Chapter 1: The Great Underground Tomb Of Nazarick!

Chapter 1: Great Underground Tomb of Nazarick (Edited)

Most stories start from humble beginnings, however there are those that can only start from greatness. This is one of those stories.

It all started back in Yggdrasil, the heart of the Nine Worlds.

Within Yggdrasil there are many races, from Dragons to Goblins, that lived in constant fear and wars. Many dream of seeing another day, however not many wake to see it.

The reason for this is because of Players, the neverending cancer that grows stronger as time goes on.

Maybe because of the difficulties in Yggdrasil, to Players, the New World was nothing less than Heaven.

They did not have to fear other Players, they did not have to fear the inhabitants, they could simply live as deities.

Though, ironically, the New Worlders desire to venture into Yggdrasil, the world of the gods, to be closer to their gods, not aware of their gods' thoughts about the matter.

While the New World compared to Yggdrasil is just a droplet in a vast ocean, one cannot deny it gives more than it should and gains nothing in return.

The world has been changed by both inside and outside threats.

The Dragon Emperor, undoubtedly the strongest being of the New World caused the descent of the gods.

The Greed Kings altered the carbon footprint of the world by slaughtering every dragon and unsubmissive creatures they could find.

The Six Great Gods exterminated all non-human races, causing a cycle of hatred that lasted for hundreds of years.

It's not clear which world is stronger, the New World or Yggdrasil, but it cannot be denied that they feed off each other.

The curse of the Dragon Emperor lingers to this day, causing gods to descend every century.

Though overpowered, the gods were not invincible. No one knows how many gods have fallen, because their bones never surfaced!

After decades of exploration, it was discovered that the New World comprises three continents, the Holy Continent, Demon Continent and Dragon Continent.

Our story takes place on the Holy Continent.

The Holy Continent is said to have been touched by the Six Great Gods. How true that is, is uncertain.

Looking at the descent of the gods, it seems like they were all drawn to the Holy Continent.

On a remote corner of the Holy Continent is a vast plain of grass and trees.

Amidst this place, stood an area that seemed out of place, with a massive hill that could be called a mountain, towering over the trees.

The area seems out of place, because it seems to be obscuring the area from prying eyes.

To an untrained eye, everything looks normal, so they would continue walking, unaware of what's around them.

However, to a level 100 Player, a god, they would notice magic circles covering the area, flickering between illusion and reality.

Bypassing the magic circles, however impossible that feat might be, one would be graced by a magnificent temple. However, considering the location of the temple, one would be wise to approach with caution.

The temple seems to flicker between holy and demonic, depending on the location of the sun and moon in the skies. In front of the temple, is a well maintained lawn growing on top of many tombstones.

Seeing this scene, one would get the urge to believe this was an ancient temple dedicated to some god, but that idea would be dismissed by the dark undertones.

All around the lawns were statues of angels and other divine looking beings. However, it is hard to say if they were truly divine and not demonic.

Once the light of the sun is off of them, horns and tails will grow, making it look like purgatory!

The temple was built entirely out of gleaming white stones. At the four cardinal corners of the temple, four pillars stood, seeming impossible intending on keeping the skies up!

In the heart of the temple, is a marble coffin draped under a red flag with an unknown insignia, that seems to speak of things long gone, yet still remain.

The coffin is made of the same gleaming white stones, making it and the temple of one body.

The coffin emitted an air of mystery and wonder, tempting one to ponder the question, 'What could be inside?'

Around the room one would see statues of warriors and angels kneeling in various positions with respect in their various body language.

The statues are angels that seem to have fallen from Heaven after angering God.

Though not obvious, one could determine that some of the angels had black wings and had a bloodthirsty expression on their faces.

The angels' expressions are so lifelike that it seems like they could come to life at any moment.

As a result of the life-likeness, looking at the angels, one seems to be able to sense their regrets and guilt of rebelling against the divine.

It was the same for the statue of warriors who stood in rows, showing off their gruesome armors.

The figures hewn from white stones, are posed in various stances of combat, their expressions fierce and battle hardened.

One status shows a winged warrior, its obsidian feathered wings unfurled behind, while another depicts a warrior clad in spiked armor, wielding a wicked morningstar.

Another figure portrays a snarling beastman, its claws extended in a deadly lunge, while a final statue shows a hooded figure shrouded in darkness, grasping a staff of lightning.

Despite their brutal appearance, there is a palpable energy that thrums in the air, a sense of power and determination that seems to radiate from the unmoving forms of the statues.

Beyond the various warriors, is a stairway that leads into the darkened bellows of the earth.

The path is steep, narrow and in danger. Each step one takes, one would subconsciously feel as if they were walking towards the Gates of Hell!

It was unknown what purpose the temple served, was it a burial site of royalty? Was it a seal of a demonic god? Or was it the doorway of something greater?

Walking along the path, an omnipresent darkness that seems to exist from the dawn of creation blanket the area, making the fears hidden in one's heart more pronounced.

Deafening sounds of beasts roaring and blood curdling screams echoed, making one's mind wander and frightened by what they imagine, deterring them from going any deeper.

Walking for a while, one would come to an opening where an army of the devil's failed creatures would come into view.

There is a sign that goes, 'No Man Can Judge Me, Only God.' Even the blind could tell this was the heart of all evil!

These creatures were unfazed as they continued to walk within the walls of the 'floor' as if they would never stop moving. No, maybe they will never stop until HE gives them a new directive.

The creatures ranged from: skeletons, with the smallest one being 1.5 meters tall and the biggest being over 2.5 meters tall.

These are Zombies whose eyes are green with greed and hunger for fresh meat.

There are Doombringers, amalgamations of many undeads fusing to create a stronger but slower creature.

In the distance, one could hear constant sounds of chewing as if insects were devouring something, and judging by the noise, the number of insects was not small.

Away from the undead, one would see werewolves as large as buffalos, some even bigger.

The werewolves moved in packs, heading in the same direction.

There were other creatures of myths and legend residing within this sleeping beast of a place

Red eyes flash by as many females dressed in burial clothes appear from the darkness, either flying through the air, turning into bats or running on the ground.

All creatures minded their own business, not crossing each others paths.

Opposite the direction of the werewolves and vampires, is a portal leading to an unknown place.

Taking the portal, one would arrive inside an underground lake.

The water is clear and seems soothing to drink. With a simple glance, one would see the bottom of the lake, not having an blind spot.

Inside the lake, many types of fishes could be seen swimming around happily.

Amongst the many fishes were the black eyeless fish that were plump with tender meat.

Unlike the many fishes swimming around, the black eyeless fishes know better; thus, they only float on the surface of the lake.

Deep at the center of the lake, one could see an earthen giant at the height of 30 meters sitting down without the slightest movement.

The earthen giant looked crudely made, making one wonder if a child was the creator.

No creature dared to approach the giant, as if they knew the consequences of doing so.

Advancing past the lake, one would arrive in a snow blizzard. The blizzard seems to have been going on for ages untold, without any sign of ending.

In the heavens of the blizzard world, there were creatures of monstrosity, the Dragons.

To be more precise, Frost Dragons. The smallest of these Frost Dragons was 5 meters long, with the biggest one being 50 meters long.

These legendary creatures flew into the skies, not minding the bone-chilling blizzard at all. Instead they seemed content as their power grew under the harsh temperature.

On the ground, one could see two buildings made of ice.

One of these buildings was two-story with a bleak appearance.

The two-story building was shrouded in a dark cloud of ice. The top floor of the building was above ground, while the other half was underground.

The second building would be a dome-shaped building that had six huge crystals surrounding it.

Looking at the dome building from the outside, one could see various weapons, with most of them being swords and halberds.

Beyond the colossal blizzard world, one would have arrived at a forested jungle that had numerous trees as far as the eye could see.

Many creatures, not unlike the Frost Dragons in the blizzard world, could be seen, covering the land.

In the center of this jungle stood a huge tree that looks like the World Tree, but smaller and less majestic.

Besides this huge tree is a coliseum with tens and hundreds of seats, which golems sit on, taking the place of the audience.

In the sky, one could see a bright blue sky, filled with clouds. The sky looks as if it was artificially created , as it doesn't have the energy which naturally created things have.

On the ground, one could see a town, the size of a small city.

In the city, there are lots of creatures living in harmony — Goblins, Humans, Draconian, Dwarfs, Elves, Halflings, Lizardmen and a few more.

Beyond the forested world, the first thing one would experience is the feeling of their flesh evaporating and their body becoming dehydrated.

The second thing would be fear and a mental breakdown as there is no water to quench one's thirst.

The last thing would be, accepting one's fate and succumbing to death knowing they could not escape it.

Getting over magma flowing around them, one would be shocked to see demons and devils of Hell in the flesh.

Had a religious person appear in this place, their beliefs would probably collapse. They would be asking themselves, have 'I sin in my time alive and is this a mistake?' If it was a mistake, why are they not in the promised land of the gods but instead in the realm of fiends?

These vile creatures were training, in either magic, close combat, or strategy, but while doing so, they kept radiating power that would make mortals tremble in fright.

As these demonic beings spar with one another, they would occasionally look towards an almost broken down temple with reverence and devotion.

The old temple had a lava river running next to it. This temple was the home of their master, a being that could only be called the Demon Lord.

As for the old temple? To demons and devils, the temple was perfect as could be. The temple was, after all, created by the greatest of all demons and the creator of their master, the Supreme Being of Greater Disaster, Ulbert Alain Olde!

Beyond the fiery hell, an endless desert exists.

Not many have been fortunate to witness this place.

In this place, all one would see is a dessert. However, if one's eyes were good, one could see a heavenly palace in the distance.

On the other side of the heavenly palace, one would see buildings in an area situated in what could only be called a separate world. That is because unlike the desert around, this area is covered in cherry blossoms.

Below the deserted world, is the realm of royal suites, with rooms that number 41.

The royal's suites were made and decorated with an unusual amount of rare gems and items.

Inside of the royal's outfits, there are two separate rooms that made the place look like a business room instead of a suite.

Just looking at the place, the same thought would come to their minds, 'Even kings and emperors wouldn't dream of residing in this place.'

Below the royal's suites, is a throne room with forty flags hanging on the walls with their own unique symbol.

The aura of the flags were dim, except the one behind the throne, the Throne of Kings.

It was like a ruler looking at their subordinates. The vibe around the flag was overbearing.

Underneath the flag, is a well crafted throne, crafted from blackened metal, intricately wrought with reliefs of dragons and demons that writhe and coil around its leg and arms.

The throne dominates the surrounding space, its presence seeming commanding respect and awe from all who behold it.

To the residents of the New World, the denizen and three dimensional gods, this place is not just a tomb, nor is it just a place, no, to them it is the divine abode of the gods, called, the Great Underground Tomb of Nazarick!
