Chapter 366: Stupid Decisions
Seeing that Yami had started attacking now, Kakashi looked at Guy and said "Guy I don't know what that boy is thinking but he must have a pretty good reason. For now, we should also help him."
Guy nodded and said "Of course, I will help out my student in time of his need. Kids let's jump into this and show them our youth."
Lee and Sasuke were just waiting for their Teachers to give them permission and they just jumped in the fight running toward Sasori and Kakuzu.
Among everyone present there those two were the weakest ones and were even injured.
Neji hesitated a bit but decided to jump in and move toward Konan. He was accompanied by Temari while Kankuro and Chiyo followed Sasuke and Lee.
Kakashi turned around toward Gaara and said "You are the most suitable opponent for Deidara and the only thing we can do for now is restrict his movement." he then turned toward Naruto and said "Me and Guy will use sand as a medium to jump towards Deidara but you will need to surround him."
Naruto smirked and said "Of course with my army of shadow clones, there won't be any problem doing that. I will bring that bird down from the sky along with the one sitting on top of it."
As everyone started fighting, Yami came close to Kakashi and Guy and mumbled something. Then Guy and Kakashi also relayed something to the others. At first Tobi and Konan were alarmed by it but seeing that they didn't change their positions or pace of fighting after it, they didn't think too much of it.
While Kakashi was strategizing and giving everyone suitable tasks to defeat the enemy in front of them, Yami was trying to fight with Tobi. Since he had already lost an arm to Yami, Tobi was in no way letting him even get close. He didn't know how Yami did it but Kamui wasn't something that would stop the likes of him so Tobi started to actively dodge Yami's attacks.
This made Tobi realize how much dependent he had gotten on that skill of his. Yami continued to attack Tobi but none of them were connecting. At first, Tobi thought that it was because he was just good at predicting Yami's moves but soon he realized that the attacks Yami was throwing at him were nowhere near strong enough to injure him. So why even waste time doing it?
And just a barrage of wind blades and a fireball to make Tobi jump back was enough for Yami to accomplish his goal. As Tobi jumped back he looked at Yami and saw him smirk and just turn his back and run back towards the place where everyone was fighting.
Tobi was confused for a second but he quickly realized that Yami had pushed him away from the other Akatsuki members especially in the opposite direction of Sasori and Kakuzu.
'Are you so obsessed with killing the ones that escaped from your grasp that you are turning your back on me?' Tobi thought as he saw Yami run toward the two slightly injured Akatsuki members and Kakashi also charged Chidori in one of his hands and started running toward them.
Konan also noticed this and attempted to throw some papers towards Kakashi to slow down his pace but that attack was interrupted by a large Rasengan made by Naruto. As the giant Rasengan met with those papers, there was an instant explosion.
Sakura quickly looked at the explosion and said "They were normal papers but Paper bombs?"
She thought that Naruto would be hurt due to the explosion and Konan thought the same as well but Naruto was quickly spotted running at Konan with a Rasengan in his hand.
"That must have been a shadow clone. The 9 tails jinchuriki really has a lot of chakra to spare." Konan said as she pushed her hands forward making hundreds of papers shoot toward Naruto.
On the other side of the battlefield Kakashi was about to reach Sasori and Kakuzu when Sasori sent two puppets toward Kakashi and Kakuzu started preparing his hair-like tentacles to attack Kakashi.
Tobi immediately shouted "Their targets are Sasori and Kakuzu." Konan glanced at Tobi once and turned toward Deidara and said "Go and stop The copy ninja from getting his hands on them."
Deidara without questioning Konan, just jiggled his sleeves making tens of white clay centipedes fall below him toward Gaara. This forced Gaara to use most of his sand to protect himself and the allies around him.
Taking advantage of the situation, Diedara flew toward Sasori and Kakuzu.
'Does Konan really think I need this idiot's protection from one Shinobi just because he is well known? I hope he has a good bounty on his head.' Kakuzu thought as he saw Kakashi approaching near.
Tobi also bolted toward Sasori to stop him from being ambushed from all sides and killed. Just as most of the shinobis were focused on running toward the two injured Akatsuki members, and the Akatsuki members were also rushing to save their allies, a sudden change occurred.
Yami who was now running toward Sasori and Kakuzu suddenly looked to the side and his eyes met with those of Konan. At first glance, Konan didn't think much of it and only thought as if it was an enemy's stare but a small smirk on Yami's face told her something was wrong.
Just as she thought, Yami suddenly stretched his right palm in front of him and turned completely to the side. This caused a thick and firm layer of air to appear in front of his arm. The Akatsuki members were confused as to why Yami suddenly stopped his momentum but then they all got a feeling that they had only heard about it.
This was the feeling of fear. The ones who had witnessed Yami's bloodshed when he was active in the hidden mist village, were reminded of this feeling. Everyone saw dark red tentacles appear out of Yami's back. This time he wasn't facing Sasori and Kakuzu but Konan.
Yami leaned forward and the next second he disappeared from where he was standing. Only a small cloud of dust with remnants of blue lightning remained in that place. Tobi's eyes widened as he understood that Yami's target wasn't the two injured Akatsuki members but Konan. Before he or Konan could even react, a splash of blood appeared near Konan. Konan looked down and saw Yami had slashed her chest diagonally. She spread her arms sideways forming wings made of paper as she turned around and looked at Yami's back. But before she could even flap her wings once, Yami disappeared again in the same way. She flapped her wings once hoping to be in the sky the next second but she didn't feel the lift off. She looked to her side and saw both her wings had been cut in half.
'How can he move at such speed?' Konan thought.
"Don't waste your time thinking." A calm voice entered her ear as she looked back and saw Yami standing.
She wanted to make her move and create distance between the two of them but the tentacles that were on Yami's back started moving towards her. Seeing no other way, she hugged herself and covered her entire body with Paper. But this time it wasn't normal paper but paper bombs.
But this wasn't going to stop Yami from doing what he was doing. He let the tentacles touch the paper bombs which started a chain reaction of explosion
"GET BACK" Temari shouted and waved her huge fan towards the explosion so as to blow away any lit paper bombs coming in the way of the sand and leaf shinobis.
This move also blew a lot of sand in the air blurring the vision of the ones in the vicinity. Neji used his Byakugan to see where Temari and the others were and regrouped with them.
Using the dome of paper bombs as cover, Konan quickly moved back and stood beside Tobi.
"This kid is as menacing as I had heard." Konan said while breathing heavily.
Tobi looked at her and said "This is exhaustion that's causing you to sweat but fear. Don't let it shadow your mind or else he might win." He said it in a low but heavy voice.
"What just happened?" Deidara shouted looking at Sasori and then at Konan.
Sasori glanced at Konan and said "They acted like we were the targets but instantly made a move on Konan. She was their target all along while we were just bait."
The expression of Kakuzu's face turned uglier when he heard that. He was someone who had survived a fight with the god of shinobi himself. How dare a kid use him as bait when he deserves to be regarded as a force to be reckoned with?
"I WILL CRUSH THIS KID'S SKULL" Kakuzu said as he stepped forward only to be faced with a yellow-haired leaf shinobi.
