Chapter 4: Chapter 4 – Issue resolved

Ye-

"EVERYBODY STAND DOWN." A man interrupted my thoughts - it was the chief. Breaking through the ring of villagers, he approached us, his face a mixture of suppressed rage and begrudging sympathy. Halting a meter from me, he locked eyes with me.

"Boy, who... no, what are you?" His face twitched with each word.

"Lucian," I responded, somehow aware of the name that belonged to this new form of mine.

"Lucian, I- I'll overlook this once." The chief's forced the words out of his mouth, his eyes darting to Linia's tear-filled gaze. "Don't make me regret it. Understood? He seemed unable to meet Linia's disbelieving yet relieved stare, his eyes diverting in apparent shame.

The villagers gasped collectively.

"Chief...? Are we really le-"

"Silence. We don't know that," the chief interjected, his voice cutting through the near-silent crowd. He shot one last pained look at Linia before gritting his teeth.

"Thank your mother, kid," he growled, turning abruptly and waving a dismissive hand. The crowd dispersed hastily, some casting lingering, curious glances in my direction.

I watched as the large crowd quickly dispersed, my heart pounding as the previous adrenaline died down. That could've gone so wrong, I thought, letting out a shaky breath.

Turning toward my mom her face was flushed and streaked with tears that showed no signs of stopping. She hugged me tightly, as if the mere act of holding me could banish the danger we'd just faced.

Soon, it was just the two of us in the clearing, the only sound breaking the silence was my mother's occasional sniffling. Finally, she opened her eyes to reveal a warm, brown gaze. Taking my hand, she led me to a small shack that I assumed was our home.

The silence was thick and palpable as we trudged through the muddy terrain, each step adding a weight of its own.

Entering the small shack, I took a good look at its interiors and god, was it bad. The only furniture it had was two rickety chairs and a table, a bed could be seen in the top left corner of the shack, situated next to the only window in the small shack.

On the top right was a kitchen area, the type that ran with a furnace and wood. A bellow could be seen lying on the ground near the opening of the furnace. A blunt metal knife could be seen lying on the small countertop next to the furnace, blunt till the point it was visible to the naked eye.

My mom collapsed onto the bed, burying her face in her hands as another wave of sobs broke the quiet.

I just stood there, trying to understand what in the flying fuck had just happened. Skills...? Unique skills, extra skills and skills? This is just like... Slime. I thought, a slight smile appearing on my face.

This is wonderful! Oh, I really am in the world of Slime! Wait, calm down, calm the fuck down Jack. I don't know that for sure yet, I need to confirm it to make sure.

Glancing at Linia, I took a seat at the far end of the room. Twilight was casting its golden glow over the village, but the earlier tension still hung heavy in the air, overshadowing the setting sun's beauty.

Mom had eventually quieted down, but her posture remained tense. My mind was a chaotic mess. One moment, I was facing death by a fucking construction vehicle; the next, I was inhabiting a child's body in what seemed to be another world - possibly the world of Slime, I hoped.

Hehehe... I have my own unique skill, one that's not even in the original story, and I've evolved into a Demonoid like Leon. Ah, thank god I'm a Majin and not a human, it would be so much more difficult for me if I was one. *Yawn* But man, why am I so tired? Is it because of this body?

Exhaustion eventually won over, and I drifted into sleep, my thoughts still racing.

I woke to a surprising sight—I was in the straw bed. My mom clung to me, her face etched with worry even in sleep. I stared at her face, only now could I really appreciate it - it was a ten out of ten. At least, If i compared it to the girls of my previous life. But for some reason, I didn't feel any arousal. Probably likely its because she's this body's mom. I thought.

Lying there, I allowed myself to relax, comforted by my mother's warm embrace.
