"Huh…Finally at the top…ha…ha…
On the burning Island under the dark sky, from the deep ravine under the bridge climbed up a burly figure with bruises on his body and a huge charred wound on his chest.
Lying on the ground, Boris took deep breaths really tired, as he had climbed up on a steep path especially when he was injured.
Falling from the bridge injured him more as well, he really was having a rough time lately.
"Huh... what the...?"
After resting for a while, Boris picked the golden axe near him and stood up, ready to enter the town just a little ahead but his eyes widened seeing everything burning, also spotting numerous corpses lying around.
"Don't tell me…?"
Swish!
Suddenly Boris seemed to have guessed something, as without caring for his injury he rushed towards the town at an inhuman speed.
"As expected…Damn you Kaido!!"
In the town, Boris found a lot of his wanted posters scattered around immediately guessing what had happened, searching for him the underlings of Kaido arrived on this Island when he had fallen in the ravine, Boris cursing with immense guilt and hatred in his eyes.
No matter what, the one responsible for the destruction of this Island was him, the people of this Island got killed bcz of his presence.
"Rox!!!"
"Huh…a survivor…?"
Swish!!
But at this moment, a loud shout fell in the ears of Boris who stood silent amid the burning houses, taking his attention, Boris immediately rushing towards the direction of the voice.
"Rox…where are you!!!?"
Soon Boris found the last survivor on the Island, a woman running around with a haggard look on her face, tears streaming down both her eyes, a huge cut wound on her stomach from which blood rinsed down.
The woman ran from one house to house, without caring for the burning fire picking rubble and destroyed stuff like looking for something, her steps getting weaker and weaker, but the voice calling the name staying strong.
Boris watching the scene seemed to have gone in a state of stillness, he had watched a lot of cruel sights but this sight before him, ached his heart like that one time when he lost his sister.
Just like him this woman ignoring the pain and everything was madly searching for someone close, like once he had done everything just to save Harumi but all in vain.
"Thud!"
"Rox… ha…just where did you go!!!!?"
Finally, the woman couldn't hold anymore, falling on the ground yet her cry for the person she had been looking for didn't die down, wailing out in a pitiful voice.
"You are dying!"
At this moment, Boris appeared before the woman on the ground, speaking to her calmly, eyes full of emotion on her.
…. Rox…where are you!!?"
The appearance of Boris didn't seem to have noticed by Mabel or it was ignored completely, the former crying out again.
"You are dying…tell me who are you looking for, I'll find him, maybe that way I can atone for this!"
Spoke Boris to Mabel again, not bothered by her ignoring him or not noticing him, guilt written all over his face.
But the response was same as before, Mabel in a world of her own ignoring Boris completely.
"I said you are dying woman!!!!, if you don't trust me, trust these eyes instead and tell me who are you looking for!!!"
Yelled Boris with intense pain in his voice, the guilt nearly killing him and this woman reminded him so much of him in the past, he failed once, he didn't want to fail again.
….
The words of Boris finally seemed to have affected Mabel, eyes focusing on the former, a silence in the air, just a staring competition.
"Harumi!!"
"I'm sorry Grandma!!"
In those eyes, Mabel find a person even more troubled than her, his whole life devoid of any happiness. {AN: - Shounen Power to understand through eyes, don't ask me}
"Rox…
"Connor D. Rox…Tell him to live freely…and follow his dream...and hand him this as well…"
Saying that, Mabel exhausting her full strength removed the locket around her neck, stretching it towards Boris, the later taking it with a shocked face, the hands of Mabel losing their strength after that.
"I hope you will be my end; a D. is bound to shine!"
Soon, in a huge pit created by Boris, hundreds of graves were built, Boris placing his bounty order near the grave of Mabel, speaking to himself.
Soon Boris left the Island as he couldn't stay here for long, Marines will sooner or later arrive here, he didn't want to be captured and taken away, before finding that kid.
Soon after Boris left, a kid who looked 10 appeared on the Island, devastated after seeing the sight.
