____Narration____

Yuji was aware of his limits, his injuries and his weaknesses.

He knew more than anyone how far he could go in his current state.

And that's why he didn't fear Kanoh Agito.

Even though he was wounded, even without much of his strength, he knew he had a chance of winning.

[Status]

Name: Kanoh Agito

.

No... He knew he would win.

"Start!"

The moment the referee announced the start of the match, Yuji simply stepped forward, which startled everyone - after all, a direct approach certainly wasn't the best choice against someone of Kanoh Agito's level.

But Yuji knew this, and before reaching the man, he stopped his momentum, leaving enough distance between the two to allow blows from both sides to reach each other.

Most of the spectators were confused, after all, at that distance, Kanoh Agito had a huge advantage, since his wingspan was greater than Yuji's.

But at that moment, did it really mean anything?

The other fighters didn't think so.

Because this wasn't a fight where the attack distance mattered.

It was a fight of predictions.

Standing opposite each other, the two fighters made minimal, almost imperceptible movements, but they totally changed the future of the fight.

Kuroki Gensai and Kaneda Suekichi were the first to notice what kind of battle the two were fighting, and they couldn't help but be impressed.

'They're predicting each other's movements.' Kaneda felt sweat beading on his forehead. His eyes, which were already trained to try and anticipate the movement of his opponents, were unable to predict what either of them would do next. 'Pre-Initiative Versus Pre-Initiative! They're on a completely different level!'

For most of the fighters in the arena, they couldn't see much beyond what was in front of them, but Kuroki Gensai, who had the greatest command of pre-initiative of all, could clearly see what was happening between Yuji and Kanoh.

He could clearly see a battle of predictions being waged before his eyes.

When Yuji attacked, Kanoh defended and counter-punched. When Kanoh kicked, Yuji defended and grabbed. When Kanoh grabbed, Yuji twisted his flesh.

A battle of predictions, which would decide the winner of the match. A single poorly executed or poorly chosen move was more than enough to leave only one of them standing.

An extraordinary fight in the eyes of the old master.

Fortunately, the real start didn't take long to happen, and Kuroki noticed it seconds before.

"They're going to start."

With a declaration from a new voice, Kuroki turned to see Doppo Orochi beside him, his eyes returning to the arena at the exact moment Kanoh made his first move.

A powerful kick, which flew towards Yuji's thigh like a bullet. A blow that the boy had noticed beforehand.

Boom!

And he skillfully stopped it by stepping on the man's thigh, immediately countering with a spinning elbow, which Metsudo's Fangs easily blocked.

With that, an exchange of blows began, but quickly ended when both fighters walked away, neither having suffered any apparent damage.

There was a considerable difference in attributes between the two. Kanoh was superior to Yuji in all physical aspects, so to get around this, Yuji didn't let him complete the movement of his attacks, which nullified much of the power that his blows should have had.

It wouldn't work forever, but for the beginning, it was the best possible approach, since the boy needed to study his master's movements before anything else.

It had been a long time since the two had faced each other in training, so Yuji didn't know perfectly how much his master had evolved.

But this quick exchange of blows made him realize that his master's progress had not been small.

Having evolved even more in his previous fights, Kanoh's movements were even more polished, and his attacks carried a weight that Yuji couldn't predict.

His master had reached a whole new level, and he would even go so far as to say that Kanoh had surpassed even Kuroki Gensai.

But that didn't intimidate him. He had also evolved a lot during the tournament, to the point where he felt he could beat Kuroki Gensai without the need to use [Advance] or [Remove].

With his own style, and his mastery over the [Unconscious], Yuji had reached a level that placed him at the top of this world.

!

Blocking a punch aimed at his stomach, Yuji took a step back while opening his hands, his eyes narrowing as he parried countless punches aimed at his body, slowly backing away from the barrage of attacks.

The blows were heavy, carrying a force that Yuji's base body was unable to rival, but through the manipulation of flow, he was able to stand on that wave of attacks with relative tranquillity.

Unfortunately, that wasn't enough to stop someone of Kanoh Agito's caliber.

Boom!

Yuji gritted his teeth as a kick landed on his leg, completely throwing off his balance and causing him to stumble.

Something that Kanoh promptly noticed, immediately launching a kick towards the boy's face, which was on the ground.

Yuji saw the attack from miles away, but he didn't have much choice in the situation. Take the damage? Block? Dodge?

If he chose any of these options, Kanoh would finish him off right there.

So he chose the riskiest of them all.

!

'Forward!'

Pushing himself towards Kanoh, the boy dodged the kick while using all his strength to grab his opponent around the waist, veins popping out on his forehead as he struggled to lift him up and knock him backwards onto the ground.

The impact confused Kanoh for a moment, a moment that Yuji used to quickly mount on his abdomen.

"..."

But Yuji didn't continue after that, the boy standing still while he kept one of Kanoh's wrists under his control.

The two had reached an impasse, where their predictions struggled to outshine each other.

In that position, the movements they could make were limited, making it difficult for any of them to choose their next move.

It was a contest as to who would move first.

And it didn't take long for that to happen.

Boom!
