Chapter 35: Chapter 35 - The Freeday

When I woke up, I was sitting next to Alex. We were on the bus it didn't make any sense at all.

"Why are you all dress in green?"

"Zoe said we are going to a jungle today. Zoe believes that in order to walk around, it will be good to be in green. I agree with her. It will allow us to blend with the bushes, trees, and the foliage. But I disagree that the animals will not be able to sense us. I mean animals can hear our heartbeats and heat signatures."

A jungle! I had never been on one before coming here. The kids at the orphanage used to talk about taking trips into the city, and spending time out of the school but never to a jungle.

"She even promised that no one will die today, But we are in a forest, there is just so much she won't be able to predict. So I don't believe her. I mean just look at the number of kids that died in the last 2 days. I am sure there's been at least 100 kids that have died so far."

If what Zoe promised was really true, then this should be exciting. No one was going to die. it was like a dream come true. A real excursion.

"What happened last night?"

"From what I heard, you were sent to the emergency unit. They had you all patched up and covered in ice."

"Why?"

"To help you recover. You see, when the human body is plunged into an ice bath, it can help you remove muscle pain and soreness. It also helps your body generate new blood cells which will help with the recovery."

"Then how did I get here? "

"They must have moved you. When we boarded the bus this morning you were already here. Eyes closed, resting on the window, but breathing."

"They even had videos showing your fight with Tina. There was just no way you could have beaten her. She was so smooth with every attack and you just looked like a rag doll being sweeped away. But u did get her. Once."

This was so embarrassing, all the other kids from the other teams must have seen my stupid fight last night. My face burned.

I could still feel the aching pain on my neck. The last thing I remembered was Tina smashing her spear against it. If it hadn't been for Xie Li, I would have died. Tina was just too good with her spear.

Screeching, the bus came to a stop.

"Alright lads, and gals. Get out!"
