Chapter 16: The War Starts
It's 1 o'clock at night currently and I am in my bedroom here with Sakura. She is fast asleep right next to me. Of course there is another occupant in this room right now but she is in a dematerialized state right now so as to not disturb us.
She has started to respect me for some reason, maybe Sakura has something to do with that but that's fine with me. After all her respecting is not detrimental to me at all. I also gave her a Mystic Eye Killer to wear, so she doesn't need to cover her eyes up anymore. Maybe that's it, who knows?
Anyway, six Servants have already been summoned but I am just waiting for the seventh to appear before I wrap this stuff up. Illyasviel should know the place since she is connected to the Grail as it's key.
In the original timeline, Sakura would have been able to do that too but since I purified the Grail fragments from her body it's not possible for her. It's a dangerous thing, so I suppose it's good that it's not Sakura.
As for any potential problems for me, there are none but the Assassin seems to be a bit troublesome this time. It's not that it's powerful or something, I mean it might be powerful but the problem is that we can't detect him we know its been summoned but that's all. My bet is that it is Kirei's Servant, since he is the only one who comes to mind for it.
I know for a fact that he didn't kill Bazette in this timeline after all. She is quite busy, getting the lay of the land and stuff with Lancer. Whatever, I don't really care much about them, since they aren't a threat at all.
Speaking of which, Caster has exceeded my expectations of her. Honestly, while I am much more powerful at magecraft she is much more detail oriented than me, I suppose that comes from real experience.
While I am thinking all these random thoughts, there's a sudden knock on the door and it opens after that with Caster coming inside.
Rider materializes between us, as if shielding us.
"Shinji-sama it finally happened, I think it's time. Also, Rider why are you blocking me from my Master?"
Rider doesn't respond to her. Sakura doesn't wake up surprisingly from this commotion. Or maybe she is just faking it? Honestly I have no idea, but she is going to be safe so it's fine.
I get up from the bed and speak to Caster.
"Caster, let's talk outside. Rider, protect Sakura while I am gone."
"You don't need to tell me that Shinji-sama."
Rider responds to me in a monotone voice and then dematerializes. Caster and I then leave the room and head towards my and Caster's shared workshop.
"I don't like that woman Master. Why do I feel like you favor treat that woman better than me, your own Servant?"
"Do you really want to ask that question Medea?"
"Fair enough but I just hope you trust me a bit more, Shinji-sama."
"Enough, let's talk about the important stuff. So where is it?"
"It's just as you suspected, Saber was summoned by that boy."
Just as I suspected huh. I just had a feeling that he might still get dragged into this even though I took Avalon from him. I wonder which Heroic Spirit he summoned now.
"Caster, let's go and finish this Holy Grail War."
"As you wish, my Master."
We then teleport from my corridor straight to the yard in the Emiya compound.
As soon as I enter that place, I could see a quick flash of moonlight and sword swung towards my neck. I calmly stop it by holding it between my fingers.
"Good reflexes boy! Now can you let go of my sword?"
Says the energetic young man I know so well. It's Shirou who swung the sword. But his way of speaking is quite different.
"First tell me, what happened to Shirou? And who are you?"
"I see, so you know Master. Well something weird happened during the summoning and I got summoned in his body. I'm Saber class Servant, nice to meet you. I will hand the control back to Master since he seems to want to talk with you."
"Hmm..."
I wait for him to do just that, but Caster beside me seems to have an interesting expression on her face. Anyway, a Servant possessing a human huh. Is this happening because I gave him that thing?
"Shinji, what's going on? What is this Holy Grail stuff that this old man talking about?"
"Oh well..."
I then explain the basics of Holy Grail War to him. But I also explain to him that it's corrupted so that he doesn't accidentally desire it. So I tell him my desire to destroy.
"All right, count me in. I'll help in any way I can, the old man is also in agreement."
"Oh by the way Shirou, who is this old man?"
I ask him.
"Eh? Don't you already know?"
He asks me with confusion and that confirms everything for me. Caster is quite confused by this exchange but then makes a face like she understands everything and gives me a knowing smile. I don't know what she understood from that, nor do I actually care.
"I understand. Then let's go and find the one who has a connection to that place."
"Right now?"
Shirou asks me and I nod at him. I then form a portal that leads to outskirts of the city that lead to a forest. The place where Illyasviel is currently. Just before entering the forest.
We come out face to face with a giant who has a big sword like hunk of metal in his hands. And a small silver haired girl, whose beauty is inhuman.
She seems a bit stunned seeing us appear so suddenly in front of her but then she smiles and greets us.
"We meet again, Onii-chan. And good evening to you, Matou Shinji. My name is Illyasviel von Einbern, and I am the Master of Berserker."
"You know me?"
"Of course. You are the ideal that Einzberns have been yearning for the last 1000 years."
Wow, so she knows about that? But then, many people should know about it. I really hope that those troublesome existences didn't notice me. After all I have no interest in dealing with them.
"Then there's no real problem right? I will fix the defects in your body and in exchange you help me with Heaven's Feel."
"Not so fast, Shinji. I have to deal with some business with Onii-chan before that."
And she turns towards Shirou after saying that.
"You...you are the girl from that time."
"Indeed, I will now punish you in place of Kiritsugu. Fight him Berserker!"
Now normally, I wouldn't interfere in this because Shirou also has a strong Servant but I have a bad feeling that something unexpected is about to happen, so I interrupt Berserker and Shirou's fight by stopping Berserker's sword with my bare hand.
And while it was a cool idea, the ground beneath me is dented because of it.
Illyasviel makes a surprised expression at this and then makes an annoyed face and starts speaking. Or she would have if she wasn't interrupted by someone.
As soon as I stopped Berserker's sword, he released it and ran back towards Illyasviel.
And then I realize why he did that in the next fraction of a second.
A dark figure with a sinister atmosphere is just a few meters behind Illyasviel attacks her with a misshapen hand while shouting-
"Zabaniya!"
