It gives her the creeps after seeing the guy's message. After all that has happened yesterday, she felt like everything is just too impossible to be true.

"How did he know I was looking for his account last night?"

"How did he know my account?"

With her mind full of questions and confusion, she couldn't think clearly and ignored the message.

"This is just a bad dream. Everything will be alright if I go to school and meet my friends." she continued lying to herself until she received a call.

Incoming call

Seeing the username, she thought that the guy he met isn't an ordinary human being. She feels like he is more of a lunatic guy. As she was about to place her phone down, she accidentally pressed the accept button. She was unable to move, worrying about what the guy was about to say.

"You want answers, don't you?" she freaked out as soon as he heard the guy's deep voice on the line. She was speechless- trying to overcome her fear while listening to him.

"Did you crack the code already?" the guy asked.

"Well, if you already did, meet me later," he added.

She didn't want the guy to think of her as a weak girl and so she had gathered all her strength to answer him. "And why should I meet you? You're a nobody," she answered with a high-pitched voice- trying not to make it obvious that she was afraid. Her anger got worse when she heard the guy laughed as if he's really into their conversation.

"What's so funny, you jerk?"

"I told you nothing happened that night. Don't you want to know more about the guy you slept with?" the guy said.

Adelaine couldn't stand listening to his voice. It made her feel strange- thinking that she got herself into a huge mess.

With a grumpy face, she hung up. She had so many things in mind that she forgot about her school. She forgot what day it is. She rushed into the bathroom, dressed in her school uniform, and was ready to leave.

Worrying about the time, she runs to the door and was about to go out when Cassidy suddenly opened the door from outside. Cassidy asked her, "Where are you going?"

Holding her bag strap and combing her hair, "School." she answered sparingly. Adelaine was about to leave when Cassidy held her hand. She was very worried about Adelaine. Looking at her friend's messy looks, wearing her I.D tilted, she informed her that it's Sunday. Adelaine was silent and stopped acting like she was in a rush. She walked back inside their dorm with her downhearted looks and sat on her bedside.

Cassidy was worried and asked her. "What is wrong with you, seriously?"

She tried to hold back her tears as she wants to talk to her friend. But she can't help it and started sobbing and sniffing.

"That guy...he called me earlier." As her voice started to crack, Cassidy sat beside her and gave her a hug, rubbing her back. She waited for Adelaine to calm down and asked her to explain everything briefly. As the two were talking, they heard a knock on the door. They became silent and can't think of what to do.

Cassidy stood up to open the door, but Adelaine stopped her and told her not to open the door.

They ignored it and assumed that the person who knocked has already left. After some time of silence, the two were alarmed by Adelaine's vibrating phone. Seeing the phone number that's calling, she decided not to answer.

"Pick up the phone," Cassidy said. Having second thoughts and worries, she didn't answer the call.

"I'll help you," Cassidy told her and so she answered the call.

"You do know that I hate waiting in front of someone's door, don't you?"

After hearing the caller, Adelaine asked her friend to lock the door. But the locks were too loud that it can be heard outside.

"And you locked the door when you know that I'm out here waiting?"

Adelaine can't even let one word out of her mouth and just kept listening to him.

With her mind overthinking, she didn't want to put Cassidy in danger with her.

"You stay here. I'll go with him." Adelaine said with a trembling voice. She slowly walked towards the door. Careful of opening the door, the guy suddenly pushed the door aggressively with his hands. Adelaine clenched her hands into fists- trying to overcome her fears as she saw his mad face.

"Who are you to make me wait outside?!"

"I told you! I don't want to meet you again!"

After saying what she wanted to tell him, she tried to close the door but the guy was too strong to stop her from closing the door. She raised her head and looked straight into his eyes.

"Then, should I just tell everyone about what actually happened that night? Do you want me to go to your school and spread some dirty rumors?" the guy said. With her mouth open, her eyes widen and her heart beats faster.

"Wh-what..night?" she asked nervously.

The guy raised his eyebrow and smirked. "The night you slept with me."

Worrying about her reputation at school, she decided to talk with him.

"Cass, I think I just got myself into a big mess. Talk to you later," she told her friend and went outside.

"Oh! And don't open the door unless it's me, all right?" she added before closing the door.

She pulled him away from their room. The guy looked clueless, suddenly, he let go of Adelaine's grip. The two stopped in the hallway. She looked at him with her eyebrows colliding. "What?!" she asked.

"You're strange, Miss Reyes. So strange."

"If there's someone strange between us, it is you, Mister." and answered while raising her eyebrow. The guy didn't show any reaction. He was just looking down at her. They stared at each other for a second, when suddenly, the guy took small steps towards her. As he walks forward, Adelaine takes a step backward until she bumped her back on a wall. She couldn't back off and run away from him as he was blocking the way. She tried to escape from him by running down the path beside her, but the guy blocked the way with his arms. "Trying to escape, huh?" the guy said in a silly way with a cold smile.

Adelaine wasn't able to look at him in the eyes. She just looked down and didn't say a word.

"Why are you running away from me?" the guy asked her again. "I'm not a harmful person," he said with a low voice. Adelaine looked into his eyes and knew that he felt disappointed. He sighed heavily and looked down. "You're just like them. You judge me without trying to know more about me."

"You're Travis, am I right?" she asked. But after asking him, Adelaine saw him smiled. She doesn't have any idea why, but seeing his dimples made her feel relieved. He finally raised his head and looked into her eyes with a smile on his face.

"So, am I still a stranger to you?" he asked happily. She smiled hiding her teeth and nodded. "Well, at least I finally know that a Travis like you exists," she said in a silly way. They chuckled while looking at each other. He didn't felt his hand sweating until his hands slipped and made him lost his balance. Their faces were too close to each other. They couldn't move and can't even talk. Adelaine suddenly felt her body heat up. She pushed him away and pretended that she's fixing her hair. The guy seemed clueless, but still, he giggles.

"What? You're giggling?" Adelaine asked him. He just looked at her and came closer to her. Adelaine tried to step back, but for some reason, she can't feel her legs. As if she was too weak. The guy realized that she was shaking out of nervousness. He was one step away from her, and he stopped walking.

"I'll be careful from now on," he said with his deep voice while smiling. Adelaine could do nothing but smile at him too. "Should we get to know each other...and get over with this one night that I'm so curious about?" Adelaine asked him with her voice shaking. The guy smirked while running his hand through his hair.

"He's so handsome. Was I too harsh on him?" Adelaine can't stop thinking about the way she has treated him since yesterday and that night. She asked the guy, "Can I call you Travis?"

He suddenly looked serious and rubbed his chin.

"Actually, I'm--"

"I mean, isn't it weird? We're acting like friends now, but I don't even know how I should address you." Adelaine said while the guy was trying to talk.

He couldn't do anything after she cut him off. Reassuringly, he nodded and responded, "Yeah, sure."

After talking to each other, the mood suddenly became cold. They felt awkward facing each other. Adelaine asked him about the photo of her asleep as she tried to change the mood.

"Should we talk about it in my room?" Travis asked. Adelaine raised her eyebrows and was silent. She can't say yes. She can't say no too. "I mean, if you want to, we can--"

"No, how about we talk about it later? Let's eat lunch together. I have some errands to run right now. So..."

"So you're a busy person." Travis scoffs. Adelaine didn't know what to say. She thought he felt bad about her not sparing some time to talk to him.

"Okay, then. I have something to do as well. See you later." He departed after that.

Adelaine was left alone. She couldn't stop thinking about Travis' expression. Suddenly, she thought of something. She runs as fast as she can to catch up with Travis.

"Travis!" she shouted while running, trying to catch her breath. Travis didn't turn around and kept walking.

She shouted his name many times but he still didn't look at her. He didn't bother turning around. As if he doesn't know his name. Adelaine was able to catch up with him. She immediately grabbed his coat and tried to stop him from walking. Suddenly, Travis grabbed her by her arms aggressively.

"What's your problem?!" he shouted at her.

With his unexpected reactions, Adelaine stared at him with blank eyes- having a hard time breathing. She was speechless. Thinking that they were on good terms a few minutes ago, she couldn't know what she was supposed to feel and how she's supposed to react.

She felt her arm in pain and tried to let go of her arm from Travis' but he was holding her too tight. Adelaine tried to beg him. "Let go of me," she asked with a weak voice, he didn't do anything but stared at her. Her eyes began to drop slowly and felt like everything's rotating. "I-it hurts." she stuttered, but still, Travis didn't let go of her. He was acting strange. Adelaine was covered in sweat, catching her breath. Travis seemed like a different person until she mentioned who she is and finally got a grip.

"Hey, Travis. It-it's me, Adelaine," she said with a very weak voice. Travis was finally good but he was shocked when she saw her sweating a lot, looking like a sick girl.

He asked her if she's okay, but Adelaine seemed like she can't speak. He started to panic, worrying about her.

"Hey, Adi, hold onto me," he said with a trembling voice and carried her on his back. He gained all of his strength and run as fast as he can to the hospital.

Adelaine is still conscious, she just feels weak as she can't breathe properly. She was bothered and confused by the way Travis called her.

"What a nice nickname." she wanted to tell him those words, but she can't even say one word.

Adelaine was brought to the emergency room right after they arrived at the hospital. Travis was worried-sick and waited outside the emergency room. He finds it hard to breathe when he's in a hospital, but he did everything he can just to stay with Adelaine.

After an hour, he saw the doctor and rushed to her. He immediately asked her about Adelaine's condition. The doctor asked him, "What's your relationship with the patient, Sir?"

He didn't know what to say and was silent for a second.

"Sir, we are prohibited to inform anyone about the patient's condition unless it's their family or relatives." He still can't figure out what to say but he was worrying too much about Adelaine that he answered the doctor randomly.

With his eyes blinking excessively and his lips pressed together, he answered her. "I'm her boyfriend."

"Did you know that she has asthma?" he couldn't answer the doctor and didn't know how to react.

"Her chest tightened which affected her breathing. She needs to avoid being exhausted and stress for a while. But there's nothing to worry about, she's fine now. Make sure that she always has her inhaler with her." the doctor continued talking and left.

Travis was bothered the whole time. He can't stop thinking about it and keep blaming himself.

"If only I knew she was calling me. If only I knew she was running after me. If only I turned around. If only I stopped walking and listen to her voice." He couldn't do anything but blame himself. It hasn't been a week since Adelaine met him, but he was worrying too much about her.

He wanted to know how Adelaine was doing and went to her room. He was standing in front of the door but for some reason, he cannot open the door. He realized that it was his guilt that's stopping him from entering the room. He was afraid, yet he was worried.

With a half-hearted smile, he was sweating a lot. Frustrated, he lowered his head and took one step away from the door. Another. And another. He turned around and was about to leave.

Suddenly, the door opened.

"Excuse me?" he heard a woman's voice and turned around.

"The heck?! What are you doing here?!" Cassidy said as soon as she saw his face.

"Go, talk to her. I'm about to leave to get her some food. I arrived just a minute--"

"Move, you're blocking the way." he cut her off and pushed her away from the door.

"Is blocking the way a friendship goal of you two?" he asked her in a silly way and closed the door.

"Travis?" Adelaine got up right after she saw Travis.

Travis was walking towards her with small steps while rubbing his hands on his pants. Adelaine noticed him acting like a shy guy. She was worried, seeing him sweating a lot. "It's okay, don't worry. I'm all good now," she said, trying to calm Travis. He sat on the chair beside her bed, looking down, and can't even look straight into her eyes.

She noticed his swollen eyes and asked him, "You did not cry, did you?" Travis raised his head with his shocked face. His nose wrinkled and pointed his lips down.

"Why would I cry?! You're just a nobody!"

Adelaine smirked and clicked her tongue. "Isn't that what I told you when you called me?"

He avoided eye contact with her and kept looking down.

"Hey, I'm fine. There's nothing to worry about," she said while chuckling and tapped his back. "I know, the doctor told me," he answered. Adelaine immediately asked him, "How did you know? The doctor can't tell anyone about the patient's condition, unless--" he cut her off. "I told her that I'm your boyfriend."

"What?!"

"I was worried sick about you. I can't even think properly..and all of a sudden, I thought of lying about me being your boyfriend," he said with his eyes widen and his eyebrows colliding.

Adelaine scoffed.

"So, you're worried about me now, huh?" Adelaine said. Travis suddenly felt awkward with the situation and stood up, walked back and forth in front of her bed. "Of course! That's normal! I was with you when it happened." he answered with his chin trembling and biting his lips, glancing away from her.

Adelaine smirked and chuckled after hearing what he said.

"Be my boyfriend, then."
