Chapter 3: Ch 3 : Tamarisk

Rain sneezed when he was walking down the street of the new town he was living in.

It had been almost a month, and Rain had now been somewhat grown accustomed to the One Piece world.

The town that he had been living in now was Tamarisk city, the place where the strawhats gave their farewell to Vivi.

It had been a pretty fateful encounter, but Rain was now working on the shop of the woman that he had bumped into before.

The woman took a lot of interest in Rain after Rain told him that he was not from here, and was stranded in Alabasta because of a shipwreck.

The two quickly connected, and when Rain told her that he did not have any money or living place, the woman offered Rain a job as a shopkeeper in her shop.

The pay was pretty decent, and Rain had a lot of free time during the night, where Rain usually used to train his body.

Rain perfectly knew that even though his Kamui Kamui no Mi was strong, the capabilities of Kamui Kamui no Mi were still limited by his physical abilities, and for that, he needed to continuously temper his body to fully utilize the power of Kamui Kamui no Mi.

In the shop that Rain worked, he worked very diligently.

Attending to the customer's need, telling them some recommendation or even chat with them to make them feel relax during the shopping.

The true essence of a modern person had clearly been displayed here, and it made the woman feel that hiring Rain in the first place was the right choice.

Just with his service alone, Rain was able to magnify the sales by 30% in his first month, and it was more than enough to cover Rain's salary.

Still, all good times have an ending, and so was Rain's time as a shop clerk.

Rain saw the newspaper yesterday and saw the news about straw hat Luffy, which means that it wouldn't be long until Luffy eventually reached Alabasta.

Rain waited for the night to come, and before the closing of the shop, he walked toward the direction of the woman.

"Lucy, I will be leaving soon..."

Rain said to the woman who had given him the job when he was penniless and didn't know where to stay.

The atmosphere turned silent when Rain said those words, but in the end, the woman could only sigh as she knew this moment would eventually come.

From the first time she met Rain, she knew that Rain wouldn't stay here for so long as he was destined for something greater. However, she never expected that the time would come so fast.

She turned to him after locking the door of the shop.

"Did you finish moving the newly arrived item?"

"Yes. All of them, there." Replied Rain, avoiding the gazes of the woman.

Even though the two had only been acquainted for less than a month, Rain still felt pretty bad to leave just like this.

The woman saw Rain was avoiding her gaze, and a small chuckle was let out from her mouth.

"Silly boy, I have long known that this moment will come. You don't need to feel bad for me. Just remember to visit me from time to time!"

The woman's words had somehow relieved the atmosphere a bit.

Rain sighed a relief as he looked toward the eyes of the woman, which seemed very calm even on the brink of a farewell.

"Here, your first payment. I have given you some bonus" she gave him a wink.

Rain was very touched by this simple gesture of the woman.

He was about to say thank you, but the woman stopped him.

"No need to be polite with me, Rain. I just want you to remember that if one day you feel lost and have no place to come back to, remember that your arrival will always be welcomed here!"

The two ended the night with a hug which Rain said farewell to the woman who had been helping him for the past month, and after that, the two said goodbye to each other.

It might just be a fleeting moment in Rain's long journey. However, the woman's words and kindness had been embedded deep in Rain's heart, and Rain would not forget her no matter what.

Rain went back to his residence to pack up a few things.

Since he was new here, there was not a long of things to pack up. Rain just put some clothes and supplies into his bag, and then he was ready to go.

The climate in Alabasta in the afternoon was just way too hot, so after some time of pondering, Rain decided that he would start his journey during the night.

Rain then walked to the outer side of the town. He was now full of confidence.

He looked at the city where he had stayed for almost a month and said his farewell.

"Goodbye Tamarisk, and Katorea, here I come!"
