Chapter 1: Prologue

Hunter Ethaneo is an ordinary earthing living on this blue planet who is about to turn 50 years old. If there is any accentuating characteristic about him , it will be that despite entering the threshold of old age , he is very enthusiastic about Shonen manga and animes. He likes to follow them due to their adventurous themes and the totally different world and worldview they present.
In fact he himself is fairly adventurous in his real life. His love for hiking , mountaineering and adventure sports stated when his father took him to The Zion Narrows at the Zion National Park for hiking on his 17th birthday. He has visited many famous hiking and mountaineering locations throughout his entire life ever since.
For his 50th birthday he has decided to challenge the Annapurna in Nepal. Although it only has an elevation of 8091m , which is the 10th highest peak in the world , it is one of the most hardest climb on Earth with a near 40% summit fatality rate due to the constant threat of storms and avalanches.
On this day Hunter is preparing for the climb as he checks his mountaineering gear for any faults. According to his estimate this climb would take about 55-60 days to complete. He has packed appropriate amount of food and oxygen cylinder to last him on this journey. He then carefully takes out a pitch black stone from his backpack and puts it in the inside pocket of his jacket. This is his lucky stone which he has been carrying with him for nearly 25 years and has never forgotten it while going on his adventures.
There is special story behind how he acquired the black stone. He was visiting the Chicxulub carter in Mexico for his 25th birthday. It is the second largest confirmed impact crater on Earth , but its actual significance comes from the fact that nearly 66 million years ago an asteroid fell at this place and it was responsible for a mass extinction of nearly 75% of plant and animal species on Earth including all non-avian dinosaurs.
While climbing down a ledge near the inner ring of the crater , he slipped down on a boulder embedded on the ledge and fell on a side ring below it. There he found a pitch black darkness attracting him at a partially exposed spot on the ground. After he dug up at the spot he came across a fist size black stone , which seemed to absorb light so strongly that even the air around it seemed a little gloomy. The stone itself was pitch black and extremely gloomy unlike the shiny black of obsidian.
He was attracted to this stone and felt a connection with it , he also considered it his luck to come across the stone as he only got some scratches and bruises from the fall of nearly a 40m ,when he could have easily broken multiple bones with his life in danger. Hence he has made sure to keep the stone on him when going on his adventures. He also had a weird but firm belief inside that the stone must have come from the outer space waiting for him their for the past 66 million years.
On this day Hunter is preparing for his 47th day climb as he has covered nearly 80% of the terrain and has only the last 20% of the climbing left. But this is also the most hardest part as the temperature is dropping to a lower and lower value below the freezing point really fast with the altitude along with the winds becoming stronger and stronger. The terrain itself requires for a nearly flat climb from here on. Although Hunter is in a much better shape than an average 50 year old, but age has started catching up to him as well. For this climb he really does have to push his body and will to the limit.
These days the winds are a little erratic and there is also occasional snowfall often resulting in a blizzard which has made the climbing condition much worse than expected. Hunter too is having a bad premonition rising in his heart which is getting stronger as the day passes by , but he doesn't want to stop his climb as he is already close to the summit. During the afternoon the winds suddenly got stronger with a heavy snowfall accompanying it. As it is too difficult to keep climbing , Hunter decided to temporarily rest below an overhanging ledge.
What he didn't expect is that today the lady luck seems to have abandoned him. Due to the heavy blizzard resulting in a near zero visibility , he is not able to see that at some rise above the ledge he took shelter under, there is an avalanche starting which got heavier and with a huge momentum as it neared the ledge, so its edge broke off and is carried forward with the snow.
The avalanche hit the place where Hunter is resting with a heavy force overthrowing and burying him under heavy snow and debris. His body cable broke off and even his oxygen cylinder was thrown off as the avalanche passed by. He is heavily injured and is unable to breath properly , his fingers are shakily rubbing the black stone which he took out sometime earlier because he has developed a habit to rub his fingers on the black stone to calm himself down whenever in panic.
His consciousness slowly fades away as his fingers stop moving. It is at this time that something magical and unexpected happens. The pitch black stone in his grip seems to emit a darkness which devours him and slowly fades away and disappears along with his soul.
