*Warning- topic of sex, drugs and depression*
"This is your fault! If you'd gotten here sooner she would never have went out to call you!"
"Fuck! I know, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry my never meant for this to happen. She probably hates me!"
I hear them arguing as I come to. I hear things breaking, and people swearing. I need to show them I'm im awake and conscious. I keep trying but nothing, I try screaming, moving but nothing. I finally get my pointer finger to move very slightly but they don't notice, they are too busy arguing and glaring at eachother.
" If she doesn't wake I'll fucking kill you River, if it wasn't for you taking a liking to her I'd have never given her your phone number," Asher's voice cracks towards the end and I know he's breaking. If I don't wake up soon, I'm afraid Asher will go back down the path I found him in back in highschool.
————flashback 6 years ago————
"Awinita! Have you seen that guy? He's the school bad boy, avoid him, he's into drugs and a real player." I had been warned so many times but I never listen, I know how he feels. I can tell him and I both share the same feelings, he just expresses his a lot different. This guy is depressed, I don't know his story but I want to help, he needs a friend and I'm sure I need one too.
After school I head over to his car. Of course this guy is loaded, I didn't realise he came from such a rich family. This must be how he is able to get all the drugs. I sit on the curb waiting for him to come over.
I see him coming over with some girls which he immediately told them to leave as he heads my way with a smirk. I'm not sure what he thought I was here for but I'm sure it wasn't anything good.
"Yo girl, you got something to say? Get in the car and lets go for a drive," he's definitely using sex and drugs as his outlit. I decide to get in but once we leave school grounds I start talking.
"Asher, that's your name right? I don't like seeing others ruining their life's like this. Are you okay? I can see right through your cover and if you need someone to vent to I'm here," I try to speak pretty fast seeing I'll get out at the Red light up ahead.
"Here us my number if you need anything, bye," I say sliding my number in the dash as I get out of the car.
The next day in school you can tell he sobered up and wasn't even looking at girls. I catch his eye and he comes over.
"You're wrong, I'm fine, just leave me alone," he states before waking off. I know he won't give up that easy but at least I have him thinking about it.
A week later I receive a phone call from him.
"I- can you please come over?I'll pick you up, I really need someone," to say I expected this would be wrong, I actually thought he had forgotten. I give him my address and pack some stuff before heading out where he was. We head to his home, it's actually his own apartment where he lives alone. We head in and sit in silence for a while.
"Asher, are you okay? If you need to talk, please do," I say breaking the silence.
And after that night Asher and I became best friends, he slowly gave up sex and drugs, it took a lot of work and we both got help for our depression.

I really hope River knows how fragile Asher is in times like this. He's gone three years without doing drugs, this could break him. I have to wake up.
"Shit Asher are you okay?" River asks panicked.
"Of course I'm fucking not, my best friend is in a coma!" Ash shouts, his voice cracking a little. I hear him slap River, I'm not sure if it was his hand or face but it motivates me enough to grown a little shutting both of them up.
"Did-did you hear that?" I hear one of the whisper.
"Go get a nurse!" Asher says before running to my side.
"Awin, wake up, please wake up, I'll clean the house for a year, please!" I hear Asher beg as I finally regain more feeling and am able to move.
"H-hi," my voice is so raspy.
"Thank God! River, hurry, she's awake!" I open my eyes finally and see I'm in a hospital, fuck.
"Asher, how long have I been out?" I start to panic, if I miss too much work this could be bad.
"Don't worry, I think 13 hours? You fainted around 12 yesterday and it's almost 1. They think it's from stress and anxiety. You have a week off work to recover." I release a breath I didn't realise I was holding.
"Thank you Asher, how is River?" I start to worry because of the fight yesterday.
"Don't worry, my family covered for him and got the guy who molested you sent to jail." Good, River is okay. I feel weirdly happy, I don't quite understand this feeling.
"Once we get out of here I expect the house cleaned everyday for a year, I'm not lifting a finger," I'm so happy I was conscious when he said that.
"Fuck you heard that?" we both laugh as River and the nurse arrive. Let's get this over with, I want to go home and maybe give River a actual date.
