Chapter 28: Anxious Kurama

Naruto had moved out on his third birthday, which fell on October 10th. In an effort to gain trust, he had refrained from acting impulsively for two months, focusing instead on daily physical training.

Finally, on a particular day, Hokage removed the Anbu agent tasked with monitoring Naruto. He sensed the absence of surveillance for the first time, thanks to his heightened perception abilities that extended for 500 meters in all directions.

Naruto couldn't contain his happiness. He had meticulously planned a new training regimen and was eager to put it into action. It was not that he had grown tired of the repetitive exercises, for he understood the importance of building a strong foundation. However, it was time to explore his other powers, including mastering Chakra control and unlocking the potent abilities within him.

As he prepared to initiate this new phase of training, a thought struck him. Hokage, he remembered, possessed a crystal ball capable of remote surveillance, using a specialized ninjutsu known as the Telescope Technique. It allowed Hokage to monitor him anytime, anywhere.

"Doesn't this guy ever give up?" Naruto grumbled, growing increasingly impatient with the constant surveillance. He realized that he was being closely watched, and he couldn't afford to expose his Six Paths powers or his bloodline-derived pupil techniques. However, he couldn't continue to remain dormant and endure this constant monitoring indefinitely.

Naruto recalled that the Telescope Technique required knowledge of the target's Chakra nature as a prerequisite. An idea began to form in his mind. What if he changed his Chakra nature by switching to Ashura's Chakra Mode or the Six Paths Mode? Would that disrupt the surveillance?

His eyes sparkled with hope as he thought of a potential way to block Hokage's remote surveillance. Naruto expanded his perceptual field to monitor his surroundings for any potential observers. Meanwhile, he devised a plan to enter a different Chakra Mode according to his strategy.

At that moment, Kurama's voice echoed in his mind: "Hey, brat, have you forgotten that I still have my Chakra?"

Naruto was initially surprised but then smirked, communicating his thoughts to Kurama: "You lonely fox, is that why you're talking to me?"

Kurama, sealed within the cage, couldn't help but twitch its metaphorical mouth at Naruto's remark. It wasn't just the loneliness that prompted it to speak up. Since that day, Naruto had seemingly stopped paying attention to Kurama for over a month. The communication channel between them had gone quiet.

Kurama observed Naruto's determination and the child's apparent patience. This newfound understanding led Kurama to initiate a conversation with Naruto on this day, offering a straightforward proposition: "I've thought it over, and I'm willing to use my power for you without causing trouble."

Naruto, ever cautious, responded, "Oh? It can't be that simple, can it? What are your conditions? If you're thinking of getting released, forget it, I don't want to die." Naruto knew there was likely more to Kurama's offer and that it wouldn't come without strings attached.

Kurama presented three conditions, setting the stage for a pivotal moment in their partnership. Naruto, always eager to face his enemies head-on, readily accepted the first condition without hesitation. Revenge against Obito and, if still alive, the infamous Uchiha Madara was a goal they shared.

As the conversation unfolded, Kurama emphasized the importance of equality in their partnership, making the second condition clear. Naruto, with his ever-friendly disposition, readily agreed, holding out the possibility of friendship in the future. Kurama, however, couldn't help but snort, revealing a hint of skepticism.

But it was the third condition that hung heavily in the air, casting a shadow over their negotiation. Kurama made a plea for the preservation of the tail beasts' lives, expressing concerns about Naruto's growing power and the potential consequences. The scene fell silent as Naruto contemplated this request.

His eyes narrowed, and a faint smirk played at the corners of his mouth. This was the one condition he couldn't easily agree to. After all, Kurama was a key player in the tragedy of his parents' death, an image etched in Naruto's memory. The gruesome sight of his parents' impalement still haunted him, a stark reminder of the pain he endured.

"You expect me to let you off the hook after all this time?" Naruto's words dripped with resentment. His tone held a mocking edge, and he couldn't help but recall the times he'd used deception and cunning, even against the legendary Third Hokage.

The promises he made to the Sage of Six Paths at the outset of his journey now hung in the balance. Could he truly forgive Kurama and the other tail beasts for their roles in his suffering? Or were his words merely a means to gain power, a strategic move to manipulate the Sage of Six Paths?

The tension between them escalated as Naruto proposed a chilling alternative—a method to consume Kurama's chakra, a potential path to revenge. A madness glimmered briefly in his eyes, leaving Kurama with a chilling question.

But after a prolonged silence, it was Kurama who finally broke it, offering a solemn apology, a glimmer of hope in their turbulent negotiation.
