Chapter 1: Chapter 1: Crossing Over

"Click-clack!"

"Click-clack!"

In a dimly lit room, a man sat in front of a computer monitor. The monitor was the only source of illumination, while the sound of typing on the keyboard was the only thing breaking the calm within the otherwise almost silent room.

The man wore square spectacles, which he adjusted every now and then. His legs under the desk kept swaying back and forth or up and down as if he was on the verge of exploding from annoyance and impatience.

His clothes looked shabby, his hair was unkempt, and he had light stubble. He also reeked of sweat, seemingly haven't taken a bath for days.

Despite all this, his fingers never stopped moving and his concentration never broke away from the monitor.

"Click-clack!"

"Click-clack!"

Finally, after some time, the sound of keyboard keys being smashed halted.

"Finished!" He groaned and looked at the success prompt in the monitor with tears of joy and relief in his eyes.

"Although it should contain some bugs I'm too lazy to figure it out. Let players figure it out!"

"What? What happens if a bug is found? Of course, it'll be the time for a version upgrade!"

"Ah... ha..." Aki Sora yawned. In the dimly lit room, the face reflected by the computer screen was exhausted.

"I really don't know why this customer requested this kind of project." Aki Sora stretched out and muttered softly, "Sims, is there even a market for this kind of game now?"

"Well, why do I care? It's not like I am the one paying the money for this." He shrugged helplessly and continued: "Let me just conduct a final test and I'll be done with this!"

After half an hour…

Seeing the sequence of passed tests flashing in green, the breath he was holding a while finally broke loose. His nose wrinkled smelling the bad breath.

"God, I reek…" Waving his hand like a swatting stick, he hurriedly closed all the running programs, pushed the source code into a remote repository, and then switched off the personal computer.

As he stood up, his body sway lightly. He involuntarily held the chair and desk and shook his head lightly to shake off the dizziness. "Ugh… this job will kill me one day, I swear…"

He didn't really pay it that much attention. After all, this wasn't the first time he experienced it. Although he knew that these weren't good signs considering he was only twenty-four years old, his mentality was like this—"I'll see things as they come!"

He never bothered thinking about the far-off uncertain future. He has been fine for 24-years, he will be just fine in the future too. No need to worry too much.

Since the only source of illumination—the monitor was turned off, darkness reigned in the room. Well, not really. There was faint light coming from the air conditioner too. Using it, he navigated himself to find the bed and then slumped down face-first onto it.

"Ah… this comfort… nothing can compare to this…" He moaned in satisfaction as his heavy eyelids slowly started closing.

"I want to sleep… for a… long time… at least… for two or three days…" He mumbled, his eyes closing completely right after he finished.

The next time Aki Sora woke up, he felt refreshed, astoundingly refreshed. It was a foreign feeling. For the past year, he woke up irritated every morning due to being sleep-deprived.

"Huh? Did I really sleep for two days or something? How come no one called me? Wait…" He sat up on the bed, speaking to himself while yawning only to find something incredibly shocking. The bed he was sleeping on… it was unfamiliar! On the second look, he wasn't even in his own room!

Discovering this, his consciousness instantly becomes sober.

"What the…" He looked left and right in extreme shock. What is this situation?

Thud! Thud!

Two loud thuds came from the ceiling.

"Yeah, yeah, I'm going to make food now!" He yelled out involuntarily as if it was natural to him.

Then, he was dumbfounded. "What did I… or rather, why did I…? Can anyone explain what's going on? Did I got kidnapped?"

While he was bewildered and trying to figure out what is going on, a stream of memories entered his mind. Like a movie in the theatre, it played out inside his mind.

After those memories finished playing, he was dazed for a long time before coming back to reality. When his shock subsided, he whispered in disbelief: "I-is this the legendary crossing?! Have I really crossed? Have I finally crossed?!"

As an avid novel, manga, and anime consumer, Aki Sora has naturally dreamt of crossing over to a different world, where he would learn magic, get himself a harem of beauties, and defeat evil. You know the cliché stuff.

However, the reality was a bit disappointing. He has crossed… but this was a normal world, that is if anime and manga characters coming to life can be considered normal at all. Moreover, an anime character was living right above him.

A thirteen-year-old hikikomori young girl whose hobby, passion, and job is to create erotic images. And on top of that, she was incredibly famous for her work. You wouldn't find this ridiculous scenario in real 'normal' life.

She also has a pen name.

Eromanga-sensei!

Correct, the Eromanga-sensei, Sagiri Izumi herself in flesh has become his little step-sister! He was once more shocked and in disbelief. But this was, in fact, the reality! It was as real as it could be.

Taking a few deep breaths, Aki calmed himself down. His eyes then surveyed his room. The room itself was gigantic, probably covering even more area than the whole apartment he used to live in.

On either side of his bed was a wall wardrobe, and on the opposite side was a very wide wall-mounted desk, atop which two monitors and a PC cabinet stood out. The side panel of the cabinet was made up of glass, allowing him to peek inside clearly, and he could instantly tell that it was a beefed-up computer judging from those two thick pieces of graphics card inserted in the motherboard.

His eyes then flickered upward, on the wall above the desk. The posters and pictures of colorful anime characters entered his sight. Anyone can tell that this room belonged to an otaku.

On the left side of his room were a couple of comfortable-looking couches, and a glass table in middle. Beside the desk where his computer sat, there was a designer TV stand. Underneath the big TV, in the cabinets were neatly arranged old and new, big and small console devices.

The shelves on the other side of the computer desk were full of exquisite figures. The shelves next to them were full of books.

Having taken a good look at the whole layout of the room, Aki stood up and stepped inside the bathroom.

The mirror inside reflected a young and tall man around the age of sixteen, with anime-like white hair and red eyes. He was quite handsome and had a decently built figure, and wide shoulders. His appearance could definitely turn the heads of a few girls when walking down the streets.

He touched his face and muttered strangely: "Really crossed…"

He felt strange because, well, imagine you slept at night and woke up inside the body of a different person altogether… yeah, that's strange and creepy.

Any normal person in his shoes might be close to freaking out now but since he was an otaku with nothing to lose back in his past life, he was taking this all rather easily.
