"Why does this time of year have to be so busy!?" Beatrice shouted as she hung the washing up on the lines while I sat on a stool, making her a flower headband to cheer her up.

"Is it busy?" I asked.

"Yes. As soon as Eleanora's ball is over, we all have a day to rest before we have to start with the preparations for the crown prince's ball. The two events are big events and they're happening only weeks apart from each other,"

"What!? It's Val's birthday!?" Why in the bloody world am I only learning of this now!?

"Yes. His birthday is on the 27th... so 2 weeks from now but the ball for his birthday will be held a day after his birthday, on the 28th. You didn't know?" I shook my head at her with a pout and she chuckled at me, shaking her head.

"I have to get him something. What do you get a man that already has everything?" I thought aloud and Beatrice hummed, trying to help me come up with something.

"Something handmade. A cake?"
