Chapter 17: AIR DROPS.
In a normal situation, we would go right now and try and get as many supply crates as possible, But it was almost nighttime. We all knew that the Eaters were extremely dangerous at night.
"What's the rush?, in this area, we're probably one of the few groups that can move around safely and get back in One piece. We can wait till tomorrow coz I'm sure not many people can go against the Eaters and survive." Abdul said with a laid-back view.
"We might be strong, but it's not like we're the confirmed strongest, there might be others more powerful than us so we should try and immediately get those supplies as soon as possible". Mariam countered, favouring a more aggressive approach.
"That's true, but we're all tired right now, we should rest and properly prepare before going out." Abdul reasoned
"Let's vote on it then" I decided.
"If you wanna go right now, raise your hands."
Only Mariam raised hers.
"If you feel that we should go tomorrow, raise your hands."
Toyin, Abdul and Sandra all raised their hands.
"Tomorrow it is." I said.
Mariam just sighed, and dropped the subject. Then we all went inside for a night of rest.
THE NEXT DAY.
Waking up at 6:30 Am as usual, I stretched my body. Looking at the girl laying beside me, i tried to quietly leave the bed without waking her.
Checking myself in the mirror, I noticed most of the bruises were gone and I could barely feel any pain. My regeneration was pretty Goddamn strong if a night of rest was all I needed to recover from yesterday.
I started to plan our day as usual until I heard the door of the room beside me open. Going out, I saw it was Toyin.
"Good morning bro" I greeted
"Morning man, sleep well?"
"Yeah bro, like a baby."
"hah, of course you'd sleep well if you were cuddling a cute girl all night long"
"Yup, don't be jealous man, Sometimes if you do it just right, cuddling air can be nice too hahaha"
"Fuck you man, it's too early for this teasing"
he said laughingly.
We'd all decided to go to the different rooms around us that night. Toyin had the first room to my right and Sandra after his and Abdul last.
With them finally In their own rooms, Mariam and I could enjoy a night of true intimacy. I had to go get some condoms though, We were almost out.
Few minutes later, everyone was up and came to my room for the morning meeting.
"Morning guys. Here's the plan for today."
"We'll leave by 11pm today. By that ttime he sun should've started shining so we'll have about 5 hours to get what we're looking for and get back here."
"From what I saw, the Crates landed around the Uncompleted estates beside our lodge. That place can be like a maze if you're not being careful so The team build up this time will be "Me and Sandra as one group, and Toyin Abdul and Mariam in another."
"We'll go together, and then branch off into the two main areas to look for the crates. we should try and get at least 2 crates so we have enough of whatever is in there."
After explaining our objectives, everyone agreed that was an Ok plan so they went to get ready, they had about 3 hours before we left so they could prepare in that time.
It was my turn to cook so I started making a simple macaroni meal. I boiled the macaroni to get it a bit soft. Then I drained it of the water and started making a sauce. Heating up some groundnut oil, I fried the onions first, then the tomato paste and sardines and let it simmer for some time before I poured the Macaroni inside the pot and mixed everything up. It was no 5 star meal, but at least we wouldn't go out hungry.
After I was done eating, I went to the gym to go confirm something. One side of the gym was a solid concrete wall. It had 2 holes about a fist wide going into it.
Walking up to it. I took a boxing stance and wound up for a straight punch.
"BOOOOOOMMMM." The sound was extremely loud, and my hand sunk all the way to slightly above my elbow.
This had confirmed my suspicions, killing those three Puppets of Davids had given me a power boost. The last time i punched this wall, I was still a few inches below that elbow.
So was it that anything I killed gave me more power?, those guys weren't Eaters, So why did I Get stronger??.
Deciding not to think of it, I put my full attention into my exercise. I tried lifting the weights but there weren't any heavy enough to make me really sweat, So i decided to do body weight exercises. These were a lot more challenging since after checking my weight, I was at 110 kg!!!, a full 25 kg increase from my previous 85 kgs.
After a good 30 minutes session, I was warmed up enough, since I didn't want to exhaust myself just before the mission started.
Going back upstairs I was thinking about whether we could start farming here. The supply of food we could raid, would only get smaller and smaller, eventually running out, so we had to make provisions before then. The area right behind us, was overgrown with weeds and belonged to someone that was previously about to start building a house there, although I'm sure he wouldn't need it now anyway. We could probably make a secondary wall Taking in a huge amount of that untouched land and start preparing to farm for ourselves. Getting good seeds to plant would be an issue though as the only place I could think of was the school Greenhouse.
With different thoughts o. my mind, i got back upstairs only to find everyone already gearing up. I'd been so preoccupied with my thoughts I'd almost forgotten the time we were supposed to set off. Facepalming myself, I rushed into to get my gear, while my friends snickers had me feeling embarrassed...
