Chapter 14: Trouble
Naruto hated trouble
It was the very reason he kept to himself despite being mocked. It was the very reason he only showed the minimal requirements to pass and make sure he was not in the spotlight.
Yet here he was being reprimanded for harming a clan heir. Despite his witness Yamanaka Ino defending him in self defense, it seemed the headmaster was against him. No, it was apparent that the headmaster despised him.
He looked up to meet the eye of the man in question, Kuchiba Yasuo, late fifties.
"Despite your claims, the number of witnesses that came to defend Inuzuka Kiba outnumber yours. It's only logical for me to assume you and Yamanaka Ino are lying." The headmaster declared as Naruto clenched his fists under his sleeves.
He had to fight to stop himself from glaring at the man or lunging at him. He put all his effort in restraining himself and to keep his face stoic.
"Are you really not going to investigate?" He asked calmly
"What is there to investigate, if you claim it was in self defense why aren't you injured? Out of the 9 witnesses only one of them sided with you." The headmaster said as he narrowed his eyes before he inspected Naruto.
"Don't tell me that you, the dead last of the academy, subpar grades and not a single win in sparring practice as well as barely passing kunai and shuriken throwing, beat Inuzuka Kiba, a clan heir that trained since he was young. A student who can very well place in the top ten?" He scoffed at Naruto.
"I don't know what trick you pulled but because of you, now I have to apologize to the Inuzuka clan!" Kuchiba Yasuo said as he brought up his hand and prepared to smack the boy before a blur appeared next to him.
A silver haired man wearing a porcelain mask appeared to grab the hand that was about to smack the boy.
An anbu of the leaf.
"Argh!" The old man said in pain as the anbu clenched on the man's hand. It was only a moment later that the anbu let the man's hand go before disappearing in a blur followed by a loud roar.
"What is the meaning of this?!"
Naruto and the headmaster turned their heads to the door that was now opened to reveal two figures. One was the third hokage while the other was a blonde man that Naruto was unfamiliar with.
The roar came from the blonde man in question. He looked angry as he stared at the headmaster while the hokage too had narrowed eyes as he gazed at the old man that was about to smack the red headed boy.
"How dare you! A headmaster harming his own student, do you have no shame?!" Yamanaka Inoichi, the blonde man roared as he pointed towards the headmaster.
Inoichi heard that Minato and Kushina's child was treated unfairly but still to dare hit a child, he was furious!
On the way, he was filled in on the events that lead to the boy's current predicament. Getting into conflict with Tsume's son, subsequently beating the Inazuka, who was then carried to the nurses office. Though a few of the Inazuka's friends reported what happened which led to Naruto getting in trouble.
"Y-Yamanaka-sama, p-please understand the situation. This brat harmed a fellow student!" Kuchiba Yasuo tried to speak as he looked at towards the hokage for help.
The boy in question was surprised. One for the fact that Ino's father was seemingly defending him while the other was for the appearance of the hokage.
"Enough" The hokage said as he shook his head in disappointment for Kuchiba Yasuo. To think the headmaster he appointed himself would not even do a thorough investigation on both sides.
"I have already been informed of what happened. It was indeed Inuzuka Kiba's fault, a quick investigation would yield you with that conclusion. I am disappointed in you Yasuo" Hiruzen said as he narrowed his eyes.
"Not only have you handled this matter poorly, you also stated a lie. I know for a fact Inuzuka Tsume would not pursue this matter" Hiruzen stated, Tsume was a friend of Kushina's. She would probably beat her son herself if she heard what happened, not to mention she would probably say Kiba deserved what happened to him.
The Inuzuka clan was a clan where the strong ruled over the weak, if you started something but in the end was the one that lost, you would be nothing but a laughingstock.
"H-hokage-sama! I-I can explain" Kuchiba Yasuo said as his face paled. He knew how much the hokage favored the demon brat, but to think he favored him so much to come for such a trivial matter. He knew if he didn't do something now, he would lose his position as headmaster of the academy.
"Enough, leave. By the end of the day I no longer want you in the academy!" The hokage bellowed causing Kuchiba Yasuo to flinch in fear, "Y-yes Hokage-sama"
With that the old man hurriedly left though not before shooting a glare at the red headed boy.
Naruto however, didn't pay attention to the headmaster. No instead he looked at awe and surprise at the hokage. In awe of such unfathomable display of power and dominance, one where no one would question you. He longed for the day he too can do that, the power to be free.
Surprise at the blatant stance the hokage was taking by taking his side. The old man in front of him was someone who he used to call 'grandpa' or 'grandfather', to see him come to his defense warmed his heart, only if it was by a little.
He closed his eyes for a moment, recalling the memories of his childhood.
Only a handful of moments were there moments where he was truly happy. Most included memories with the hokage, touring the village or camping outside by the river with the old man. Though despite that grandson/grandfather relationship, he slowly but surely drew a clear line and kept the man at an arms length.
After all, the man was hokage, surely he knew the stance of the villagers towards him. When he was younger he hoped the person he looked up to as a grandfather figure would help him with how the village treated him, but in the end the man in question did nothing.
Opening his eyes, he looked up to meet the eyes of the person he once regarded as his grandfather.
"..." Hiruzen looked at the distant look that was in the boy's eyes before he spoke to the Yamanaka clan head.
"Inoichi, give us some privacy"
Hearing that, the blonde man looked hesitant but eventually nodded as he made his way out the room.
*Click*
The sound of the door closing resounded as the hokage looked towards the boy before opening his mouth.
"We need to talk"
