Chapter 1: 1.Starting the Paid Service (1)
I know I shouldn't say something like this, but I really want to die... That's right, I want my boring life to end. You might be wondering why would 17 years old boy thinking something like this, and before you say anything, I'm not in one of those edgy phases or whatever... Maybe if you learn a bit about my life, you will understand why I have these kinds of thoughts. Let see... I was left at the front door of an orphanage, and since then I have lived and been raised there. I was left with no name, just a piece of clothing covering my body. Well, at least that's what father said. I'm pretty much mediocre at studying, so I'm not really looking to get into college, but I need a degree if I want to get a decent job. The only thing I'm good at is fighting... For some reason, I'm really good at it, I didn't even train or something like that, so maybe I can get it. Boxing, MMA, or just plain street fighting—even if I'm not really fond of it, it's got a much bigger chance to make money... Well, how about it? Did you understand why I have thought like that, or do you still think it sounds stupid? Not that I blame you, though I also thought it was stupid. I don't really want to die... I just want my life to have a meaning, not just exist.
"Haa..."
I think the kid in front of me has a more interesting life. In this loud subway, this kid is only focused on the insect that he caught, while the guy next to me is reading some sort of fantasy novel? Well, it looks like a good one, seeing how engrossed he is. It would be interesting if I could live in a fantasy novel with powers and stuff like that.
The guy next to me seems to be having a conversation with the girl that stands in front of him, as she now sits on the vacant seat next to him. He said that "a Dokja has a Dokja's life" But I think the girl missed the tone of his words, seeing her reply with, "Then, I suppose I have my own life as well—a Sangah's life." I have to fake a cough to hide my laugh. Thankfully, they didn't hear it.
You really met a bunch of different kinds of people on public transportation... I guess everyone has their own way of life, rather than dreaming of something impossible, it's better to quickly face your reality. Boxing doesn't sound that bad as long as I don't get hit too much.
The cabin got darker as the subway train went through another tunnel.... or so I thought. My body hit the barrier on my right because the train suddenly tried to stop. The subway let out a loud metallic sound because of the sudden break, it took more than a few seconds for the train to finally stop. Everyone who stands up is also being thrown all over the place because of it.
"Ow..." I rub my shoulder that hit the barrier, trying to soothe the pain.
What the hell!?
In the dark, I see some people turning on their flashlights using their phones.
"W-What is going on?"
"Don't worry. It isn't a big deal."
The guy next to me tried to surprise the girl next to him.
"Is that so?"
"Yes, it is probably a disturbance from a suicide. The engineer will soon
make an announcement."
As soon as he said that, I heard the engineer's announcement.
"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE. P-PLEASE, EVACUATE... EVACUATE...!"
"What?" I look at the speaker, trying to grasp what he just said.
Evacuate? What do you mean?
