it's probably because of Tsunade's unbreakable luck in gambling... that surely had something to do with it.' Oden thought.
Everyone was just looking at him standing there looking at the chair as if it were a cursed item.
"Hokage-sama" Suddenly Hiashi spoke, confirming that Oden had become the acting Hokage.
"Hokage-sama" Everyone else started calling Oden for Hokage as well.
Lastly, only Hiruzen Hadn't spoken.
"Hokage-sama." Hiruzen spoke with a big fat smile on his face.
Oden sighed and sat down.
"Then as the acting Hokage, my first command is that I'm appointing Tsunade Senjuu, grandfather of the first Hokage, one of the three heroes, one of the three sanning as the Fifth Hokage!" Oden said, which lead to another discussion.
They spoke about many matters and even asked Oden hard-hitting questions to see if he could make good choices, in the end, they had settled most affairs regarding Konoha after an hour. Oden then dismissed everyone except for Hiruzen.
"Anbu," Oden said as 8 Anbu appeared In front of him.
"Bring me Jiraiya, he is in the village, in the northeastern area. 5 minutes after his arrival, bring Naruto here." Oden spoke simply as he sat in his temporary office, he started writing something on a piece of paper as 3 of the anbu disappeared.
"Why did you want here?" Hiruzen asked.
"I'm going to give Jiraiya a mission he won't like. And in case he doesn't follow my command, I want you to reassure him to act as he is commanded." Oden explained.
"You don't need to worry about that, Jiraiya is many things, but he isn't disloyal. If you were to command him to take my life he probably would." Hiruzen spoke with certainty.
Oden simply continued writing. Ten minutes later Jiraiya arrived. Usually, he would jump through the window, but he had heard from the anbu that it was a new acting Hokage, as his teacher had retired, so he restrained himself slightly.
As he walked through the door he was surprised to see Oden Zaraki sitting in the Hokage seat with the Hokage hat on his head.
"It's been a while Jiraiya." Oden said. They hadn't seen each other since the Gold and Silver brothers were defeated.
"Huh" Both Hiruzen and Oden said as they noticed Jiraiya having a black eye and a few small scars, as if he had been beaten.
As soon as it clicked in Jiraiya's mind that Oden was the clan head of the Zaraki clan, he hid the letter of complaint against Akai Zaraki that he had brought with him. He wanted justice from the new Hokage but now it seemed impossible.
"What orders do you have for me?" Jiraiya asked as he tried to avoid the subject of his fight.
"I have a mission for you." Oden said as he pushed a yellow folder toward Jiraiya.
Jiraiya reached to pick up the folder but before he could. Oden put his hand on the folder, looking into Jiraiya's eyes very seriously.
"Let me ask you just one question before you receive your mission... are you willing to become the fifth Hokage?" Oden asked.
"No!" Jiraiya answered without hesitation.
As such, Oden lifted his hand, allowing Jiraiya to read the mission profile.
As he read the file, his eyes became wide and then he furrowed.
