Chapter 5: Training and Learning

Our chunin sensei was named Kyasychi Damo. The first month was dedicated to instilling the shinobi code into our hearts, with principles like:

"A shinobi must always prioritize the mission."

Rule 1: "A shinobi must never reveal their tears during a mission."

Rule 2: "A shinobi must discern hidden meanings within hidden meanings."

Rule 3: "A shinobi must obey their commander's instructions."

Rule 4: "A shinobi must prepare before it's too late."

Rule 5: "A shinobi must never display any weakness."

We delved into the history of Konoha and the shinobi world, albeit through the lens of Konohagakure. The academy covered subjects like mathematics, science, geography, and even hand seals such as the ram, snake, and tiger.

The second month arrived.

Rai found himself growing increasingly bored with the theoretical learning and yearned for real training. He was well aware that taijutsu classes were set to begin, and the anticipation made him quite ecstatic.

Sensei Kyasychi declared, "Alright, everyone, we've covered the basics. Now, it's time for taijutsu training." The collective relief was palpable, as finally, it felt like genuine shinobi training was underway. Kyasychi continued, "But hold on, this month of learning was meant to prepare some of you for the future. We're here to assess where you stand in terms of taijutsu."

He pointed out, "Clan children already have the basics mastered; this is for the civilians. Meet me outside at the training grounds." Once everyone gathered outside, Kyasychi initiated the training. "Now that everyone's here, let's begin. Tanya Junko vs. Hyuga Megumi." The excitement in the air was electric.

For the civilian children, this was a stark illustration of the gap between them and the clan children. Though it pained Kyasychi to put them through this, it was essential to convey the challenging nature of the shinobi path.

The match began. With a smile on her face, Megumi stood her ground, and Junko charged towards her. In the blink of an eye, Megumi evaded Junko's punch, swept her leg, and delivered a swift, powerful kick to her abdomen. Junko was sent flying out of the ring, the defeat so swift that it left everyone stunned. "What just happened?" Kyasychi explained, "That's the difference between years of clan training and no training at all."

This eye-opening experience compelled the civilians to take shinobi training more seriously. Rai was already familiar with this lesson. Next up was

Tsasumi Rai vs. Uchiha Haru.

All eyes turned to Rai and Haru. Pity seemed to envelop Rai, but he maintained a composed expression. Internally, he chuckled, "I won't let myself get beaten like that girl, that's for sure."

As Rai and Haru stepped onto the training ground, Haru's gaze seemed to imply that Rai was already defeated.

The fight began.

Haru, full of confidence, declared, "This will be a breeze." He charged towards Rai with remarkable speed, attempting a forceful kick. Rai skillfully dodged, blocked Haru's fierce punch, and countered with his own.

To Haru's surprise, Rai's counter turned out to be a feint. As Haru braced for the punch aimed at his face, he was struck in the abdomen. He staggered back, spitting saliva, but managed to regain his footing.

Rai observed that Haru's arrogance had cracked. Smiling, Rai adopted a fighting stance and gestured for Haru to come at him. Haru grew serious, rushed forward, and as he lunged, Rai unleashed a punch that connected.

Rai was taken aback by his own success, but Haru then executed a substitution jutsu and disappeared in a puff of smoke. "Substitution, oh no," Rai thought. Suddenly, he felt a powerful force on the back of his leg, and before he knew it, Haru was poised over him with his fist at Rai's face.

Rai admitted, "I concede defeat."

Even though Haru cheated, I knew I was still to weak. Sensei reprimanded Haru as he walked off like he didn't care. Though Rai stood up, he was no longer seen in the same light. Despite his loss, he had given the civilian students hope that they could catch up. "Sensei said that i needed to work on my taijutsu and unlearn somethings to be better".
