Chapter 20: First Crew Member
As Jack entered Makino's Bar, Makino herself was scrubbing some tables. "Hello Makino. I hope you are doing well." Jack said warmly with a big smile on his face. When Makino heard the familiar voice she snapped her head up to look at the man in question before shouting, "YOU?!! I'm glad you're safe, we were worried that those bandits got to you after you left. Anyway please have a seat." Jack was happy to see that she worried about him, and showed it as he took a seat at a table with the mayor. "I'm touched that you were worried about me Makino, but I assure you that they could do no real harm to me" Jack said, his smile not leaving his face. "What can I get for you two today?" Makino asked with a notepad and pencil in her hands. "Well for starters the mayor here said he would buy me a drink, so lets make it the best drink ya got. I would also really enjoy a nice big lunch, whatever you would recommend will be great. Please and thank you mam?" Jack said as he glanced at Mayor Woop. "You youngsters now days are getting bold. Yeah I'll take the same please Makino." Woop said politely.
After taking their orders, Makino went to the bar counter and brought them each a mug filled with Rum, then went into the kitchen to preapare the food. Jack and Woop made small talk until she returned with three meals on a tray. "I hope you don't mind if I join you?" Makino asked. "Of course, please have a seat" Jack said as he got to his feet and pulled the chair out for her. "My aren't you a gentleman Mr.-..." Makino paused her words before continuing, "You know I don't think you said your name before." Jack smirked at her as he sat back down in his own chair, "That might be because you have never asked before" He said playfully. Makino and Woop both gave him expressions that screamed "YOU LEFT BEFORE WE COULD ASK!!!." Looking towards them he laughed dryly before taking a drink of his Rum. "My name is Captain Jack Sparrow!" Jack said proudly, before taking another sip of his drink. "I have gotta say, the alcohol here ("Here" being this world) is exceptional. Could I also get a few crates of this stuff please Makino?" Jack asked hapily. Makino and Mayor Woop just smiled at the young man before them. "Why is it Captain? Are you a pirate Captian or something?" Mayor Woop asked. At the Mayor's words, Jack lost his smile and his tone turned grim before speaking, "No, I really dislike pirates. They rape and plunder, kill and torture all for their own amusement. I have heard of some in the world that are solely in it for the adventure, and that they are only branded as pirates or criminals because they go against the World Government, but I will not become one. I don't have a crew yet, but when I do, we will set out to change the world for the better."
Makino and Mayor Woop seemed to look Jack over again after his speech. They could tell that he meant everything he said, and that he would go out to change the world. "So will you be joining the Marines then?" Mayor Woop asked after a short while. "Ha! The marines aren't much better than pirates. No I will not join them. I think Soldier of the People would be a better way to describe it than pirate or marine" Jack said darkly at first, then ended his words with a proud look on his face. "Based on you actions the other day, that title does seem to suit you" Makino said with a big smile. At her words Jack couldn't help but bring the smile back to his face. 'She's just too fucking positive to not smile at!!' Jack was thinking as he continued to eat his food. "So what are you gonna do now?" Mayor Woop asked once they were done eating their food. Jack pondered for a second before replying, "I will head to the neighboring islands and see what they are like, then I will probably come back here for a week or two depending on how certain things happen. I want to head to the other Blues before making my way to the Grandeline, but I don't know as of yet if I will." The Mayor just nodded at his words. "So when are you setting off?" Makino asked curiously. Jack turned to her and gave her a big smile before saying, "Just as soon as you can get all those drinks prepared." Makino and Woop both let out a small laugh at his words before Makino went into her storage room, to get everything.
About an hour later they had all walked down to the docks, Jack having already stored the crates of alcohol into his inventory. "So wheres your ship?" Mayor Woop asked curiously. Jack didn't answer, instead he walked over to the edge of the docks and held out his arm. A second later a decent sized little ship appeared out of nowhere. The facial expressions on Makino and Mayor Woop were both priceless, and Jack couldn't help himself when he burst out laughing. "Y-you HAHA know I'm a Devil Fruit user. HAHA I don't know why you keep being surprised at this?!" Jack managed to get out through his laughter. If he could have gotten the image of their reactions he would be able to explain it better. 'I never thought someone could open their jaws so much' Jack thought inwardly. "Anyway you all keep safe!" Jack said as he jumped aboard the ship. As it started to make its way from the dock, Jack couldn't help but shout, "YOU WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER THIS AS THE DAY THAT YOU MET THE GREAT CAPTAIN JACK SPARROW!!" After shouting out to them, Jack thought internally 'Nailed It!!' Mayor Woop let out a small laugh while Makino just rolled her eyes and started walking back to her bar. 'Maybe they will meet in the Grandeline' She thought with a smile on her face.
Jack was looking at his map and a certain little island caught his attention. "Shells Town" He muttered. 'Kuro should have already faked his death at this point, so Morgan should be stationed there. May as well go and clean house' Jack thought as he turned his ship towards Shells Town. Using his Flames he acted as a speed booster for the ship, and going at that speed, the few days got turned into a 2 hour trip. When he saw the island come into view he let out a small chuckle 'I could probably travel the other Blues in record time if I actually end up going there' he thought happily. Getting to the docks, he grew a little concerned. After all there was no one here that he could see. Using his Haki he sensed many people inside their homes, but for the most part everyone on the island was gathered at the marine base. He started making his way towards the marine base after storing his ship because he wanted to know what kind of sick twisted shit Morgan was trying to pull this time. As he got closer, with his Haki he noticed their were many figures inside the marine crucifixion yard tied to crosses, causing him to pick up his pace. It took only a few seconds to get there and jump over the wall, ready to beat the daylights out of the marines, but what he saw made him pause in his tracks. The people that were tied to the crosses were the marine soldiers, and the people watching it all were the civilians of the town. In the middle of all the tied soldiers, there was an ugly looking blonde teenager with a stupid looking haircut wearing a purple suit. 'Gotta be Morgan's kid Helmeppo' Jack thought. Looking around he found Morgan's dead body next to the wall, along with a few other marine corpses. 'Okay what the fuck is going on here?!!!' Jack shouted in confusion inside his head.
Jack walked over to the crowd of onlookers, but before he could say anything, a blonde man wearing a black shirt, dark blue pants and decked out with two swords on his back, a few dozen small throwing knives along his chest, and two pistols on his hips walked out from the crowd. "Cataclysm!!" The blonde man shouted. 'Who the fuck is he?!!' Jack thought, confusion written all over his face. The blonde man seeing Jack's expression just gave a laugh. "Haha I didn't think you'd remember me, its been awhile. I'm Luke Strous. You saved my life awhile back from the marines" Luke said with a smile. When Jack heard his words he smiled right back. He did remember Luke, and he wasn't a bad man from what he knew. "So Luke... What exactly is going on here?" Jack asked curiously.
Luke looked around to the tied up soldiers, then back to the civillians then back to Jack before replying, "Well it all started this morning when I got into town. I was walking around and stopped at a food stall for some breakfast when that little blonde retard there, (Points to Helmeppo) started trashing the place with a dog. The marines with him wouldn't let anyone get near him, so I went over beat some sense into them. The little fucker ran back to his father and told him that I was causing problems and saying his father was worthless, and I had never even heard of his father before. Anyway the big brute over there (Points to Morgan's corpse) came to find me with group of soldiers to disipline me. They said they were going to tie me up to these crosses here in the yard and let me suffer for a few days before executing me. I took offense to that and killed a few of them. Then I came here and beat everyone unconcious, now I'm doing to them what they do to others." After listening to Luke's story Jack just nodded his head. 'Makes perfect sense considering how they all are' Jack thought before looking towards the civillians. He didn't even need to ask and there were already people nodding their heads confirming Luke's story. "Well ain't that just grande. Here I was coming to get rid of Morgan and you do it for me, pretty fuckin awesome dude." Jack praised Luke.
When Luke heard the words of praise coming from the man who had saved his life, he was ecstatic. 'This is my chance!!' Luke thought excitedly. "What are your plans after this?" Luke asked, trying to not sound like a giddy little school girl. "Well... There is one other place I gotta go to, then it's hang around East Blue for a few weeks. After that I think I'll hit the other Blues before making my way to the Grandeline. Why do ya ask?" Jack spoke, already having an idea of what Luke was gonna ask. "Can I join you? I know what you did the other day, it couldn't have been anyone but you. I fully support what you're doing and would like to follow by your side" Luke asked, not showing any fear of what was to come. 'This guy's smart. I got no idea how he came to the conclusion that it was me in Goa Kingdom, but it shows that he's not completely stupid. 'Jack thought as he stared at Luke. "You will have to get stronger, and I'll put you through hell you can be sure. I will tell you this now, I don't just want people that follow orders, I want people that can stand next to me as I face the world. Do you except this?" Jack asked seriously. Luke didn't even hesitate when he shouted, "Yes Captain!!" Jack grinned at Luke, who in turn grinned back. 'I finally got a crew member!!' Jack thought excitedly. Luke was also shouting excitedly in his mind, 'I will finally stand with you!!' The citizens had no idea what the hell was going on right now. These two people were insane in their eyes.
Luke and Jack were talking with each other when one of the civillians walked over really slowly. "U-um excuse me sirs, b-but what is it you plan to do with them?" He nervously pointed to the tied up marines. Before Luke could say anyting Jack stepped forward and shouted for all to hear. "They will stay like that for the remainder of the day as their punishment for what they have done to the people. Then I will let you all decide if they are worthy to live or die. You all were the ones that suffered beneath them, it would only be fair. Should you choose to let them live, they will continue to act in the defense of this island, and if they step outside their duties they will be hunted and executed. Leave them here, but tonight gather everyone here and You tell me who you belive should die and why" The people visibly calmed at his words, as they believed these two monsters would just kill them all. The civillian that had spoken before started speaking again before Jack could say or do anything else. "There is no need for a trial sir. They never killed or hurt any of us, they just didn't do their jobs to protect. We have already discussed amongst ourselves as this young man here was punishing them for us. We were going to ask him not to kill anyone of them after he killed Morgan. Although Helmeppo there definately will be punished by us and work off the damages for sure. If that would be okay with you sirs?" The man spoke, not as scared as before, but still respectfully. Jack turned his head to Luke who just gave him a nod, then turned back to the people. "Very well. Tonight I will release them and tell them to watch themselves. There will be no need to gather here. I will also let you know that I will be coming back here in the weeks to come to check on how they are doing their jobs. You may remind them that they walk a thin line" Jack said coldly before turning and walking back towards the town, Luke following at his side.
As the two walked on a thought occured to Jack, "Hey Luke, how did you manage to kill and subdue the marines here? I know they aren't particularly stong, but I didn't know that you were this formidible?" Jack voiced his thoughts aloud. As Luke heard his words he smirked before saying, "After that day when you set us free, we went back home, but I had no one. When I was taken the marines killed my mother and father on the orders of the world noble. My two older brothers were killed as well and my little sister killed herself when they came for her. I find myself being driven to get stronger by any means nesessary. I have trained non-stop since then, and have actually found a sword master to give me some pointers. I practiced with the gun, but I will admit I am far better with the sword. I will become so strong the World Government will fear my name." After Luke's depressing little tale, he and Jack walked in silence for a bit more before Jack decided that he would make sure Luke was the strongest, next to him of course. "Throughout our journey I will train you in everything I know. We will conquer this world and rid it of all the scum we can find. When the Government hears of our approach, they will tremble in fear" Jack declared arrogantly. Luke raised his fist to the air and agreed with his captain.
"By the way, my name is Jack D. Sparrow, but just call me Jack. Although there will be times when you might need to address me as Prime. You will know when because I'll be wearing a skull mask" Jack said nonchalantly. "Alright. Wait, why did you tell me your name was Cataclysm then?" Luke asked confused. "*Sigh* Because I was trying to sound cool. I plan on causing cataclysmic events that will shake the world, and thought hey, this name works. I need the second name for now so that I can walk freely and do what I want, while using the mask to go against the world. It wasn't until later that I realised how uncool and long Cataclysm was. Prime works because its meaning basically is "main, or best quality". I feel like I will be the main cause of the world governments downfall and make wherever I go the best quality of what it can be. That and "Prime" sounds cooler than "Cataclysm". Jack said tiredly. Luke continued to stare at his new captain with a blank stare. "Seriously...?" Luke said almost not believing him. "HEY!! Don't you look at me in that tone of voice!! I can call myself whatever I want. Now lets go get some food!!" Jack said before picking up his pace to the nearest restraunt. 'People and their fucking opinions' Jack thought sourly as they made it into a building that had delicious smells coming from it.

GrimsReaper I don't know if I wrote my release schedule on the fan-fic version, but I post one chapter a day throughout the week, but no chapters on saturday and sunday. Anyway I hope you enjoy the chapter
