Chapter 13: Harbinger of the End
The mantid seemed to look down upon Zi Xiang it's pale eyes glared down at Zi Xiang seemingly observing him in the midst of the savage battle. Even with the wolves viciously ripping at the mantid's limbs, its only movement was in its twitching eyes look gazing into Zi Xiang as both watched each other.
One in interest while the other in gross bewilderment. As the wolves fought and growled none of it seemed to phase either it was a silent world between the two. Facing down the monstrosity it was worse than just death it was the end.
The end, the epilogue to Zi Xiang's life, Everything he knew everything that he had, everyone around him had died, and the monster had killed them. Zi Xiang was dead he had died as soon as he entered the field because he was no longer himself.
He had lost everything and there was nothing but the truth to greet him. His world had ended, his friends, family, belongings, home, and everything he once had was gone. He was no longer on Earth his everything his life, everything that gave him purpose.
Gone
He was alone with nothing, in Another World. He hadn't lived his own life and everything was taken away and was turned to waste it was just a memory in Zi Xiang's head, his life from before was no more, he would never be able to speak to any of his friends or family again, he would never be able to read the same books watch the same movies play the same games as before. Everything his life had turned to waste.
Though it was not the mantid which was truly the monster he was only the messenger, the horse upon which the true monster rode. Truth the horror which man both pursed yet rebuked. It had faced Zi Xiang with two options, Insanity or Acceptance.
The harbinger of the end either Zi Xiang would die on that day or his world would.
Faced with these options to abandon everything in his life, throw them away, and step into the new world. Or abandon himself and stay in his old world.
Zi Xiang couldn't choose.
