Chapter 2: Decisions
"Bleugh!" Gel gagged at the putrid smell of iron and the deep blood-red color staining the furniture and walls. He was disgusted and horrified, his mind raced at what could have occurred. He felt his mind get more cloudy as he slowly lost touch with reality.
Slap!
Gel slapped himself in the face without any resistance. He woke up from his insanity and thought rationally, 'If they were dead I would probably see their bodies. So what happened?'
He got an idea and ran to his parent's room, while he was running the blood didn't leave his eyes. The walls, roof, and floor were all smeared with blood, all this did was make him more confused about what could have happened.
He entered his parent's room and looked around before his eyes focused on a tall chest. He went up to it and knocked it over with force, revealing a trap door. He then pulled on the circular handle desperately, causing the trap door to open and a cloud of dust to jump on his face.
Gel coughed and waved his hand making the dust disperse. He went into the trap door and climbed down the ladder in darkness and after a couple of seconds, he put his foot on the ground.
He was in pitch darkness and couldn't see a thing. He used his hands to feel against the wall until he felt a light switch and flicked it upwards with his finger.
The light on the roof of the secret room turned on a dim light and painted a wall of light over the room. The room only had a chair, a desk, and a 6-monitor computer. Gel went up to the computer and turned it on.
The monitors turned on one at a time revealing black and white security feedback. Each monitor showed a public part of the house, front yard, back yard, front living room, back living room, kitchen, and the hallway.
He learned that his mom and dad invested in security cameras when he was 15 years old. He was angry at first, but he just got used to it. He was still not completely happy with their decision, but he was for sure happy about it right now.
Gel looked at the monitor showing feed from the first living room and reversed the footage. He went back as far as he could, a day back. When he went a day back the living went from a bloody place filled with dread to a cheerful place filled with life.
He reminisced for a moment before getting back on track, he had to learn what happened. He fast-forwarded until he saw something strange, the door opened at 3 AM. He slowed the feed down before looking at what it was.
The door opened and a group of people entered the building, with SWAT gear covering their bodies. Three of them went into the hallway and started to open doors and enter the room. One exited after another, always with a person in their arms. First was his younger sister, then his younger brother, the rest followed soon after them.
The two that were left behind opened up what look like paint canisters. Gel couldn't tell what was in the paint canisters because of the black in white, but he was able to guess what it was.
The two began to throw the liquid in the paint canisters all over the place, and Gel's guess was confirmed. They were spreading blood all over the place. After the three finished kidnapping his family they joined the two in spreading blood all over the house.
This continues for an hour before they all left. Gel was left shell shocked, 'Why did this happen? Did my mom and dad commit crimes...they wouldn't also kidnap the kids if it was just my mom and dad.'
'They would have just arrested my mom and dad then and there if they were looking to arrest them as well. Well, I guess I can throw out the idea of calling the police. So what am I supposed to do then...it's not like I can do nothing. If the government is involved in this I feel like it isn't anything good.'
'If it's the government then I can't do anything against them. I'm just a normal citizen, maybe if I had some leverage that could force them to let me get my family back...THAT'S IT! New Creation! If there is one thing that could give me quick fame and influence it's this new world-changing game.'
'It does sound ridiculous though...I'm not affiliated with any big guilds and I've never played a full dive game before. It's not like I can take this to court though the government has too much power for me to use the power of public opinion for something that only matters to me. This is my only chance.'
Gel came to a decision, he would become famous in this new game that will change the world. For where he is in life right now, this is the only option. He reinsured his decision and left the security room, he had to go back to his dorm. He already pre-ordered a copper gaming pod and the New Creation game to his dorm.
He walked through the blood-ridden house with confidence. He didn't care about the blood anymore, it wasn't like it was his family's blood anyway.
He went in front of the door and hesitated. Should he do this right now? Was this the right decision? Gel was filled with indecisiveness, he was beginning to get cold feet.
"NO!" he yelled to himself
"You can't afford to not take a risk! You must do this no matter the cost, no matter who you must hurt or kill, you will do this and you will succeed! NO MATTER THE SACRIFICE!!!"
Gel yelled loudly at himself and pushed open the front door. He walked out of the house different than when he entered. He had an aura that said, "Don't get in my way or suffer the consequences."
