Chapter 17: Part four - Straw Hat Pirates? 5/8

The Marines base greeted them extremely unfriendly. Zoro, Johnny and Yosaku belatedly figured out that to take and report to the marines on a ship sailing under the pirate flag is a bad idea ... In general, the whole trio immediately understood what their captain was so happy about when he agreed to sail to the base, and what exactly they were referring to his words about "soon fun." Naturally, it did not even occur to him that he needed to warn his family. Although, which is even more likely, the thought came to him, but he did not consider it necessary to voice it. Why? Because it's more fun! When will he get the chance to come under fire from an entire Marine Base? Definitely not to be missed! That was Luffy. Most of the time everybody just wanted to kill him.

The next ten minutes, for Zoro, Johnny and Yosaku, were pretty tense. The base, although it looked very small, but the cannonballs poured onto the ship in such quantities that one could think that it was raining from them. Nor did Luffy make it any easier, not lifting a finger to protect the ship, but vowing to rip off all the guys' heads if they missed a single attack. Fortunately for the three, when the ship came close enough to the pier, the shelling stopped, so they were able to moor without any problems. And as soon as they did it, about a hundred soldiers rushed to the pier at once. Led by a gallant lieutenant, the sailors, as Luffy called them from time to time, - belligerently shaking the katanas taken out of their scabbard, they ran aboard the ship, along the ladder that was prudently lowered for them.

However, as soon as the marines were on board, as if all their belligerence was blown away by the wind. What can be done? A deck filled with blood and littered with corpses has a similar effect on people, especially if they have never seen anything like it before. East Blue is the safest sea in existence. Most of the Marines here have never really smelled gunpowder. How can a battle be called a battle if there are at least three Marine ships per pirate ship, and at least thirty Marines per pirate? And it would be fine if the pirates were stronger, but no! The overwhelming majority of pirate crews plowing the waters of the East Blue were noticeably losing strength, skill, and training to the systematically trained Marines.

In general, no matter who and what is said there, the East Blue is really the "weakest" sea of all. So even Nami was not surprised when a good half of the crowd that had run up to the ship hung overboard together and emptied their stomachs in perfect sync. Some of the remaining ones clearly wanted to join their brothers in arms, but still managed to gather strength and overpower themselves. There were those who did not even raise an eyebrow at the sight of corpses and blood. The lieutenant stood out especially among such imperturbable, which was immediately noted by all family members. Despite his unremarkable appearance - an absolutely average appearance, you will not remember this, even if you really want to - the man behaved as any real marine was supposed to behave. The lieutenant's tenacious gaze, practically not lingering on the corpses, immediately switched to the living, as the only ones who are capable of harming him and his people.

Nami, cross-legged, sat on her bag of money and, resting her chin on her fist, contemptuously watched the marines. She, after everything that happened in her life, had long ago lost respect for the Marines, so now she did not even try to hide her attitude towards soldiers, especially such soldiers. Not far from her, Johnny, leaning on the side of the ship, watched the frightened marines with a condescending look. Although his condescending gaze was quite successfully concealed by the sunglasses he was wearing. Sitting next to him, Yosaku sipped an expensive cigar, leaning his back on the side and closing his eyes in pleasure, he completely ignored the soldiers. Zoro, seated on the steps of the stairs leading to the bow of the ship, drank wine straight from the bottle, but, unlike Yosaku, watched the Marines with interest.

- Yo! - greeted Luffy, before the lieutenant could make a final verdict on what he sees. - You didn't welcome us very well, lieutenant. The Marines have never heard of hospitality at all, or what? By the way, because of your cannonballs, Zoro almost broke his bottle of wine, can you imagine what would happen if he did break it? I see from your face that you have no idea, but meanwhile, we would have had to look for another base of the Marines, because on this one he would have killed everyone.

The guy gave all this in one breath.

- Uh-uh ... Zoro? - Apparently, the lieutenant has singled out the most important thing for himself. - Did you tell Zoro? - Immediately losing all his composure, the visibly nervous man clarified, with a completely different look looking around the deck littered with corpses, Johnny, Yosaku and, in particular, the green-haired swordsman.

- Zoro's name is the only thing you've heard from what I said, isn't it? - Luffy sighed heavily with a question. - Okay, if so, then I propose to get acquainted first. My name is Cthulhu Nyarlathotep Shashpanchikisky, - the guy introduced himself with undisguised enthusiasm. - For friends, you can just Cthulhu.

- Um ... C-cthulhu ... -san? - the lieutenant said on the test, whose eyes, at the moment of the guy's introduction, panicky darted around.

- I said that only my friends can call me Cthulhu, - Luffy frowned. - Are you saying you've already become my friend? Yes? Something I have not heard of such! Maybe you've already become Zoro's friend? Why don't you call him Zoro-chan and see what happens? BUT? What do you say?

- S-sorry, I misunderstood you, - the lieutenant swept at once.

- Come on, I forgive, - the guy immediately said generously. - It happens to everyone, the main thing is no longer to address me so familiarly, and everything will be tip-top. Just call me: Nyarlathotep Shashpanchikisky. Call me that and we won't have any problems. Swept over?

- Y-yes.

- What "Yes"?

- Uh-uh ... I will call you ... as you said.

- How did I say?

- ...

The lieutenant said nothing, only the sweat was even stronger, cold sweat literally streamed down his face.

- What? Are you ignoring me? Zoro, - Luffy turned to the swordsman, who is now closely watching the arranged concert, - can you imagine? He stands right in front of me and dares to ignore me! Isn't he crazy? Death to him!

- I am not ignoring you! - almost hysterically exclaimed the man, nervously glancing at the green-haired guy ... and he didn't forget to look at Johnny's and Yosaku's imperturbable faces. The inseparable couple, of course, have not yet managed to achieve fame for their aniki, but they have already managed to earn a certain fame.

In turn, after observing what impression was made by just the fleetingly mentioned name of Zoro, Nami looked at this whole situation with the murders of pirates and rumors about the swordsman with completely different eyes. Reputation is a serious thing, and she knew it very well. Arlong, being a pirate who sailed from the Grand Line, had such a reputation that no pirate ship even ventured into the waters under his control. And the marines themselves were somehow not particularly in a hurry to save people from the oppression of the bloodthirsty pirates of the fish-man race. The girl realized that she was now observing something similar. In terms of how useful a certain kind of reputation becomes. Even the lieutenant of the Marines did not want to get involved with the bloodthirsty maniac known to all East Blue. And this is despite the twenty-fold superiority in numbers and the presence of a full-fledged base nearby. There is something to think about.

- Are you saying you're not ignoring me? - Meanwhile, Luffy continued his concert. - Then why do you refuse to address me by name? Or are you saying that I don't deserve to be addressed by my first name? Zoro, can you hear? He doesn't think I deserve to be addressed by my first name! Can you belive, huh? Death to him!

- No, no !!!

- Do not deserve?!! - the guy roared, and Nami immediately experienced a familiar sensation, as if the air around had turned into jelly, in which you can hardly move and breathe. - Zoro, death to him !!!

- You deserve it !!! - The lieutenant literally howled. - You deserve it !!! I meant that you deserve !!!

- So address me by name! Pulling his glasses off his nose, Luffy stared into the man's eyes with mock evil.

The profusely sweating lieutenant swallowed loudly, then tried to explain his dilemma:

- Just your name, sir… - he began hesitantly, but the Monster in the Hat cut him off immediately.

- Are you saying there's something wrong with my name? - the guy's eyes are bloodshot. - Do you have something against the name given to me from birth ?! Maybe you also have something against my mom ?! No, Zoro, did you hear that ?! He doesn't like my mom! Death to him !!!

- No, I like it, I like it !!! - The lieutenant, grabbed by the chest, howled like a wounded rhinoceros again. - It's just your name… it's just that your name is too complicated !!! I just cant pronounce it!!! Sorry!!!

- Can't ... can't pronounce ... can't pronounce my name? - Luffy said slowly, opening his fingers in shock. - The name… my beautiful name… the name given to me by my beloved mother… and you can't pronounce it? - he looked as if the whole world he was used to was collapsing right now. - Can't pronounce my beautiful name given to me since birth by my beloved mother? You ... you ... you do not respect me at all !!! - The guy roared again. - Zoro kill him! Kill them all!! So that only blood and corpses are everywhere !!!

- It looks like nothing can be done, - the swordsman slowly rose to his feet. - Since you don't respect him, you all really have to be killed - he said sadly.
