One Month Later
Naruto, Hana, and Satsuki were walking through one of the alleys in the village, each of them thinking about what they were just told by Obito-sensei. They were considered part of what was called the Rookie 13, this group included: Natsuki, Narumi, Nawaki, Sakura, Shino, Kiba, Hinata, Ino, Shikamaru, Choji, Hana, Satsuki, and Naruto. Each and every one of them had been signed up for the chunin exams.
The chunin exams were an opportunity for genin to be promoted to chunin in a three-part exam. They were required to participate in teams of three, there could be a larger cell of genin but the normal requirement was three. The chunin exams happened twice a year, every six months there was a chunin exam that was held by a different nation. Some of the strongest genin from all over the Elemental Nations would come to participate in the event. The chunin exam that was starting at the end of the week was being hosted in Konoha.
From what Obito-sensei had told them, all of the Rookie 13 were required to take part in the chunin exam in order to show the world the village's strength. Normally rookie genin weren't required to take the exams after only being genin for a short time, but since the recently graduated class was composed almost entirely of clan heirs and other prominent clan children they didn't really have a choice.
It had only been a little over two months since all of them had become genin. It was far too soon to participate in something as risky as the chunin exams and they all knew it. Even Naruto had not been expecting to be competing so soon, however he was more than ready. He had been training himself even harder after their mission to Haru no Kuni. The ravenette still wouldn't tell the rest of the team what he was training himself in, saying he wanted an ace up his sleeve or something to rely on other than Katon jutsu.
The team had long since stopped doing D-rank missions, in fact amongst the rookie teams they had the most amount of C-rank missions completed. There had been no incidents like the one in Haru no Kuni, much to the dismay of Naruto who wasn't really getting a challenge from common bandits and such. They had completed 51 D-rank missions, 14 C-rank missions, and 1 A-rank mission. It was an impressive track record for a team that had only been active for a little over two months. In all honesty they were strong enough to compete, but more experience would be required to be ready.
The three genin were brought out of their thoughts as they walked into where another alley intersected and were greeted with a rather pitiful sight.
The sandaime's grandson, Sarutobi Konohamaru, was being held in the air by his scarf by a genin who had no sense of self pride whatsoever. He wore a black bodysuit with what looked like cat ears on the head, black shinobi sandals, Suna hitai-ate, and his face was almost completely covered in purple make up. There was also something covered in bandages strapped to his back.
Next to him was a blonde haired girl who looked embarrassed at her teammates actions. Her hair was a sandy blonde color and was tied into four pigtails. She had light green colored eyes with a tanned complexion. She was slightly taller than the boy in the cat body suit. There was a battle fan secured on her back and her Suna hitai-ate was tied around her neck. She wore a light purple colored battle dress with mesh that was common to shinobi underneath.
The youngest looking one looked agitated at the moment. He had short spiky red hair and sea foam green eyes with black rings around them. Above his left eye was a kanji for love. Most notable was the large gourd that he wore on his back.
Off to the other side of the alley were Team 7. Sakura was looking very scared of the Sunagakure shinobi and was trying to hide behind Nawaki, who was looking smug as ever and demanding that the shinobi release the boy. Natsuki and Narumi were behind them looking embarrassed at the scene that Nawaki and Sakura caused.
"I said let the gaki go, unless you want me to take him back by force." Nawaki threatened at the Suna shinobi. A short, blonde kid, wearing orange doesn't exactly stike fear into the hearts of your opponents.
"Hm I don't think so this gaki bumped into me first. I think he needs to be taught some manners." The boy with make up said.
"Kankuro what the hell are you doing? Gaara's already worked up enough!" The blonde haired girl said.
Gaara had sensed something familiar inside of Nawaki and was trying to figure out what it was. Shukaku was screaming for Gaara to kill the orange wearing fool, and he may do just that. The boy was getting on his nerves after all.
"Take it easy Temari. These Konoha gakis think they can do whatever they want just because they're one of the strongest villages. I'm just gonna teach him a lesson so he doesn't do it again."
It seemed that Hana and Satsuki wanted to get involved, as they quickly Shunshined behind the boy in the body suit and stopped his first from connection with Konohamaru's face.
"What the hell?" The make up wearing boy asked.
Hana quickly grabbed Konohamaru and got him away from all of the commotion.
Naruto figured it was time for him to make his presence known.
"Just what the hell is going on here?" He asked loudly to everyone in the alleyway.
Everybody besides Satsuki turned to the newcomer and had various reactions.
Kankuro only looked annoyed at the entrance of another Konoha Shinobi.
Temari blushed heavily at the sight of the shirtless genin.
Gaara looked somewhat...scared?
