Chapter 2: Chapter 2: Racism 2

"What do you mean, white family!" Daniel snapped, walking towards Mr. Martin, and my dad held him back.

"Stay out of this." He commanded, and Daniel walked back slowly, glaring at them with his teeth clenched.

"What about the money we have paid?" he asked angrily.

"Oh, about that. I will return your money by next month." Mr Martin replied.

My dad took a hand full of his shirt and pulled him closer to him, glaring into his eyes.

"What do you mean by next week? Where do you want me and my family to go?" he asked, gnashing his teeth.

"Hmm, I don’t know. I wish I could help." He replied by looking away, and my dad let go of his shirt.

Suddenly, Daniel pulled a gun from his pocket and shot it in the air. before turning to Mr. Martin. He walked over to him and put the gun in his head.

"It appears that people do not do the right thing until they are forced to." Daniel said, glaring at Mr. Martin. He was sweating while his legs were wobbling.

"Here-here is the key." He stuttered, bringing it out of his pocket, and we all opened our eyes wide in surprise. What a change of heart.

Daniel snatched the keys from his hand and took the gun off of his head.

"I thought you were my friend and you are the one doing this to me. What will you gain?" My dad said, sounding hurt.

"I will receive payment from two families." He said, running away with his briefcase.

"Better run!!" Daniel exclaimed, kicking the air.

"Dad, you are so unlucky with friends." Daniel added, dragging his luggage to the doorstep of the house. He rested his luggage on the entrance and unlocked the door while we all followed him.

Imagine if we didn’t have a brave or outspoken person in our family? We would still be outside by now.

We got into the house, and it was dark. I switched on my phone touch and used it to locate the light switch. I walked to it and switched on the light.

The house was a total mess, with dirty clothes covering the furniture and garbage lying around.

"We have a lot of cleaning to do," my mum said, tying her hair into a bun.

"Let’s clean our rooms first. This house has three rooms, which is perfect for our family," Daniel said, dragging his luggage up the stairs.

"I think Daniel is right," I said, following him with my luggage.

I opened the first room I came across and dragged my luggage inside. I closed the door and looked around the room. It was painted green and had only a window and a big bed big enough for two people, which was in the middle of the room, and a chandelier. I quickly opened the wardrobe and it was empty. I opened the door beside the bed.

"This must be the bathroom," I said, opening the door and an unpleasant smell ran into my nostrils. The bathroom was a total mess with dirty tissues laying in every corner. It was like a pig was living here before me.
