Chapter 1: Prologue

Pallet Town, Kanto Region.

The infamous Pokémon professor and former Pokémon Champion of the Kanto Region, Samuel Oak, was currently conducting his research in his gigantic Pokémon lab.

Everything was peaceful in his lab and around it. All the Pokémon there were leading happy, healthy, and peaceful lives under the care of Professor Oak.

However, everything can't always be at peace for Samuel Oak, and soon enough, an apprentice of Professor Oak came running towards him.

"Professor!"

The professor, who was engrossed in his research, snapped out of it because of the voice, and he was a little annoyed. He turned to his lab assistant and asked, "What happened? What's with that face?"

Professor Oak asked his lab assistant, who had a troubled expression on his face and was panting. Oak noticed this and handed him a glass of water.

"Here, drink this and then speak," Oak said, but the lab assistant didn't take the water but tried to speak further. He said, "Professor, your son-"

Professor Oak, who was in middle age, only had a son with whom he didn't have a 'great' relationship. But he was still the father. He might not have shown concern about his son on his face due to his pride as a man, but deep down in his heart, Samuel Oak deeply cared for his son, and even a small concern about his son troubled him a lot.

Professor Oak tried to keep a stoic face as always, trying to hide his unstable condition. He calmly asked his assistant, "What about him?"

"Your son was returning to Pallet Town, but they had a severe accident on the way," the lab assistant said. Professor Oak felt as if the earth below his feet had just shaken to the core. He couldn't balance himself on his feet, and he fell down.

However, his lab assistant caught the middle-aged professor in his arms and said, "Professor, please maintain yourself. You can't fall weak right now."

The professor, who was already having a breakdown, could only maintain enough sanity to ask his assistant to take him to the hospital, which his assistant obliged to, and both researchers went straight to the hospital.

Professor Samuel Oak reached the hospital, but little did he know that he was already very late, and his son and daughter-in-law had already passed away.

"W-Where are they?" Professor Oak asked in a troubled voice, and he was going straight to the room where his assistant had told him his son was.

Professor Oak almost reached the room, but before he could enter, someone placed a hand on his shoulder to prevent him from entering the room.

"You've finally made enough time for your family, Mr. Professor," Professor Oak heard a female voice, and he slowly turned his head to see a middle-aged woman who had once been his wife and was the mother of his only son.

Other than being his ex-wife, this middle-aged woman was also a member of the Elite Four of the Kanto Region, and her name was Agatha.

The professor didn't spare her a look and just said with no emotion in his voice, "I don't have time for your nonsense, Agatha."

"I'm here for my family that you were once a part of, but you're not anymore. You can leave," Professor Oak said, but then he heard Agatha laugh instead.

But her laughter wasn't one of joy but one of joy and anguish at the same time, and she said, "Family? What family are you talking about, Samuel? There's nothing left in 'our' family anymore."

Agatha said as she slid open the door with her hand to show Oak the dead bodies of their only son and his wife.

Professor Oak was looking at the two lifeless bodies helplessly, while even Agatha couldn't keep her normal cold, stoic face and broke down, but Oak was just unable to express anything on his face.

He slowly but surely walked in and saw two lifeless bodies lying there, and nearby, there was also another person lying on a stretcher who looked very young based on their size.

Looking at that person made Oak feel even more anguish and pain, not just for his son but also for his grandson.

"Gary..."

Samuel Oak whispered his grandson's name, and he kept looking in his direction without being able to move a muscle. He suddenly noticed a small movement under the sheet where Gary was lying.

"Gary?"

Professor Oak's facial expressions changed as he looked at Gary move, and he ran towards him, removing the sheet. He saw Gary had his eyes slightly opened but was still very weak due to the impact of the accident.

Oak held Gary's hand, and he heard Gary softly whisper in an almost inaudible tone before he passed out.

"Grandpa..."

"Gary, I'm right here. Grandpa is here with you. You'll be fine. You're my strong grandson!"

Oak said, rubbing Gary's hand with his own to give him warmth, and then he turned towards the officials who soon called the doctors.

The doctor walked in and saw Gary was breathing once again. She was unable to comprehend what had happened with her medical knowledge because she had confirmed Gary to be dead, but he was somehow breathing once again.

"Miracle" was the only word that came to her mind, but she couldn't allow herself to be overwhelmed by it. It wasn't the time to be overwhelmed; it was the time for her to save a life, and she did.

Gary was out of danger. However, it would take a while before he woke up again, as he was very weak and young.

Mind you, Gary is only a couple of years old at the moment.

The doctors informed everyone about Gary's condition, and Oak couldn't hold back his tears anymore. He got a sense of feeling that he still had someone to hold dear.

Samuel Oak was determined not to make the same mistake again with Gary as he did with his son, which was not spending enough time with him. Professor Oak was determined to give Gary all the love and attention that his parents would have given him if they were there.

After a week of medical treatment, Gary finally woke up and saw Oak right there, waiting for him to wake up for a whole week without leaving the hospital.

Gary slowly looked in the professor's direction, and Professor Oak saw him waking up. He went towards him and embraced him in a hug.

"Oh, son, you've finally woken up," Professor Oak said as he rubbed his hand over Gary's head. Meanwhile, Gary just snuggled into his warm hug, even though something was running through his brain. For the moment, Gary just lived in the moment. Don't expect anything else from a two-year-old.

But is he actually two years old? Technically, would he still be considered a toddler when mentally he's 19?

Who knew that the grandson of the infamous Pokémon Professor Samuel Oak had another identity? That is, he is a person from 21st-century Earth. When he was on Earth, he was known as Gary too.

Gary was a 17-year-old teenager who was very fond of the Pokémon series and its games.

But just like the Gary Oak from the Pokémon world, the Gary from Earth also had a similar accident happen to him.

And somehow, both Gary's ended up merging into one new human being who had memories and characteristics of both of them combined.

Gary already had a brief knowledge about the Pokémon world from the 21st-century Earth, while merging with Gary Oak gave him the talent to make the best use of it in the future.

Gary, who was currently being hugged by his grandfather Professor Oak, broke the hug and looked up at his grandfather. "Grandpa, can we go home now?"

"Yes, sure, Gary. We'll go home right away once you're healthy," Professor Oak said, and Gary gave him a smile while he thought to himself, "Finally, I'll be out of this hospital. Man, this place seriously sucks ass."

"At least I'll be able to get some fresh air with Professor Oak... oh wait, I mean with Gramps."

Gary mentally smiled at his own thoughts while giving his new grandfather a hug.

And soon enough Gary was discharged from the hospital and Professor Oak took Gary with him to his house where Oak

had to parent a 17 year old teenager by himself now.

It was gonna be a hell of a job for the Ex-Champ.
