Chapter 88: Containing the Tri-Horned Ram

Everyone watched the Tri-horned Ram tweak the trajectory of its charge.

Bah-Bah-Blehhht!

That howl-like bleat ravaged the ears of all men nearby. Both Skrod and the elkkin chief shook it off. However, the same couldn't be said for most of their men.

Some of the rushing men stumbled and fell. Others felt their bodies go stiff out of reflex, tripping over their staggering comrades. The settlement's defense charge fell apart in seconds from that single, powerful cry. 

"Hold strong! Don't waver!" Chief Strad shouted, leaping over his fumbling brethren. "If we die, so will your wives and families!"

It was the inspirational boost that many needed to shake off that tremor of fear. 

Still, even with the men rushing back into formation, Skrod and the elkkin chief were the only two men moving at full speed.
