Chapter 4: Chapter 4: Welcome to the Grand Line

Who was Mr. 0? Anyone who asked a fellow transmigrator would know - he was Crocodile, one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea.

Didn't such a formidable enemy inspire fear? To say otherwise would be a lie. The power gap was immense, and Vivi was indeed terrified. However, whenever she thought about her picture being held by Imu, the ultimate boss of the One Piece World, her fear of Crocodile diminished. What was there to fear when she would have to face the ultimate boss who had not yet made a move? To be targeted by such a figure, who could be more unfortunate than her?

Her own combat abilities were nothing to brag about. Despite being a princess, she had been too principled in the past, and being young, her total wealth amounted to less than 500,000 Berries. In this world, where a newspaper cost 100 Berries, 500,000 didn't sound like much - it was equivalent to the Japanese yen in her past life, with a very low purchasing power.

And what about the other side? Imu, as the ultimate leader of the World Government, ruled over 170 affiliated countries. The formidable Marines were merely a subordinate force of the World Government.

The seemingly powerful Five Elders were nothing more than servants in front of Imu, lacking any real status.

How could she fight against all of that? Should she just bang her head against a wall?

She could hardly ask for money or manpower. On the other hand, the enemy possessed a massive force, with abundant resources and personnel beyond counting.

If only she knew the weakness of her opponent, things would be much easier to handle. Unfortunately, Oda had not yet revealed the relationship between Princess Vivi and Imu before she was transmigrated. She could only blame her bad luck.

She had no idea what her relationship with Imu was. Were they mortal enemies? Ancestral ties? It couldn't possibly be a mother-daughter relationship, could it?

Vivi refocused her thoughts, bringing them back to the present. She reassured the old servant, "Don't worry, within at least two years, and at most three years, the conspiracy of the puppeteer behind the scenes will be exposed."

She calculated the current time based on her age. It was now 1517 in the Sea Circle Calendar. Last year, a significant event occurred when Red-Haired Shanks became one of the Four Emperors. Around the same time, a woman with the codename Miss All Sunday became Mr. 0's partner, managing the daily operations of Baroque Works.

And this year, if nothing unexpected happened, it should be Ace's year to set sail. That meant it was still two to three years before Luffy set sail.

This was why Vivi firmly believed that within a period of at least two to three years, the issue with Baroque Works would be resolved. Even if she couldn't personally defeat Crocodile, there was still Luffy ready to lend a hand, wasn't there?

Regarding her resolute answer, the old servant Igaram had no suspicions whatsoever. Vivi felt quite composed as well. Surrounded by so many goofballs, she often felt she wasn't silly enough and that she didn't fit into the environment. To avoid standing out, she occasionally made an effort to appear a bit goofier herself.

...

"Pirates, welcome to the Grand Line!"

"Welcome to Whisky Peak!"

"Long live the sea's heroes!!"

Loud cheers filled the air above the small town, echoing through the light mist. Three pirate ships, proudly displaying their Jolly Roger flags, sailed in unison into the southern dock of the town.

The docks were crowded with "ordinary folks" who had come out to welcome the pirates. With smiles on their faces and various flags in hand, they greeted the fearsome pirates as if they were long-lost relatives.

Although this world lacked the idiom "red-carpet treatment," the bounty hunters of Whisky Peak had already shown their genuine admiration for the pirates through their actions. Their heartfelt joy couldn't be feigned.

The pirates, however, didn't disembark immediately. They knew their notoriety had spread through the Grand Line due to a series of burning, killing, and plundering. But this boisterous and warm welcome ceremony was an unprecedented sight. Shouldn't ordinary people's first reaction to pirates be fear?

Igaram, the captain of the Royal Guard, had a great deal of charisma. With his subordinates, he performed music and entertained the crowd at the dock, gradually dispelling any hostile intentions from the pirates. Slowly but surely, some pirates began to disembark.

Mr. 9 had already assembled an ambiance team to prepare the venue. They were prepared, knowing that the pirates might still be wary.

There were only a few people like Luffy in this day and age. To enter the Grand Line, pirates had to cut through thorns, and those who were not vigilant would have died long ago.

The ambiance team had arranged a grand bonfire celebration at the town's center. Several hired performers showcased acts such as stilt walking and fire hoop tricks around it. Their skills were certainly not on par with Buggy's pirate crew, but they were sufficient for this occasion.

With fine wine, delicious food, and lively performances, the pirates' wariness quickly melted away.

Vivi led Miss Monday, accompanied by a group that appeared to be children but were actually dwarves. They seemed elderly but were in fact seasoned young bounty hunters responsible for managing the sales within the venue.

Had to spend the loot, right? What was the point of being a pirate otherwise! Why not go home and live a peaceful life then?

The pirates were eager shoppers, as money held little value out at sea. Only when they came ashore, within the town, could they exchange their money for equipment, supplies, and provisions, making it worthwhile.

Soon, a group of pirates flocked to the shopping area on the eastern side of the square.

This area concentrated most of Whisky Peak's supplies. To facilitate management and to assure the pirates that they were not dealing with wandering peddlers who disappeared after a single sale, Vivi hung a sign that read "Princess's Wondrous Emporium of Curios and Special Items."

As evening approached, the sound of waves lapping against the rocks became faintly audible. Numerous bounty hunters lit torches, brightening up the trading area.

In the flickering firelight, one could see shelves and tables filled with a diverse array of items, including brand-new swords, worn-out sea charts, compasses, and flintlock pistols.

"Aye, come and have a look! Can't go wrong with these deals. No regrets, no deceits! Just for ninety-nine thousand, just for ninety-nine thousand!" a middle-aged woman held a banner with the advertising slogan written by Vivi and repeated it in a loop.

The pirate captain, wearing a captain's hat, asked with a slurred voice, "Um, what is that, uh, the short dagger in the middle of that shelf?"

The geography of the world of One Piece was quite peculiar, with the Grand Line intersecting with the Red Line, dividing the world into four seas: North Blue, East Blue, West Blue, and South Blue. There was little connection between these seas, and Vivi couldn't tell which sea this pirate captain hailed from.

She turned to look at the shelf and then deliberately slowed down her speech, making sure the pirate captain could hear and understand her clearly, "That, well, that is the weapon used by the world's greatest swordsman, 'Hawk Eyes' Mihawk!"

The pirate captain clearly didn't believe her; the blade on the shelf was hardly as big as his palm.

Knowing he was skeptical, Vivi had deliberately displayed it to dispel his doubts.

She cleared her throat and asked the pirate captain, "Have you ever seen Dracule Mihawk, also known as Hawk-Eyes? No? Well, let me explain. This is one of Hawk-Eye's hidden weapons. He once used this dagger to wound one of the Four Emperors, Red-Haired Shanks. I bought this sword from the Red-Hair Pirates, and it has a resounding name - the Little Hawk Flying Dagger!"
