Chapter 62: Protection Method
Lady Isis was pouting while facing the lord, instantly making the lord's heart ache.
Still, Isis did not comment on it further, instead finishing her explanation, "When the Fate Gem experiences changes, it means that the host soul has reached its awakened state. The awakened combat soul communicates with the main soul through the host once it too stimulates.
"Josiah's fate gem experienced seven changes. The first was a light of Samsara. This indicates a combat soul with fate power. Perfect for dual force formulation. The second change was a ball of thunderbolt force. This represents the high elemental force of the thunder or lightning elements! This signifies that our son is compatible with more than one of the five phases, having a natural hidden phase. Josiah has a combat soul with innate elemental force, that force most likely being lightning," Lady Isis' jewel-like eyes were shining with pink and gold lights as she paused, "The third change was enough to confirm our concerns. Josiah most likely possesses a Sky Wolf combat soul!"
After the words 'Sky Wolf' were mentioned, all the elders took deep breaths and exchanged glances with each other. Sky Wolves are a species of second-generation Origin God Beasts. They are creatures who were born powerful with natural law systems of their own inside their bloodline or true lifeblood powers. There is only one significant difference between a Sky Wolf and other Spirit Wolf species.
That difference was divine might! The power of Truth!
There are seven grades of combat souls. Starting at S Rank, with F Rank being the lowest. But having a weak combat soul didn't necessarily mean one would definitely be trash. It just said that 90% of the time, one would very likely be trash.
S-Grade combat souls possess an ability known as a divine spark. This is what separates the S-Grade from the A-Grade. A Combat Soul that has the force genesis of an Origin God Beast will gift the host soul a considerable advantage in the comprehension of that power. There was even a chance of inheriting its divine spark and Origin God Beast bloodline, also known as the Divine Legacy.
However, this was the rarest of rare occurrences. Only souls with a significant destiny would be given such an opportunity.
"Less of this, Icy. I'm sure we all know what you've mentioned so far. How do we explain the fourth change?" The pragmatic voice of Lord Osiris ended the silence.
He was far past agitated at this point. How many good deeds did he do in his previous life to have such a child?
"The fourth change..." Lady Isis couldn't help but smile as she glanced at a dark corner of the room. When Jody followed her eyes, he saw Ke Si emerge from the shadows. Then, the space surrounding the nine of them was replaced with darkness for everything more than four meters away from their group.
"As Elder Mercer can tell you, a Fate Gem's explosion means one thing. A divine power!" Lady Isis' voice rose by an octave, her breathing quickening. "Well, what you may not know is that when the Fate Gem experiences a rebirth, it can only mean that there is more than one divine power! That's when it becomes a Destiny Star because the destiny of the person it chooses is great enough for the heavens to take notice."
Jody couldn't help but remember the twilight proxy's announcements about the Legion of Pharaoh members watching him. Did this also count as the heavens taking notice?
What she didn't tell them was that only a Fallen One would get such a reaction. What this world didn't understand was that the so-called Fallen One was really just a hollow soul that transcended from its sealed state to live again. The fate gem detected the elevated state of her son's soul and also transcended.
Otherwise, the divine powers wouldn't be able to coexist.
This meant that Jody was indeed 'possessed' by one of his combat souls. However, there were no changes after the previous incident. Therefore, Isis felt certain of her suspicion that this boy was somehow born a transcendent, unlike herself. Something had happened to the original baby's soul, and Jody had taken over.
There was no way to gauge at what point this happened, only that it was before those blue eyes saw the world. A flaw in the soul would usually result in death or retardation. Hollow souls couldn't easily break their seals, either. Yet, Jody had done so somehow. Perhaps it was the unique dark power in his soul. He had managed to change his own fate and be reborn! If that was the case, this was truly her son through and through.
Moreover, both mother and son were Fallen Ones. Could there be such a coincidence in the world?
"What!?" exclaimed the crowd.
There wasn't a single one of them who wasn't in shock. At their high level of power, they were all aware that the first lady's choice of the words 'more than one' was no slip of the tongue. She would not say such words without confidence! Jody's Fate Gem had three primary force changes, which means he had three combat souls. This was already insane.
A hero could only have three combat souls at one time. Any more and their main soul's Soul Source would become cancerous. It was spelled the same way as death.
On top of that, his Fate Gem exploded and experienced a rebirth. That meant that, out of the three, little Jody possessed more than one combat soul with divine power. Couldn't there be a chance that all three were divine? In fact, Isis realized that perhaps even Jody's transcendent soul was likely S-grade. How else would he fall?
'There's no way…still moody?' Contrary to Jody's expectations, no one looked happy or excited anymore.
Everyone other than himself and his mother had solemn expressions on their faces. At this moment, he realized that there was some major issue with him being so talented. This was something Jody had trouble understanding. No matter how you look at it, this is awesome, isn't it?
"My lady, the day has been long. This one thinks that perhaps you should take the third young master back home to eat and rest," said Elder Fontaine.
"Indeed, my love. Allow me to escort you out." Lord Osiris lifted his son from his prison of levitation and placed him on his shoulders.
Jody couldn't help but grow excited despite himself. However, he knew they were being driven out. This made Jody's little face frown. He knew he couldn't expect them to speak seriously in front of a child like him. Just like that, his potential had been revealed at last! Because of this, he was being treated as an abnormal freak!
'What kind of sick jerks send a kid to his room for getting the best scores?' thought Jody privately.
However, all Jody knew for sure was that he was still too weak.
After escorting his wife and son to their private chambers, Osiris returned to the main chamber in a gust of wind.
"My lord, there is no way we can keep today's matters totally under wraps," Elder Fontaine spoke the words in his heart immediately. "Perhaps it would be best for you to send the young lord into the central region post haste. They can protect him there."
"Protect him?" Osiris sneered in disagreement. "What sort of danger do you think he would face growing up in that land? He has no family of his own outside of his grandfather, who he doesn't even know. Powerful though the old man may be, he simply does not have the time to protect him. Killing Josiah would be all too easy for my brothers."
Osiris shuddered at the thought of those power-hungry madmen in his original clan. They had reached heights of power that the Lord of House Trillwolf could only dream of for now.
"This land will soon descend into chaos. He will only die by staying here," Elder Mercer also seemed to be in favor of sending little Josiah away. "Second brother made an excellent suggestion, my lord."
"I will offer him even better protection than going to the central region. He shall be blessed as an imperial medjay in the Saint Anubis Empire," Osiris said imperiously. A mysterious and complex wheel made of fate power appeared in his palm. "As for the old man, I doubt he will be stingy with his badges. As the royal protector of two messengers of the Pharaoh God Anubis, Jody will be protected by the heavens themselves. This will provide my son with protection wherever he may go."
