Chapter 29: Final Draw
Inside the forest of Kirigakure, Rin and Kakashi were quickly making their way towards the border in order to escape from this place.
Looking at Rin, Kakashi noticed her conflicting expression and couldn't help but realise that she was awfully quiet. Not being able to help it, Kakashi quickly asked her what was she thinking about.
"Who was that kid in black? He seemed to be younger than us and why did he save us?" Rin asked
"For now let's just be thankful that he was there. He saved our lives whoever that was. And looking at how there is absolutely no trace of our pursuers, he should be still be stalling for time for now."
"But he must know us really well personally if he decided to just sacrifice his life for us. We should go back to help him." Rin said while suddenly stopping
"What?! Rin don't do anything stupid!!" Kakashi yelled stopping just shortly after
"What do you mean?! He could be someone we who might be really close to us. How would you feel if you only later realise that the person you abandoned was one your loved ones!!" Rin said
"Rin. I get what you are trying to say but for now I don't care who that is. Our priority should be to crossing the border and heading back to the leaf village." Kakashi replied
"Aren't you the one who said that 'In this world those who do not follow orders are trash but those who abandon their friends are even worse than trash'.?" Rin said in a very low voice and saddened by the memory of the person she keeps recalling every time she hears these words.
Kakashi was shook when he heard Rin say that. He wanted to deny it but couldn't help but feel that the person who saved them just now felt familiar.
The way he held his sword, that amazingly powerful lightning nature and that voice. All of that simply reminded him of a boy from his clan, the newest member of his team who was also the first one to die in the war shortly before Obito.
'But...this isn't the time to remember a dead person.' Kakashi exclaimed mentally
"I made a promise to that very same person who said those words to me for the very first time. I have been trying to keep my promise with him. Rin...don't let me break my promise to Obito" Kakashi said with his voice breaking and sounding incredibly weak by the end.
"Fine" Rin said looking down, clenching her fists and holding back her tears.
"Come on let's go" Kakashi said and turned around but immediately sensed multiple chakra signatures coming towards them.
'Fuck!!'

"Alright let's see here we have about 50 people huh. That's a lot more than I expected." I said
"Who are you?" An anbu asked
"Oh..oh wait-wait just a minute. I want to say something cool...'Your worst nightmare' Nah that's way too cliche. Think Think!!" I said as I put my index fingers at the sides of my head

I dodged a kunai by side stepping and then a barrage of kunais flew my way which I dodged flamboyantly.
"Whoa hey come on you can't attack a person when he is about to drop the coldest line of his life!!" I yelled as I dodged and parried the kunais coming my way until one with paper bombs attached to it flew my way which I dodged by jumping back.
"Get rid of him quickly. We need to go after those two!!" the anbu who I now assume to be their leader said.
'I am still quite low on chakra but if it is just to stall for time. I think I can manage. But just to be on the safe side.'
'System, DRAW'
I will use my last chance to get an ability from the system.

This left everyone stunned since they started to think that I obviously wouldn't be speaking to myself in the midst of battle so there must be someone else around as my backup which forced them to stop rushing at me and raise their vigilance towards their surroundings.
This was a good time to launch an attack on them when they were just a little distracted but I couldn't capitalise on this opportunity because it felt like my brain had just committed suicide.
Who the fuck gives that as a reward anyway.

You know I waited for a while but it didn't give me a reply which just made me angrier and I started thrashing the anbus in front of me.

'I think I went a little overboard just now' I thought as 10 minutes had passed and I was standing on the pool of blood with many bodies just lying lifelessly on the ground.
But I ignored all of that since it's time to catch up to Kakashi and Rin now.
I concentrated lightning on my feet, launching myself in their direction, creating a crater at where I was previously standing on.
I can go at my full speed now since I recovered a good enough part of my chakra by performing the force control while fighting. Besides this lot was much weaker than the ones I fought before so I didn't consume much chakra either.
I am pretty sure I ran through a few trees and big stones but that doesn't matter since I had successfully gotten away from them.
I think if I move in my normal speed now, I can catch up to them in a minute or two.
*Clang*
'Okay so if I stall for time am I supposed to hear that sound?'

"Zetsu are you sure that this the right direction?" Obito asked
"Yes I am absolutely certain." Zetsu replied
'Of course it is the correct location. I made sure to send even more shinobis after Kakashi and Rin from other directions knowing that that kid would do something about the ones already chasing them.' Zetsu smirked
"I just hope I reach them in time. It has been a long time since I last saw them. I can't wait to see their reaction when they find out that I am actually alive." Obito said and started visiting the good old memories of his childhood.
All of his interactions with team Minato surfaced and he started reminiscing about the past.
'You better protect Rin, Kakashi. You promised me.' Obito thought
