Chapter 35: SYSTEM'S ADVICE

It has been 3 days, and the atmosphere inside Terrence's house was still cold and silent.

Terrence and Abigail weren't talking to each other. It was as if there was a big gap between the two of them.

Tiana and Archer tried their best to talk to them, but no one was willing to listen. After their fight, no one backed down. Abigail remained silent, and so was Terrence.

Terrence was hurt by how Abigail answered him. He was just worried, yet Abigail was unwilling to listen. Abigail didn't even trust him.

What's more, Abigail had been going out frequently since their fight. They would just see each other over dinner, and it was awkward as hell.

Of course, it was normal for siblings to fight, but so far, this was the worst fight he and Abigail had ever gotten.

The last information he knew was that another meeting would take place in 2 days. The school would try to talk to the guardians of the student and have them all sign a paper.

Once every document was finalized, all the students who were granted a scholarship would be sent to the city in just 2 days.

The process was so fast, making it more suspicious in Terrence's eyes.

Terrence was currently in their room. He was alone as Abigail decided to move to their parents' room after their fight.

Terrence thought that it was petty, but that gave him time and space to do what he needed to do.

For 3 days straight, Terrence was working hard to earn money. He continuously went outside and splurged on things. He was able to level up 1 more time and gain lots of EXP in just days.

He knew for sure that at this time, his parents and Abigail were already confused and concerned about where he had gotten his money.

Terrence sighed. He looked at his phone and called another number. It was the third call he made for today.

[Good afternoon, Sir. This is Grace from The WeLands. May I know why you called?]

"Good afternoon. I'm calling to ask how much is the monthly rent for your commercial land?" Terrence asked in a professional voice. He looked around and made sure that the door was locked.

[May I know for what town, Sir?]

The woman on the other line asked back.

"For Town Lourdes and its neighbouring towns," Terrence answered after naming the town they're currently in.

Terrence was expecting that the prices of the land in their town and their neighbouring town would be relatively low. However, after days of contacting different people and various sites on the internet, the lowest offer that he got was $3000 a month.

And the shop's location wasn't even good. It was hidden well from the masses. Terrence already knew that it would immediately fail if he ever opened up a store there.

[For Town Lordes, Sir, we have 2 commercial spaces available. The first one, which is located near the masses, costs about $6000 a month, while the second one, which is more hidden but still accessible, is priced at $4000.]

"…"

"Okay. I'm just inquiring." Terrence bid goodbye to the person on the phone.

Again, it was another failed call.

At this point, he would have no choice but to buy the random land available in his System's store.

Taking a deep breath, Terrence opened up his stats.

 =====

Terrence chuckled as he looked at his improvement in just 3 days. Who would have thought that he could reach his desired goal of acquiring $10,000 in just 3 days?

'Will my money return when I spend it in the shop?' Terrence wondered as he thought about it.

Since he was granted the ability to earn money every time he spent on something, he wanted to know if that would work when he bought something from his System, too

[Unfortunately, Host, that is not the same case with the [Shop] Tab. Once you spend money in the shop, it will be permanently subtracted from your balance, and you won't earn anything except for what you bought.]"Oh…" That made it hard for Terrence to decide what he should do first.

He wasn't willing to spend all his hard-earned money on some random land. He sighed. 'What should I do now?' he stated blankly at the holographic screen in front of him.

'System, what do you think I should do?' he asked mindlessly. Maybe it could offer him some advice.

[How about you try to use your Lottery Tickets first, Host?]

When Terrence heard the suggestion, he grinned. 'That's right!'

Since he already had points on his luck attributes, he might as well start to use his lottery tickets.

Whatever he earns here would be dedicated to the grocery store he planned to build. And since lottery tickets were easy to get, it wouldn't affect Terrence that much compared to if he would use his real money.

Terrence nodded. 'That's a smart suggestion. Thanks.'

[No problem, Host. You don't need to thank me.]

Terrence recalled how to use the lottery tickets. He was a little bit afraid to use it. He thought that what if his luck was that bad, that he would end up losing all of it?

That would be the worst case, if ever.

'Man up, Terrence." Terrence muttered before taking a deep breath.

"Lottery Tickets activated."

After what Terrence said, the same spinning wheel appeared on the screen in front of him.

'It seems like the prizes are still the same', he thought as he read through each of them.

He eagerly looked at the spinning wheel that appeared right before his eyes.

'I kinda miss this feeling,' Terrence thought of the same familiar feeling of thrill that he felt when he used this for the first time.

Terrence recalled how many Lottery Tickets he had.

'It was 7, right?' he unsurely asked himself.

'I just hoped that I would at least get something…' Terrence wished.
